I was surpised to see these stats for the blog. You can subscribe or make a comment. Glad to see the stats though. Here they are. Rough statistics on your blogs - be aware that these count the number of page views, no guarantee that they were read. Times shown are GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) - click the headings to sort. I wanted to post the table but it gets scrambled on posting. any way 96 views 1st post, 53 second and 46 or something 3rd post. Maybe because without subscribing they don't know I am posting.;I may send another mass mail to say subscribe if you want. Suggestions as well as comments are welcome. If I am too wordy you can just read the photos. they are supposed to summarize the post. Nos Vemos pronto. ... read more

The gym charges $70,000 cop/mensual & I seem kinda busy so will pay $6,000/day $3 USD. Bring your drinking cup if you like coffee on the go I lost mine and can't find one here. Great date with Filipe's mom. We went to El Parque de los Pies Descalzos . The Park of the Barefoot Feet Lucy chose not to do it, but enjoyed the ambiance, Walk on stones though a bamboo grove to a sandy area with trees arranged with ying and yang in mind, to another sandy area, drag your feet for energy benefit and feel some trees with very soft, velvety bark from Australia. Next you go though a maze of stone pillars, hands over your chest and eyes closed using your feet to find your way (kicking gently ahead and to the ... read more

The first week here is a bit unorganized and too many fotos grouped together. I will straighten that out in future by doing a small post more often. Thru. Jan. 06 Booked a small private room in the Palm Tree Hostel next to the Sur Americana metro station. AS they go, this hostel is pretty quiet and very convenient to restaurant, gyms, tennis club, in a major sporting area called Estadios, English teaching schools and of course the metro. Fri. Jan 07 Met several interesting people today. Went out with a German fellow who spoke very good Spanish. We got stuck under an awning during a typical heavy downpour. After a few minutes we got talking with a local school teacher, Filipe, about the same age as the German fellow, Michael 33. My Spanish is not ... read more

Spirit Air Los Angeles to Medellin...... This is just about the flight Update Info is: To see cheapest fares you must book round-trip & The planes suck so you might want to just fly the last leg: Fort Lauderdale to Colombia on Spirit. Booking Date: Wed 29 Dec 2010 Flight Information: I flew from LAX to Detroit (horrible overnight flt. BAD seats), an hr. in Detroit then to FLL/MIA another hr. then to Medellin. Never again. The return was reasonable: MDE>Fll>LAX 3 hr layover FLL. Total cost $440 + $59 yearly fee for the cheap seats ($9) club + $23 online booking of one checked bag (extra carry on free with $9 club. Would have been $100 cheaper with earlier booking. I used the restroom at the back and every one was like a contortionist with ... read more

Another long silence so lots to catch up on, if this gets too long just take a peek at the wee photos and leave the rest!!! When we last wrote we were spending our days chilling out at the beach in Bocas del Toro, the rest of that week went as planned and we did very little...lots of sun and of course as always lots of good food...Tom managed to find his first proper curry since leaving England and as the photo shows he was more than pleased with himself. From Boca we headed south to Panama city for what we thought was going to be a few days before we headed on our sailing adventure, plans however changed a little and we only actually spent one day in Panama City but we managed to squeeze ... read more

MEDELLIN: Once the headquarters and principal killing grounds for Colombia's cocaine cartels, as Medellin was Escobar’s hometown, this city has done a remarkable turnaround. Today, it shines only one of Colombia’s safest city, but of Latin America as well. It is also one of the most pleasant and developed. The trip from Bogota didn’t start so well, as the 30 minute flight was delayed by 4 hours. Add the bad traffic to the airport and the 1 hour trip into Medellin, and we wasted a whole day, literally. But, by the next day we started to enjoy the delightful city surrounded on all four sides by rugged peaks. It’s very lush here, with green brushing the landscape and flower stands popping along roads. A river runs through the city furiously and the rain, the worst in ... read more

Medellin was never in our travel plan, with our initial vision of Colombia (our final destination) involving beaches and little else. However, after talking to other travellers we realised that there was alot more to this country and that we should really use our 3 remaining weeks to do it some justice! So... after a flight from Ecuador (an overland border crossing is not advised), we arrived to a rainy Medellin. We were surprised when boarded a taxi to discover a TV, but a little less surprised when we were serenaded by the dulcit tones of Shakira. Hilarious... we'd only been in the country for 5 minutes. We would love to say that we chose our first Columbian destination for it´s history or beauty but infact it was the cheap airfare that pulled us in! It ... read more

In Panama City I had a couple days of indecision about where to go next, to head back north, or go to Colombia. I met a German girl named Kathrin who had the same problem, so we ended up flying to Colombia together. We just happened to arrive in Cartagena during the annual independence celebration there, so our cab ride through the city from the airport was crazy—the streets just packed with people covered in paint and foam and flour. Literally, we were just driving through a massive crowd. There was music on every block. We got to our hostel, dumped our stuff, then went out. Before we had walked a block, we were covered in foam (everyone had spray cans of foam). Even my beer got filled up with foam. But it was a ... read more

Medellin, here we are. I set off with Samantha and Mathius to come here. The bus trip was eight and a half hours and smooth sailing. We arrived very early in the morning and headed straight for the hostel, casa kiwi. It is beautiful and really chilled out. It has been pretty sad to leave Cali and the amazing people there, but hey that's travel. Sam, Mathius and I spent the day eating good food and sleeping. We went for a little wander in the afternoon and my gosh is this a rich city. High rise buildings to match the women in high heels everywhere. I felt rather daggy surrounded by the height of fashion and the expensive boutique clothing stores that line the streets. We had an early night and woke up fresh this morning. ... read more
