The little list. I forgot about this list until I got back to Australia. I found it when I unpacked everything scrumpled at the bottom of my bum bag. I read over it and realised I did everything somewhat unconciously that I had written in a quick scrawl except for number 9 which had the question mark. My Spanish is poor but I did learn a little. Fran I did see on Skype in my final week in Vancouver but I didn't see my Brother and Bodhi. 1: See Maggie. 2: Go to Argentina then travel in South America. 3: Go to New York. 4: See Tom Morgan. 5: Go to Canada. 6: Work overseas. 7: Volunteer in South America. 8: Learn Spanish. 9: See Fran Nick and Bodhi? I am back in Australia and with ... read more

Finally a decision has been made. I will fly back to Australia in the near future. It came with the realisation that it will be hard to find reasonable work here without a visa. It was also due to the less than enthusiastic response from June and Tim when I asked them about me staying for a while. Before now the response had always been enthusiastic. However, these responses where not really the issue, it is more the fact that it is time to start work and because I can't seem to make a living in these parts without departing the country for two to four months it is time to return to Aus. I am living in Kath's old room. She moved upstairs to her own apartment. The room is actually a section of the ... read more

I am in the capital of Colombia-Bogota. So far it seems to be a pretty dynamic place and I am looking forward to exploring further. I have been trying to organise some Spanish lessons and have been in contact with my friends from here, Julie Danielle and Tina. Tina invited me to her house and to see the city with her which should be great. I really like her bubbly nature and sence of humour. I left Solento last night with the feeling that enough is enough. The nature and calm was awesome for a bit but after three nights it was time to go. Such a beautiful place though. I had trouble getting money out of the one atm in the central Plaza of Salento so had to catch a bus to a nearby town ... read more

There was lots to do in Medellin, meeting lovely people and seeing the city. I got in trouble one night after walking home from a club alone. The man who owns the hostel said 'where have you been' and I replied that I had been out with friends. He asked me why I was alone and got very angry with me when I replied I had walked home. I promised I wouldn't do it again and realised I have no idea if it is dangerous here. It just feels so safe. I left Medellin with Ronnie from Switzerland and we shared the nicest room in Salento you can imagine in a hostel, it even had a double bed. We met in Medellin at the hostel Casa Kiwi, you kind of get to know everyone there as ... read more

Medellin, here we are. I set off with Samantha and Mathius to come here. The bus trip was eight and a half hours and smooth sailing. We arrived very early in the morning and headed straight for the hostel, casa kiwi. It is beautiful and really chilled out. It has been pretty sad to leave Cali and the amazing people there, but hey that's travel. Sam, Mathius and I spent the day eating good food and sleeping. We went for a little wander in the afternoon and my gosh is this a rich city. High rise buildings to match the women in high heels everywhere. I felt rather daggy surrounded by the height of fashion and the expensive boutique clothing stores that line the streets. We had an early night and woke up fresh this morning. ... read more

I swear I could play sharads and get just about anything accross. Yesterday I was in a large supermarket and wanted to bye a Colombian adapter. I asked someone if they sold such a thing. At least I tried to. I ended up acting out a hair dryer connected to the wall which I was plugging the cord into and saying Colombian...while pointing at the 'wall' over and over again. At one point there were three shop assistants looking at me with an emotion somewhere between confusion and amusement. But hey, we got there in the end. Although no, despite all our hard work, they didn't sell them. I think today will be my last day here in Cali. I woke up not long ago and feel a bit of an urge to move on. It ... read more

Yesterday we had a bit of a sleep in which was very welcome, enjoyed the delish pancake breakfast provided by the hostel and then around midday headed out. A book called marching powder has been written about the Prison here which is quite famous. It is written by a guy from Australia who stayed in the prison for four months with an English guy he had met there. La Paz kind of reminds me of India with the hustle and bustle and bright colors. After a few hours of wondering about we headed to the prison to check it out. Apparently you can pay money to go in but there are scams whereby you can lose your cash and going inside is not advised. The prisoners, sometimes murderers, show you around. We have heard some wacky ... read more

To be honest I didn't think I would still be here in Buenos Aires one month into my trip. Last night Sally and I planned some of our travel which made it all a reality and pretty exciting. We went out after as well and we get on very well. It looks like Bolivia, then Peru, Columbia, Sally wants to go to Venezuala and then Brazil after that but I will see. The Spanish is coming on, slowly but surely. I definately need to learn lots more though as the communication barrier is a pain and the people here really appreciate it when you put in some effort to speak their language. I have moved out of Marias place and into Chris's. I came last night and I like the feel of the place. There are ... read more

Life here is as crazy as ever. My sleeping pattern has completely changed and I can never sleep before 2 or 3am anymore. Today Maria and I got home at 7am and slept until 4pm. Last night we went out for a few drinks, or so was the plan, and ended up at a huge nightclub which was packed so tight you could hardly dance. The nightlife here is unlike anything I have ever witnessed before. There seems to be no such thing as an early night. People don't even go out before midnight and before you know it the sun is coming up. I remember my first night here, when Maria and I went out for dinner. It was 7.30pm. Nothing was even open yet. Jet lagged that I was we walked the streets for ... read more
