Oysters
I actually haven't heard the term Rocky Mountain Oysters, but am familiar with Prairie Oysters. But that comes from living in Saskatchewan which is prairie and mostly flat. I thought I had put a comment on your blog, but don't see anything past April 12th. Of course I could be wrong as I do also comment on FaceBook. Anyway, glad you are back blogging and back at the 'farm', a place you certainly enjoy. Take care.

Flippin the coin!!
Hi Guys, we hope you are all well, and thanks for your comments. We appreciate how perceptive you are and dedicated to the blog so, we are happy to share some secret information, that has "not" been posted on the blog yet. We leave the flat next Friday 17th May to go travelling, as since Caroline gave up Serco last May, she has been unable to secure any work and we have become stale in Canberra, just treading water waiting for something to happen. As we are in an election year, all the public service jobs are locked down and will be like this until at least after September, so we came to the decision to go and travel until 2014 and we will see what happens from there. Our loose travel plan is to head right up the centre of Australia, get to Alice Springs then flip a coin, Heads to Darwin, Tails to Perth. We will get back on the blogging as we appreciate we have been slack and are in the process of giving our blog profile a bit of a face lift, our new blog entries will contain some more statistical data for our readers, including stuff like coordinates that can be viewed on Google earth, mileage covered etc etc. We will soon have typed a million words and love it when you send us comments so please don't stop. Our best regards Kangaroojack

Must say, the wombat is a much cuter and friendlier visitor than a bear or buffalo! Don't know what I would do if I found one in my tent. Thanks for sharing~! :)

That's one camping trip sure to never be forgotten! Wildlife make the best visitors ito campsites. The last time we had a tent-visitor it was a buffalo (fortunately it stayed *outside*); I think I'll take a wombat! It looks positively cute, if not a little mischievous.

Flat tyres
I always expected that I would get a flat tyre at some stage but I never expected my tire would explode. We were driving out of Kempsey (NSW) when there was a "BANG" from the back and the camper began to wobble all over the road (a bit scary when you're doing 100kph). We pulled off to the side of the road and had a look. You can see from the photo what we found . Went to change the wheel and discovered that the nut size on the camper was different from the car so our brace wouldn't undo them (now remedied). Had to call the NRMA. Sitting at the side of the Pacific Highway while cars and trucks roared past was pretty scary. You don't realise how fast those people are going until you stop! We set out our three emergency triangles at 100 metre intervals before the camper (commended by the NRMA guy) and waited with heart in mouth hoping we wouldn't be hit by a careless car/truck. Obviously we survived but it was rather scary. We are off up to the North NSW coast next week. Sylvia has finally finished her quilt for her son and we are going to deliver it. We may be in Canberra in May. If so, can we have a coffee together? John.

Beautiful trip home
Hi there you two just had a quick read of your blog and pics...glad you had a great time at Wheelers we had an awesome trip home down to Benambra along Beloka track and then on to Anglers Rest and over Falls Creek took us about 5 hours a bit longer going that way than over Hotham but we had come via Hotham so it was a nice change..Graeme has a couple of details on the truck for you it is an International D1110 fitted with an International 345 V8 glad you liked her...she got us home with no problems we had a few back fires ... but after we switched her off the gas and on to petrol and ran along for a while then went back to gas we seemed to have solved the problem no more backfiring...we think that the carby ?? or something must get dry and needs to have the petrol run through to moisten up the works so as no air gets through?? anyway so far so good Graeme thought it may be time to give the carby a bit of a freshen up with a new kit...keep enjoying and living the dream xx

Reversing the camper
My heart was in my mouth just reading your description. I'm not game to take my camper into that sort of terrain. Doubt that my Subaru would handle it with the camper, even though it is All Wheel Drive. I once had to reverse about 2 km when I ended up down a dead-end track and that was on the flat. Never again. Very wary now of going down roads/tracks when I don't know where they go. PS: Now you are an Aussie, you are allowed not to blog if you don't want to. It is in the Constitution. Section 116 (as interpreted by the High Court): "The Commonwealth shall not make any law for the publishing of any blog, or for imposing any blog observance, or for prohibiting the free publication of any blog, and no blogging test shall be required as a qualification for any office or public trust under the Commonwealth." Hope this puts your mind at rest.

The Blog
Hi Both, Thanks for your comments,I have to say that I am getting my sparkle back for the blog and am enjoying it again, when we were travelling originally we used to do it every day, without fail, except if we did not have any internet access which was rare. It started out as a mechanism, not for us to only blog our lives but for everyone else to tellus what was going on in their lives which didn't happen that much. We just love getting comments still on the blog so thank you, and may be up your way soon,it would be great to catch up. My regards Mr Kangaroojack (Andy)

Convoy
Hi Andy, Mistake! Your comment "....With only three of us in our little convoy, we chose to sit at the back as we would probably be slightly slower than the others as we were towing...." I thought the whole principle of convoys was, the slowest/most vulnerable up front? Just being picky guys. Great Blog! I usually get them read to me by Willy, but this time I got here first. What you guys are doing is what most of us would like to do, so keep on doing it! I was thinking of starting my own Blog, as we had such an exciting Flat White on Sunday and looking forward to another today, although we will make it a bit more exciting by changing the venue, Wow! Anyway, apart from your tidying up your Convoy procedures, it seems like you are doing just great, and we wish you all the best! Love from Willy & Chris from the New Forest

Jealousy is a curse
but I'm jealous anyway. Love your new setup. Thanks for keeping blogging. It may be ordinary for you but it keeps the rest of us inspired. Congrats on the citizenship, you both deserve it (but keep your UK passport. It makes going back to Europe a lot easier. Even though we are now married, Sylvia gets lots of grief going through passport control in the UK with her Oz passport). John

Thanks for your comments
Hi Chris, Thanks for your comments, technically you are correct, they should cater or the slowest vehicle, but with the use of UHF radio's in all our trucks can let them get a move on. I am glad you hadan interesting flat white and nearly blogged it,when I was reading this I was eating a slightly amuzing vanilla slice, that Caroline scoffed half of. Hope all is well with you guys, our love to you both. A&C

Hello again!
Good to hear from Kangaroo Jack again. I was beginning to think your last entry "Logging Off" had a hidden message! Anyway, congratulations on finally achieving your Australian citizenship. You had such a lengthy battle there. Hope you enjoy the new vehicle. I'm looking forward to reading more of your adventures.

Re your message
Hi Anne, Thanks for your message, its just been a bit disjointed this year really, we have been lucky to have so much to write about, but the blog just seem to be to much work. The last one I wriote and published yesterday, (Bells and Smells) was just such a trudge to write, possibly becasue it wa hanging around for so long. We do have some pretty big news, which we will share, all I can say for now is Today 28th Mrch 2013 is day 1, and we hope to be turning out some more exciting blogs, so read in to that what you can, until we make our anouncement. Just me being nosey, where abouts in the world are you. My regards Kangaroojack

Christmas Beetles
Hi Guys, Sorry to correct you but, your Cicadas are actually Christmas Beetles, (a type of scarab beetle) so called because they arrive around Christmas time each year and hang around over Christmas/New Year. They are similar to cicadas in the way that they emerge from the soil after summer rains have softened the ground sufficiently enough for them to be able to dig their way out. They feed on eucalypts (gum trees) and swarms of them can strip the foliage from a tree in a very short period of time. Their lifespan is short-lived but they will be around in droves over the holiday season and you see them mostly at night as they are attracted by outdoor lighting. They don't bite but do tickle and feel a bit scratchy when crawling over your hand or up your arm because of the tiny spikes on their legs. :) Great to see you a couple of days ago and looking forward to seeing you again soon. :) Love, J xxx

Beetles!
Hi Jan, thanks for the correction, we had not even considered that, caught up on the moment, there were hundreds of them and of course they are not cicadas I can see that now, they look nothing like a cicada! Pretty impressive swarm. Xx

Glad to see you are enjoying the new camper
We have just returned from a month in Qld. Fortunately avoided the worst of the heat and the rains although it was 43C the day we arrived back in Budgewoi. We need to do a few maintenance tasks around the house over the next months so I doubt we will get away again till June/July. Have you thought about fitting your rig with a water filter and a proper pump? We added one and it made a huge difference to the quality of what we were drinking? The only thing you have to watch out for is that you have a manual way of accessing the water tank if the pump fails. John.

Water Pump
Hi John and Sylvia, thanks for your comment. We do have an electric pump and a manual pump on the trailer, the manual pump is handy when you are on the road and fancy a drink of water. However we had not thought about a filter, that would be a great idea as the water quality varies so much and we have had our fair share of disgusting tasting water! Mind you, the mountain water from Harrietville was pretty good. C

Happy New Year to you both! You on a diet Mr Trenfield? I trust you are not too tied up with the Fires? But equally, I bet there as many moans about the heat as there is here about the rain? Anyway, Take care the both of you! Love and Best Wishes Chris and Willemien
