How soon we forget. I wrote this blog in June 2020 to celebrate our first weekend away following the closing of Australia's international and state borders due to the Covid Pandemic. Time to reflect...this is what I wrote back then and then returned to my Covid Cocoon as millions in the World were confined to their homes or died around us. And in 2022 it is floods, floods & more floods that submerge the East Coast of Oz and the usually bone dry interior. And the third World power (after USA & China) that I warned you of on our return from Russia in late 2019 has reared its ugly side in 2022...no more dancing in Putin's pastures ahead...only images of unbridled savagery, blitzkrieg and dread! ****** But back in 2019 & 2020... Bushfires ravage the ... read more

Like everyone else, our life is paused during the COVID-19 pandemic - travel restrictions and common sense means we need to stay put for a while. At this stage we are staying at the Gateway Village in Grafton... until further notice. Please stay home as much as possible and be physically anti social - stay safe and healthy. Feel free to call, email or message us any time (I'm not totally anti-social).... read more

With all the Long Weekend Worriers, concerned about where to find a camp along Cobrams' Little Toms Beach on the Mighty Murray River, Morningbird and Little flower did the noble thing and offered up our prime piece of camp real estate to the lucky ducks that were eyeing off our first class riverside camp. The eager camping buzzards were circling, so we high tailed it out of our serene riverside camp and made our way back to Tocumwal at Brother Ron and Roxanne's for a weekend of family fun. It would all start late Saturday afternoon right in Tocumwal with a Hot Rod "show and shine" and a concert in the park with Elvis the King of Rock, entertaining the festive crowd in the balmy autumn sun. Brandishing deck chairs and eskys we set up camp ... read more

While still waiting for our house to be rented out, we decided to continue to travel but stay fairly close to Grafton. Since the last trip was out West it's time for the beach. The first week was spent at Lorikeet Park on Corindi/Arrawarra Beach - very relaxing. The beach was a only short walk from our site, but the beach access was through a wetland with millions of mozzies... We had a trip to Woolgoolga to add a bird to my family tree tattoo, and another to do a top-up shop. Although the shop had limited stock, we were able to get most of our normal items. We had quite a bit of rain over the week but still managed a few long walks on the beach :-) The second week was a week at ... read more

Left Goulburn heading out to the Southern Highlands and through some back country .... very green and much like the Waikato except for more contour, a big dairy farming district the Southern Highlands ... Gourmet Meat Pies everywhere and has become our breakfast/lunch go to with a good coffee mid day. The historic towns became very Scottish Bundanoon Exeter, Mossvale and Bowral, didn't get out to Berrima popular for cherries. Stopped at Bundanoon for the Pie Shop and Coffee, drove around ... looks like these places are popular with the Sydney'ites for their cycling walking holidays and properties getting pricey. Made a detour from Mossvale out to Fitzroy Falls and took the short walk to have a look, did the round trip about 60 kms and saw the Fitzroy Water Reservoir ... nice drive back to ... read more

Drove on towards Albury and had a look at Rutherglen another very old town, didn't stop carried on through vineyards and old mansions to Albury, rolled in about 4pm and very much like Cambridge with lots of oak trees down all streets ... a bit bigger than Cambridge but very nice.
