Day 10 (13/11/16) Woke up at 8.45AM. Caravan park very quiet. Rain absolutely teeming down incessantly, making it difficult to time dashes to the toilets! Rain has not stopped, so basically have written today off since not much is open on a Sunday, so rest up & watch tv it is! Day 11 (14/11/16) Up early for the long drive to Wangaratta. Quite a large town with lots of good facilities & shopping. Managed to pick up a few bargains courtesy of eagle-eyed Deb. Had lunch at the Wangaratta RSL before going to Gapsted Wines. Deb quaffed down a huge array of very generous samples before making some purchases for digestion at a later date! Day 12 (15/11/16) Up early again, but this time to tackle the long, narrow, windy road to Falls Creek. Compared to ... read more

Day 6 (9/11/16) Got up just before 9AM. After some busy days decided to have a rest day. More socialising with fellow caravanners & more fishing of the Livingstone River putting a relaxed, leisurely tone on the day. Another 10” brown trout caught became dinner. Day 7 (10/11/16) A fine, windy day so got the washing up to date before tomorrows trip to Mt Beauty. More socialising & a couple of leisurely walks before washing the car as it was coated in dust. Hooked up to the caravan ready for the morning & had an early night. Day 8 (11/11/16) Left Omeo at 9AM. The road up to Dinner Plain was windy & relatively steep early on before flattening out. The views of patchy snow capped peaks amazing as we drove across the plain on the ... read more

The caravan park at Khancoban was a beauty with views looking out over the Khancoban Pondage....yet another little gem in the middle of nowhere. We hit the road early and as we rolled along we were soon crossing the border into Victoria. First stop was Corryong where we dropped into the bakery while taking a walk around the town. Before taking off we stopped at a lookout just up the road and enjoyed the view out over surrounding national park. Spring is in full bloom in this neck of the woods and the blossoms add splendid colour to the thriving green grazing pastures. Along the Murray Valley Highway we stopped to see an historic trestle bridge that was once part of a railway that was built during the late 1800s and then at a lookout over ... read more

Mount Beauty certainly lives up to its name. The scenery is beautiful, and so are the people (that’s you, Di & Jo – you guys rock – thanks so much for having us!). We learnt that there isn’t actually a mountain called Mount Beauty, rather it is just the township that carries the name. It’s a gorgeous little place with real community spirit. In the pilates studio, I asked if there were any local yoga classes. I was told to ask the lady in the greengrocer’s, who sent me to the hardware shop, where the sales assistant called his mum to get the yoga teacher’s phone number. Lovely! The locals also share their home grown fruit and veggies around and greengrocer offered to give me some fresh figs from the tree in her garden. Unfortunately we weren’t ... read more
