Just a few trips here and there to maintain our sanity from now on - but you never know - we might take off again for an extended break!

Ignoring all advice to take a local (European) summer holiday we decided to make the most of free air travel for Heidi whilst we can and went long haul to Cuba! It is a destination we nearly visited during our Central America trip some years back and is somewhere we have wanted to go to for a long time. We cheated slightly by booking an all inclusive but compromised with a few nights in Havana and also some trips from our resort into the interior - not quite backpacking - but with Heidi in tow we needed a bit of luxury and organisation! So, in true form Sally spent several hours on trip advisor to work out which hotel did the best buffet, found a good deal, upgraded our flights to Virgin Atlantic - and we ... read more

The August Bank Holiday provided a great opportunity to head up to the West Coast - coupled with the offer of accommodation in Nick (Zogs) and Ceci's new "Swiss Chalet" and an excellent deal on flights for the 3 of us the decision was made. We left very early on the Thursday morning which effectively gave us 5 days and 4 nights away - a proper break. Only having to take 2 days precious holiday was a real bonus too. A taxi to the airport, an easy Easy Jet flight (free speedy boarding courtesy of Heidi) and swift car hire at Glasgow airport, meant that having left home at 0500hrs we were in Glen Coe surrounded by mountains for lunch! A breakfast bap with views to die for was devoured and Heidi had had her first ... read more

The last 6 months have been a bit of a blur with our little new addition and a few days away was the perfect way to slow down and relax. Neither of us had been to Prague before so seemed like a pretty good place to go - especially as it was to be Heidi's first overseas trip! We managed to make the most of the UK bank holiday extravaganza with Easter and the Royal Wedding meaning 3 days of annual leave turned into an 11 day break! After a lovely family lunch on Easter Sunday we headed to Luton Airport early Monday morning to catch our flight to Prague. Wizz Air was our chosen budget airline (not that cheap when you add a bag in the hold and Heidi - I thought Babies went for ... read more

With close friends getting married in the Lake District what better excuse than to spend an extra few days away in the Lakes? We travelled up on the Friday afternoon, expecting a pretty awful journey but were pleasantly surprised that it didn't take too long, Heidi was fine in the car and actually being forced to stop to feed her and change nappies meant we weren't too tired on arrival. Centre Parcs was to be our base for the week and once the wedding was finished we would be in a great location to explore the lakes, and if the weather was poor just mess around in the pools. The day of the wedding saw the girls get ready on their own while the boys all met in a local pub for a full English breakfast ... read more

19/08 - London/New York The long awaited opportunity to write a new blog was finally upon us, this hobby is becoming quite expensive! In order to keep things interesting for all our followers we had asked some friends to get married in America - just so we could go on a road trip around the “wild west” afterwards and fortunately they obliged! So in true form we had planned everything down to the last detail, flights - check, hotel for the first night - check, and that was it! To make things a bit more interesting we had also decided to move house the day before flying and just about remembered to keep our holiday things separate - details of that adventure to follow. I went off to work in the morning and left Sally to ... read more

Not having been away for a while and to coincide with our 1st anniversary as a married couple (and the Bank Holiday weekend) we took advantage of the kind offer from Jo and Paul to spend a weekend in Argentiere. The sales pitch was relatively easy, skiing in sunshine, sunbathing if we didn't feel like skiing and lots of tasty food thrown in, all in the beautiful Chamonix Valley and spacious homely apartment! (click on the link below, it might be available over the coming summer/winter but gets booked up quickly) Paul's Apartment Deal done and flights booked we left work on time on Friday evening and after a few delays at the airport (not the volcano this time) we got to Geneva and picked up the hire car! Paul was really chuffed when at the ... read more

With the prospect of a long weekend over Easter and guaranteed bad weather Sally and I looked on sky scanner for cheap flights to a destination neither of us had been to before. Ryanair came up trumps with a good deal to Stockholm and we duly booked the flights not wanting to miss out on what we perceived to be a bargain! We hadn't been before and had heard great things about the city so couldn't wait to get out there! Only after the flights were paid for did we realise that what we had saved on the air fairs would be eaten up (and more) by everything else we would have to spend! It isn't often that you go anywhere more expensive than the UK/London but Stockholm was something else! Arriving late on Thursday night ... read more

Not sure if a ski trip can be classed as proper traveling but we did all jump on a plane and the spirit of adventure was certainly alive amongst the group for most of the week! So, I was luckily enough to be invited into a group of hard core seasonaires and long term friends for what promised to be a week of extreme skiing and hard core partying. 15 intrepid skiers/boarders traveled from far and wide, well the North and South, to Grenoble - the famous gateway to the Alps. We all met up in the beautiful surrounds of the coach park and after being robbed of 10 Euros for a ham sandwich introductions were made, we exchanged pleasantries, and we embarked on the longest transfer possible. In the end it turned out to be ... read more

Rather than the usual blogs on small weekend breaks and shopping trips to Tesco's which we have been boring you with since being back in the real world we have finally been somewhere of note to warrant a "Travel Blog", I hope. Whilst the destination is far flung our traditional methods of traveling are evolving somewhat and we appear to have grown out of "backpacking" in its truest form and are now experiencing places in a bit more luxury than on previous longer trips - well almost anyway. So what to do with only 4 weeks holiday a year? Numerous options were on the table for our "proper" holiday this year but we finally settled on Cambodia as we'd heard lots of good things about the place. True to form we left the detailed planning to ... read more
