Feeling a little less than 100% after yet another bout of food poisoning. It´s raining out and there´s not a whole lot to do except read my Harry Potter book and update my Travelblog. Have finally gotten the official Death Road photos onto the computer. Ignore how bad I look - I was recuperating from my first dose of food poisoning at the time.... read more

Wow! What an amazing city tucked in the valley between snowcapped mountains! I landed in La Paz Sunday afternoon, a little worried how the 3600 odd meter altitude would affect me, especially after my night out in Santiago trying the specialty, Pisco Sour (The airport bus came to pick me up at 4am, so there was no use in sleeping... I did that on my baggage trolley at the airport waiting for customs!!)... I did, by the way, manage a pretty decent tourist whirl around Santiago on Saturday - made it up to Cerro San Cristobal for a view over la Paz (with a Maria statue similar to the Christ in Rio), munched on some seafood in the Central Market, and visited a couple of interesting museums... Back to La Paz. Galia´s parents met us (I ... read more

Hola! Just supporting my favourite soccer team ... (I still think the Strongest suck hehehehe) Just putting on a few more photos from this morning, and some additional climbing photos. Not much to report - the weather is typical of autumn here in La Paz, more rain, a bit colder, you know how it goes. ... read more

Hola boys and girls, I´m back in La Paz, I guess I´m just a glutton for high-altitutde punishment. Altitude sickness really is the pits, especially after 3 weeks, when it normally should disappear in as many days... anyway, I soldier on to new lands and new scenes. This weekend was my Lake Titicaca long weekend, and it was one of the best side trips I have ever taken in my life! Here´s how it all came about.. JUEVES (THURSDAY) - left my hostal with a reservation for Sunday night, getting on the bus at the La Paz cemetery to Copacabana (p.s. it´s not the hottest spot north of Havana, they were definitely talking about somewhere else in that song). Checked out the local church, didn´t get to see the local virgin statue (apparently pretty famous). She ... read more

Life in La Paz is definitely La Vida Loca, the pace is crazy most of the time - traffic and people every where, protests and fiestas at every turn, street vendors seeling everything imaginable and the persistent smell of the open sewer - nice. At first, I´ll admit, I hated La Paz, it was so dirty and smelly and full-on. I intended to only stay two or three days at the most before heading over to Peru, but somehow I´ve managed to stay here nearly two weeks today, and I´m planning to stay another week or two - making a month in La Paz! I would never have guessed at the start of my trip that I would spend more time in Bolivia than any other country. My days have been spend in the following ways: ... read more
