Just a pic of my maple (i.e. the one that I tapped last year at maple syrup season). Then my batteries froze up and went flat, so there are no more pics! Spring is gradually sneaking in - today it's a mix of rain, freezing rain and snow. It's melting the snowbanks away bit by bit, and if it wasn't raining I'd probably be out looking for new spring shoots at the park. C'est la vie - hopefully it won't be raining on my next day off (some time in July). Hope all is well around the world with everyone. Hope [View Full Entry]

I don't dare go outside today - and it's not the -18C temperature (although that plays a farily large part in it). It's just that it hurts my eyes - everything is white and now the sun's out and I think if I go outside I won't be able to see to get back in again! So the snow hit - and there was a lot, but it was hardly a storm per se - no lightning or thunder, just lots of snow falling over a long period of time. There's lots in the news about accidents on the roads and [View Full Entry]

well, the geese are anyway. Apparently the Canada geese didn't see the news, as the biggest storm of the season is due to hit in the next hour or so. About 30-50cm (yes, CENTIMETRES) of snow is expected to fall tonight - although if it falls as freezing rain, then we could be looking at 1998 all over again, when most of the country was out of power for weeks. We've stocked up here on movies and treats, so we're all sorted (water, bah). Will email more if I survive the night (yes, I know I'm a drama queen). It's kind [View Full Entry]

yes, you're reading the right blog, not Tonya Todman's (for the benefit of the Aussies). I have found my Knifty Knitter and am already the proud owner of two hand-made alpaca beanies/toques, and am taking orders! I spent my day off checking the greenhouses, then visiting with a new friend downtown, just to see how much (or how little) downtown Kingston has changed. Then my friend Karen picked me up and we went for a brisk stroll through Lemoine Park in the snow, followed by a cup of tea - very civilised. Am now in the kitchen cooking up this week's [View Full Entry]

Yes, I'm still here, but unfortunately Travelblog is giving me grief every time I try to upload photos, so I put some on Flickr instead - if you try http://www.flickr.com/photos/19730897@N07/ I think you might find them, but it may just be a temporary website address so best of luck! I will keep trying to put all of my trip photos on there, especially the ones that never made it onto the Travelblog pages. So, what's new in Warrnambool I hear you all clamouring to ask? Well, today it's bloody hot (42C), but that's no surprise to anyone. It's a Total Fire [View Full Entry]

Hola chicos! Have been spending the last week and a half weed-mapping in Kinglake National Park, north of Melbourne. Sounds like a glamorous job doesn't it? How about the falling down waterfalls butt-first, dodging tiger snakes and wombats (very large and hairy, by the way) and flicking off the odd blood-sucking leech. Other than all that it's a great job, but when I get back to the depot I'm very sweaty, dirty and afraid of wombats ... hehehehe. Will post some photos whilst recuperating this weekend, and then back to the mountains for another week of work. Hopefully the 30-plus celciu [View Full Entry]

virus-ridden... Oceania » Australia » Victoria » Warrnambool
Hola all! Currently battling the flu, so have spent much of the last 48 hours sleeping. What's new? Not much - got some volunteer work coming up in town (Warrnambool) in a couple of weeks, still waiting to get well so I can donate blood, have plenty of plants to get Cheryl's garden going and gradually chipping away the waiting time for the next work visa for Canada. Would put on some photos, but will have to wait until the first of next month for the computer to so-operate in the uploading process. Hope that's enough to keep the (very small) [View Full Entry]
