Medellin has perfect weather. Being here in Colombia is just a dream come true. The language barrier is such a challenge but being in a new place is such a wondrous idea. I miss family and I miss home but I wouldn't wish to be anywhere else but enjoying my days here without the responsibilities. It's just perfect! I want to upload pictures when I can get to a proper internet cafe! My stay here has been everything wonderful. So much green cloud forests, yappy-but-happyy random dogs, all-the-fried-street vendor foods, everywhere ice cream men and shops, colorful clowns in Medellin, Colombians on motorcycles looking serious, taxi-drivers who don't like you slamming their doors, strange-coincidences of meeting a Chicago-salsero in Medellin, sleeping on buses with dirty bathrooms, and never washing my hands enough. Oh yeah, a transport ... read more

It easy to get a bad name, but it is not so easy to get rid of it. Colombia has a bad name in the world, but it is absolutely fine. We travelled here more than a month and everywhere we meet friendly people. What a difference with Venezuela, where we came from. They should have a bad name. Santa Marta Santa Marta is a nice city to take a rest. And we need that. We made a loop from Colombia, via Venezuela to Trinidad, from there to Suriname and French Guyana and via Brazil and Venezuela back to Colombia. It made us a bit tired. Here in Santa Marta we can stroll a little along the Caribbean Sea, cook for ourselves in Hotel Familiar, go to the barber next door, drink a beer at one ... read more

Ok so Cartagena-Medellin was not “about little over 300km” as I had estimated by lookin at the map of Colombia, instead it was a whoppin 700(at least I estimated two out of tree digits right ;p ) and thus kept be busy for the better part of the last 3days XD But anyway, I made it and that's what matters... right? I can also add that everything I hoped for and feared when it comes to riding the bike came true :) The views are beyond awesome, all the little villages are really cool, it feels incredible and … my butt hurts like hell after an hour or so :/ Friday I got my international driver's license, which was the last part of the puzzle(I hope..) and thus meant that I could finally be on my ... read more

Geo: 6.23593, -75.5751Lørdag 23. Juli. Vi sto opp tidlig for å reise fra Panama til Medellin i Colombia. Vi hadde en drosjesjåfør som hadde det veldig travelt. Hadde hjerte i halsen opptil flere ganger. Her fikk vi nok en r&arin... read more

Tonight is my last night in Medellin before heading out to the Pacific Coast for surf. Here´s a recap of what happened in the last 5 days: Thursday night through Saturday consisted of a lot of partying. The hostel crowd really gets after it. It feels like everyone just parties all night and sleeps all day from wed-sun. I definitely feel a little old for the scene but I met some cool people and had a lot of fun for two nights. Saturday night I stayed in and caught up on sleep. Sunday was another day taking the metro and cruising the city. I watched the Colombian soccer team beat Bolovia in the Americas Cup (in a bar, not at the game). Yesterday I took a two hour bus to a place called El Peñol. It´s ... read more

So I arrived and quickly went through customs around 7:30 last night. I have to say that the first thing I noticed at the airport was the women. They were, in general, ridiculously good looking and many obviously had surgical enhancements. I wouldn´t even mention this, but I feel like it would be a lie by omission if I didn´t admit that this was the first thing that caught my attention in Colombia. So anyway, I told myself to stop looking at fake boobs and get my gameface on because my Spanish is rusty to say the least and my first challenge was to get myself on a collectivo to the centro and then find way to a hostel in El Poblado (upscale safe district). Dude that drives the minivan tells me right away that my ... read more

Although our flight was brutally early......i.e. at 6 in the morning, I was really excited to travel to Medellin as we were going to be staying with a cousin of a good friend of mine. We ended up meeting up with Nico (the cousin) at at around midday and spent the day having traigos (drinks) with some of his parseros (friends).....and mainly learning to speak like people from Medellin! I guess every city has its own slang, and one of the best parts about getting to stay with Nico and hanging out with people from the city was to get a better feel of the culture. After eating dinner in Provencia (an nice area filled with restaurants and bars) we heading back to Nico's place which is a farm in the mountains about a half hour ... read more

We decided to leave today & head inland for a day & then back to the Caribbean. So, we're up early to catch the 7:30 am boat. Our morning was a little hectic due to money. We hadn't paid the dive shop yet because we didn't have enough Pesos to pay them, only dollars. So, we asked Ariel to change a couple hundred dollars for us to get us to Medellin & pay our debts. It took him up until the very last minute to come up with the pesos for us. So, it was a bit stressful at our departure time but Ariel gave us a fruit smoothie so we wouldn't leave town hungry. So kind. When the boat was loading up Geoff was running to pay the dive shop, we're paying Ariel, we're watching ... read more

Day 105 After a smooth flight we arrive in Medellin and take a taxi 40kms to the Zona Rosa area of town. Hostel is great and for the first time in 2 months we have hot showers plus the beds are super comfy. We wander round our area, grab some crepes for tea and spend the evening chatting to other travellers in the hostel. However as it is Saturday night and we are in the party area it feels like we are sleeping in the night club next door. Eventually we drift off whilst our whole room shakes to the level 11 bass, interspersed with the whoops of the local revellers. Day 106 Wake up and take the over ground metro to the centre of town with our plan for the day. First stop is the ... read more
