Well Bloggers, 3 weeks today is when we left dear old blightly, and what an adventure so far. What a hell of a day, we finally made our camping purchase today, so read on! The weather men said it would be cloudy with rain today, they were right, not much rain though but really hot all the same (Still shorts and T shirts though). I was keen to be up and out today fairly early today as I new my sister Jane had some news on my mum, that she was excited to tell me. Let me tell you a bit about my mum, she is an amazing lady, she always see the good in everyone. What has always made me proud is that my friends always liked my mum and dad for who they were, ... read more

This morning, was had a leisurely start to the day, after breakfast, Caroline was attempting the crossword and I was enjoying my book. After I showered and shaved we headed off with a few things that needed doing, but nothing mind blowing. We were looking for an address in Buddina for a company that sold camping trailers, we have still not exhausted this train of thought and as we hadn’t found it we parked the truck up at the shore, got out and get on to the beach, it is truly amazing. A handful of guys are surfing and a couple are down the beach walking a their great Danes, who are heading towards us. “I hate sand “ the feeling of sand on my feet just makes hairs on my arms stand up, still Caroline ... read more

This morning we had an appointment to Skype a good friend of mine Bob Yule, at 08.00 at Starbucks. It was weird, we had parked in the car park last night, looking for a free network to piggyback, sometimes you are lucky most times not, this night we had a short window of free WiFi. Mum and Dad tried to call but it was unsuccessful so we chatted via skype instead. We saw that Bob was on line so Skyped him a message as he was at work, and does not have a web cam in his office. (Who Does) we mailed each other and asked when it would be convenient to do an open video call, so we agreed we would do it at 10.00pm UK time, that would be at the end of Bob’s ... read more

Today was a day we were looking forward to; we had to take the Hertz car back to Brisbane today, as we were picking up the Nissan Patrol late afternoon from Gary Crick Nissan in Nambour. Nambour is where the Australian Prime minister Kevin Rudd comes from. The first job we had to do was clean the skip out, ah, I mean the Hertz Hire Car affectionately known as “The Pea”, it took us no time to clean it out and stash our gear, and soon after breccy, we left for Brisbane at around 08.50. En Route we had to fill “The Pea” up with petrol, which cost $65.45 for 64.87 litres, $0.99Cents per litre or £0.43 p per litre in British money. Shooting off down the Sunshine Highway (70) and South onto the M1, Caroline ... read more

The day started nice and lazy, we both slept really well, the night was really warm and our “Indian Friend”, The Punkawalla, has put in for some overtime. We had our breakfast out on the patio, and I typed up yesterday’s blog (Day15, 22-11-2008), which was three pages and a dozen pictures, as yesterday was so busy. Around 11.30 we went and sat round the pool to catch some rays, and have a swim, the day was hot, hot, hot, I cooked a rasher of bacon on Caroline’s belly. We had only an hour and a bit, in the sun which is more than enough, then drove over to the camping store we like, only some minor purchases today some plastic plates, plastic beakers and polycarbonate knives forks and spoons, stuff that we will need on ... read more

I’m up early today 05.45, Caroline has to be up early today as we have to get to Starbucks by 08.00, so she can Skype the girls, as they are having their “Wild” Girls night and it will be the first one Caroline is to miss whilst on our adventure. (It is also the first one that I have missed in nearly 10 years!). It gives me time to update the blog for yesterday, and have my peaceful thought time. I take her a cup of tea, and she is awake, we leave the house at 07.15 and head down to Starbucks in Mooloolaba, pronounced (Muh-loo-laba). There are cars and vans parks all along the road side all the way up, Girls and Guys getting surf boards off and easing in to Wet suits, the line ... read more

Up at 06.20 (20.20) British time, the night before, you have got to do the sleep bit to catch us up but never will, its like dancing in time, you go to bed we get up and when we go to bed you still have the rest of your day ahead of you. I slept really well, but was a little unsettled by our visitor last night. The reason I don’t watch horror movies is that I dream so vividly, so I was surprised that the spider wasn’t in my dream, but I probably will have to face him in some future dream/nightmare soon. The night was really warm, but we retired just after 10.30 shattered, but triumphant in our small achievements and happy that we spoke to Shirley and John. Caroline is still sleeping, no ... read more

We wake up in our new surroundings, Caroline proclaimed that it took her a while to drift off to sleep, where I must have gone as my soon as my head hit the pillow, she said that I was “herding the pigs in”. (Its great being a bloke) I wake, and jump out of bed, gagging for a cup of tea. I power the notebook up, I need to review the blog page for yesterday, which Caroline laid down the outline for. To make the blog as factual as we can we like to write it up either, the same day or the day after at a push. We draft them off line so they may not be published everyday, but at least we record them, virtually as it happens. It is not our desire to ... read more

What a mad day, we rose as usual and had our breakfast, and decided to swim for a while then lie in the sun for 1/ 2 an hour. We needed to go in to ANZ bank to do our banking, we are chatting to the Bank Manager and we happen upon the conversation of our unwanted visitor, she, Belinda lives out in the sticks, by the zoo and said you haven’t had a spider in you’re house until you’ve had a “Huntsman”, goody I can’t wait for that!!! We decided to drive out looking for some more car dealers, in the direction of Nambour, about 16 K’s from where we are staying. Pulling in to Gary Crick Nissan, its quite an impressive set up, and the sun is scorching hot, the AC is on full ... read more

Gosh today has been a big day for me and Andy, we finally get mobile and leave Brisbane to head North to Alexandra Headland. After breakfast we hopped onto the City “Kitty” Cat to Riverside just a few stops down the Brisbane River, to the post office. It was raining, not very heavily, but still, it was raining, we had borrowed an umbrella from the Rydges Hotel and needed to get in to town, to collect the hire car from Hertz. Caroline loves the “City Cat” a sleek powerful ferry that works on the river. You just hop on pay, to your destination, then get of. We were pondering over the signage to the stop, where we were going to get off, a lady asks if she can be of assistance, and we ask here does ... read more
