Our flight from Hamilton Island to Brisbane was uneventful, and since we were flying JetStar, there was no fear about proper identification this time! We arrived in Brisbane in the late afternoon, and we took the SkyTrain from the airport. It was easy, and a good walk from Central Station brought us to our hotel - the Chifley. Considering we booked the hotel online, and got quite a good deal for right in the CBD, we weren’t sure what we were getting - but it was perfect! A hotel which caters to business travellers within walking distance to everything! When we arrived at the hotel, there was a message from our Fraser Island tour operator… after calling, I found that they were cancelling the 3-day Fraser Island trip, but had saved us two seats on the ... read more

Fraser Island is a sand island. It is 123kms long and the width varies from 5-25kms. It has some of the cleanest/clearest lakes in the world which is good because you will get eaten by a shark for sure if you swim in the ocean. Our tour guide told us that someone was eaten in only 30 cm of water. and it is home to over 200 dingoes. ( if you feed or encourage the dingoes to come to you you could get a fine up to 3500 dollars) The roads on the island are all sand which makes for a very very bumpy ride. on the second day we got a flat tire!!! one of the lakes we went to had a huge sand dune right beside it so you could run or roll down ... read more

Running away from Brisbane 23-29/06/06 Up early and finish the packing, then try to eat breakfast; the YHA, which has 165 bed spaces, is incredibly poorly equipped and has the grand total of three spoons in the kitchen, ten mugs, about the same number of bowls but, oddly, hundreds of knives. Stupidly we are on the porage today as we need the fuel for cycling, so while Vernon cooks the breakfast I stand next to two people who are eating cereal (and selfishly using 67% of the hostel's spoon supply) and as soon as they have finished I get their spoons and bowls off them. Stopping only to perform the same trick on two tea drinkers, I race back into the kitchen with my booty, wash it, dry it and jealously guard it until the chef ... read more

Dear All, Since my last entry, we've done a hell of a lot. We went ot the Blue Mountains, where we saw lots of beauitful scenery and stayed with Claire's great Aunt ( who spoilt us rotten) and took us on a vertical train ride down the side of a moutain! Had a brilliant time there. We then had a 14 hour train ride to Brisbane and then a 2 hour coach ride to Marochydore. Marochydore was full beaches and palm trees, had a relaxing few days there. We also went to Australia Zoo ( Steve Irwin's zoo) which was so much fun. Saw tigers, crocodiles, koalas, it was masssive. I also got to feed an elephant! We then went to Noosa which I loved, we had a very sociable hostel which had lot sof BBQ's ... read more

Sharks again? Nope..this is the main rule when dealing with Dingo Safety. We have made it to Fraser Island, home to Australia's most purebred dingo's. So far the East coast has kind of left us lacking in excitement. The surf is always good but it is just same same in every town. Crawling with all the flashpackers (our new word for fancy backbackers who bring heels and other fancy things) it is a bit uninteresting. So, we hopped over to Fraser in hope of an adventure. It is the first of our last 3 big ticket items in this trip and it was sweet! Imagine a giant sandpit for adults and kids and then you are half way there. Fraser Island is the worlds biggest sand island but the ecology is only one of the many ... read more

To all subscribers and viewers, This trip was quite interesting. Fraser Island for those of you who don't know is the worlds largest sand island. That means that the entire thing is made of sand. Quite spectacular once you see that there is a rainforest growing right out of the sand and that the sand dunes are enourmous. The highlights of the island are that it has some of the most amazing lakes in the world. These lakes have white beaches and crystal clear waters. The camping trip I went on to Fraser consisted of myself, 8 girls, a four wheel drive vehicle, camping gear, food to cook and our passion for adventure. At least I brought along my passion for adventure. I can't say the same for all the girls at my camp. We had ... read more

Hello again.......We are extremely sorry that it has been absolutely ages since blogging, you all must be getting fed up with waiting!!! The time over the past couple of months has gone at a lightening speed so we have fell well behind, but do not despair we will continue with our blogging and will be right upto date ASAP. When we last left you we were on our way to Hervey Bay. Well, after a 5 hour coach trip (with an idiot girl sitting behind us singing the 'La la la Long' song - our worst nightmare come true - yeah thanks to Inner Circle & 'Sweat'!!!) we arrived at 9pm. We were picked up by our hostel minibus. As we had an early start in the morning we sorted our bags out and got an ... read more

Caute, no nebolo to safari, len taka guided tour a vozili nas hore dole po takom pieskovom ostrove plnom dingov (to su tie zlte psy) Trochu na skodu veci bolo, ze sme z nich nevideli ani jedneho :), ale zato sme videli super hrib, ktory v noci svieti velmi pekne na zltozeleno.
