Need advice as to whether Cartagena is worth it for the amount it will cost... Please help!
Hi,
I'm looking at booking a trip travelling from Rio to Bogota (so I can finish in Cartagena) in 3 months but since I've carried out further calculation it looks as though my budget may be stretched quite thin if I do take the final push to Cartagena, instead of flying home from Lima.
Just need to decide whether it's worth the money and effort to get to Cartagena as I've heard mixed reviews? It was the chap in the travel agency that originally sold it to me as he finished his trip up there and he said it's great to finish on the Carribean coast. It is very appealing but at the same time I cannot afford to come home with no money so I need to see if it's worth the extra cost (as I've heard finishing in Lima may be a slight anticlimax).
Any views/advice/tips welcome!

Reply to this we did that exact trip and getting to colombia is definately worth it. if you maybe do a bit less on the way you won't regret getting to colombia. we went from iauitos in peru down the amazon and into colombia at leticia - flew to bogota and then went north finishing in cartagena. we then spent a few days/weeks around the north coast before taking a boat to panama! have fun

But remember, here is raining alot nowadays..and it can take time and the long distances also has to be taken in acount.
