Andy Skivvying
Well barbecuing is a mans job! The day started nice and lazy, we both slept really well, the night was really warm and our “Indian Friend”, The Punkawalla, has put in for some overtime.
We had our breakfast out on the patio, and I typed up yesterday’s blog (Day15, 22-11-2008), which was three pages and a dozen pictures, as yesterday was so busy.
Around 11.30 we went and sat round the pool to catch some rays, and have a swim, the day was hot, hot, hot, I cooked a rasher of bacon on Caroline’s belly.
We had only an hour and a bit, in the sun which is more than enough, then drove over to the camping store we like, only some minor purchases today some plastic plates, plastic beakers and polycarbonate knives forks and spoons, stuff that we will need on the trip.
Tonight’s plan is a cracker, we are going up to the Glass house Mountains to test the new Burke and Willis Swag out, I think Caroline is a little nervous, about camping on the ground in such a remote location, but we will be fine, we are taking our supper up there as they have a couple of these
Clean BBQ
After Andys skivvying we have a good result gas barbies we have mentioned previuosly, and we will also take our Whisperlite, mountaineering stove so we can at least brew a cup of tea.
We are just getting our stuff ready and the Sony Cybershot will be with us to capture the moments.
I wasn’t going to update anymore today, but I’ve just got to do so. We left the apartment at around 5.45 pm all loaded with our stuff so we could stay out tonight in the new Swag.
We had food for the Barbie and our overnight gear, sleeping bags etc. The Glasshouse mountains are absolutely beautiful and there is a scenic lookout. En route we stopped to watch Eastern Grey Kangaroo’s grazing in the field. The lookout has about six of the BBQ’s we were describing.
We cooked our supper and by time we had finished it was pitch black, I mean pitch, not even any moon light. The night sky was a showstopper so big and full of stars.
We set the Swag up and zipped up the mozzy net to stop the little blighters getting in. it was quite a windy night, and all credit to Caroline, as I know
Cooking
Once Andy cleaned the bbq from the previous occupants he made a mess of it again. she felt uneasy.
As we were walking back to our car to put something away we happened across a snake who was minding his own business, about 2ft long and fairly small. We do not know what it was but were careful all the same. We are going to send the pictures off to Australia Zoo and ask them to identify it for us.
The night was warm, full of apprehension and strange noises, we heard the crunching of dry leaves, and when we went to investigate found it was a cane toad. The Swag was extremely comfortable, I am so impressed with the quality and ease of use.
