Hi guys! I have uploaded some photos for you of my day trip today to the Blue Dandenongs on Puffing Billy (a very cute old fashioned steam train). As you can see, I wore my rain coat today... tomorrow is the last official day of summer :( Huff! I hope you are all enjoying getting back into classes! Just a couple of messages... A big CONGRATULATIONS to Francesca and Georgia for getting accepted into the English Youth Ballet's casting of Giselle this year, very proud of you both. How exciting! I can't wait to find out what roles you have been given. Thank you all for your lovely emails, messages and in some cases video footage of you dancing in class! It's great to hear from you all :) A very smiley Miss Jo! Lots of ... read more

OK, most of you know we are home now and I am sorry that we have not had a chance to finalise the journey in print. The fact of the matter is that we arrived home on the 1stOct and it took nearly the whole week to empty the van, do the washing, wash the van, empty the Pajero, wash the Pajero and not forgetting tackling the jungle that had grown where our garden used to be. Then there was half a day to take the van to the chassis manufacturer for inspection after the broken suspension arm, and another day to take the van to storage – bloody good thing I am not working! Back to concluding the trip. We had a great time in Noosa/Tewantin with Pam and Allan and it was great that ... read more

We have waited a long time for this and are very excited. It is our time and we are going to do some travelling. My Hubbie, Ian and myself are set to go to Vietnam with Debbie, Geoff, Keryn and Andrew. We have been planning this holiday for about a year. Have made a packing list and have got the suit cases our and started putting things in them. I like to be organised. I will probably make the rest of my travelling companions cross with my “Book of Lists”. I have list of what to do in the Towns we are staying, lists of where to get prescription glasses made, addresses of cooking classes. You name it I have a list for it. We have booked our accommodation, our air flights in Vietnam and a ... read more

We had spent weeks in the rain and cold that was hitting Melbourne searching for a van that was suitable to carry all four of us. Finally after receiving a complete clean out, new upholstery and curtains Hilda Hiace was born. Our leaving day was Sunday. The plan was to help Gemma and Kieran move to their new apartment then be off on out merry way… well that was the plan anyway. What actually happened was we helped Gemma and Kieran move then decided that it would be a good idea to have a BBQ and a few drinks on their balcony. A new plan was formed to wake up bright and early and leave on Monday, head over to Dandenong to buy our bike rack and find a camp ground. Monday morning came and Hilda ... read more

Around Victoria We have now returned to the mainland Australia and settled at the naturist club Helios in the Dandenongs. On being urged not to leave Victoria without visiting their most popular national park we succumbed and drove for three hours to Wilson's Promentary, a projection into the Bass Straight which used to be connected to Tasmania before the last ice age. And it looks a bit like Tassie with huge granite exposed rocks all over the place. It is a little remote as it takes another thirty kilometres to get to the campsite from the edge of the park. Once there we found it easy to follow a number of walks with tremendous views of the sea and hills with beaches almost deserted as usual. We managed two nights before we returned to Helios. And ... read more

Went for a long holiday last weekend on Philip Island with the family. It's only about an hour and a half from home, and we stayed in a caravan park next to the beach. The kids kept a busy schedule of jumping on this big balloon, playing on the beach, and doing crafts. These boys love craft; we even kicked back to the good days of sand art. Nanna and Pops stayed in their RV, but they were sure great to spend time with! I did some surfing and took a long run and we also watched the Australian open on tv. Pops took me and the boys and dad out fishing on the boat, and the boys tried to cast with their new rods, but were immediately bored, so I tried to keep them out ... read more

We completed the golf course and now proudly own certificates with our names and scores on them (Margaret: 176, Barry: 144) The last two holes actually had some grass on the fairways! We drove down the Eyre Peninsula, keeping close to the sea, stopping at Streaky Bay for lunch. Originally we had intended to stay here but we needed to push on as we had wasted a bit of time golfing. Just south, at Point Labatt, along a very rough gravel road, we stopped to view the sea lion colony from the top of the cliff. These Australian Sea lions are quite rare and this is the largest colony on mainland Australia. We drove along a scenic cliff top road, complete with strange and varied sculptures and stopped at a lovely little site, right by the ... read more

So, my mother told me that everything about my time in Melbourne has sounded "perfect", and though it may sound corny, I'm just going to have to agree. I actually had to stop myself from using the word perfect too much this weekend, because I didn't want to cheapen it. But it quickly became our weekend theme, and thankfully it lived up to just that. Wednesday night started with another trip to the Queen Victoria Market. I finally met up with Christina, who is another Michigan medical student doing a rotation at a different hospital in Heidelberg, which is about a 15 minute train ride from Melbourne. We were joined by the remainder of the UK contingent who were leaving for Adelaide the next day. So we had dinner and drinks at the market and then ... read more

Well, I have just spent about 10 days in Dandenong and Melbourne. Here's what I got up to, sorry it's not too detailed: Tuesday: Relaxing day, popped to the shops with my great aunt and uncle and just chilled out Wednesday: The Neighbours Tour! I went to the cul-de-sac where it is filmed, saw some of the outdoor sets and got to meet an actress I just about remembered. Probably a little over priced, but awesome nevertheless! Thursday: Christmas Day, we headed up to The Dandenong Hills for a fairly traditional Christmas meal, my biggest Christmas ever with 17 people, 5 of which were blood relations! Friday: Boxing Day, I'm afraid I watched Mamma Mia (3rd time in a month), Home Alone 3 and ate chocolate, exactly what Boxing Day is about! Saturday: I headed into ... read more
