So I woke up in the middle of the night to my eye burring terribly. I had slept on the plane with my contacts in and fallen asleep the night before with them in. My eye continued to puss through out the night and was red in the morning. i then started to fear pink eye. But we were headed out to surf so i had to put the contacts back in and sucked it up. The boat left to go to the reefs to surf at 7:30 which is late in the surfing dawn patrol life but whatever. So we head out to the first spot willks pass. And the wind isnt right and looks really tiny so we went onward to desperations. Which didnt look much better but seeing as we all were desperate ... read more

Alright let me first warn whoever reads this that I am a horrible at grammar, typing, and spelling and i tend to ramble So bare with me. That said lets start my Journal Well i left the States Jan 3rd for a 4 month trip around the pacific and Asia. My flights were fine. I flew from JFK to LA where i had a 2 hour delay because the pilot was sick. I had checked my surfboard in JFK and didnt get charged for it which is under heard of and super lucky. But when i got to LA Air Pacific made me check my other bag because it was to heavy and they had a baggage screening there and the line was massive but i wound up talking to a LA guy that moved to ... read more

We started our Fiji adventure at a hotel called Aquarius, smack bang on the beach at Nadi Bay, a stone's throw away from Nadi Town and the airport. The hotel itself, nothing to write home about, and the beach even less so (dirty, grey sand littered with rubbish and the odd stray dog wanting to be your best friend). Knowing that we only had to endure this for a couple of nights before our real Fiji adventure began (hopping between the idyllic Mamanuca and Yasawa islands) we made the best of it and relaxed in one of the many dual berth hammocks strung up between unsuspecting palm trees, dotted about the place. We even ventured into Downtown Nadi which was much less dirty, frenetic and intimidating than most people made out- it was a breath of ... read more

Ok, one more entry about Fiji- So yesterday I decided to rent a car and explore a little of Viti Levu, the island that Nadi's on, before jetting out today. Drove up to the city of Lautoka, about half an hour north of Nadi, which was a nice drive but the city is really not much to write home about. Although it was fun driving on the wrong side of the road, sitting on the wrong side of the car with the controls flipped around as well, so I kept turning on the windshield wipers whenever I wanted to make a turn. Quite comical when driving through bustling downtown areas. And since I was up at the crack of dawn today, per the usual, as I am curious to see how long I can stay on ... read more

It was an emotional goodbye. We could have easily stayed in Mana Lagoon for longer but we only had one day before our flight and we were also out of booze. After breakfast we checked out and waited for our boat to arrive. We had the goodbye song sung to us and then began the numerous goodbyes and email swaps! At 11.30 the boat arrived and 16 of us boarded. It was a tight squeeze and as the back was so weighed down Mark got to hang on to the front of the boat and used as ballast! We arrived back on the mainland shortly after but only just. We only just avoided a turtle the size of a fiesta on the journey back. As Mark was on the front, he saw it coming and luckily ... read more

As we left the world’s happiest nation, the sense of dread overcame our thoughts; the question was ‘How could we find another country that carries as much love for life?’ With heavy hearts we read our in flight magazine and collected last minute research on a nation that is regularly mentioned when people speak of paradise, but as both of us knew exactly what you see on a postcard we wanted to delve a bit deeper. Not that was going to come from the Air Pacific guide to garlands or the handy tips on how to drink Kava and see an image of the winning lottery numbers. I can be an idiot, see, I said it. One example came from our plane trip. Em and I sat next to each other on a three seat layout ... read more

Exit Strategy From New Zealand: Rotorua To Taupo To Aukland To The Sky On our second last day of New Zealand we had a few things to do, so after browsing the town centre of Rotorua for an hour or two, we headed back to Taupo as we needed to return a faulty product. Fortunately, it wasn't far out of the way and we spent some more time in the Taupo centre. Hitting the road again in the afternoon, we headed up in an Auckland direction. A quick stop in Hamilton was on the cards, which is another sizable city in the North Island. It loved it's one way road systems so it proved fun to navigate around. By the time we got close to Auckland, it was into the dark night and there was copious ... read more

Vi derimot satt aa trippet paa ... read more

Nothing much to report today, got packed up, checked out and headed to the airport, turned out we had a 4 hour delay which is not good with a bit of a hangover so we hijacked 4 chairs each and went to sleep! We did get a free lunch though which was good and met Gun and Leaf again! They are stalking us I think! ha ha! So arrived in Auckland quite later than expected, found some accom and headed there in the shuttle bus - exciting times I know, I bet you guys can't wait to read the next line... yep, we went to bed! Night Night! xxx Sorry no photos today and my camera battery has just died so I can't even put any random ones on here! Sorry!... read more

Had a nice sleep without any damp bedding! hurray! Done the washing and had a nice lie in - luurvely! Decided to go into Nadi town today so we got sorted and jumped on the local bus! All the kids were staring at us as we're white which was funny! If you gave them a smile though they would give you a cheesy grin back! Well cute! Anyhow, Nadi town centre is erm, how would i decribe it! I am not sure, some bits are run down and some bits aren;t. We asked a man for directions on the bus and he was an off duty policeman - always handy! and showed us the way - good old Jo - He likes manchester United! He watched them win the other day as well apparently?! anyhow its ... read more
