This is our home in Wollongong. We live in International House at the University of Wollongong. We are just an hour and a half away from Sydney by train. International House is convieniently located halfway between the University and the beach... we've definately been taking advantage of the location! We didn't take any photos of our rooms because they are small, dorm like, and gross and we didn't want you to feel bad for us. Just kidding! But really they are not exciting... and kind of gross. Wollongong isn't that exciting of a place to live, but its got a good location and the weather is georgeous. Here are a few pictures of the beach near our place... the campus is also beautiful and looks like a zoo. We haven't taken any pictures yet. ... read more

Well well well....where should I start? This puppy is probably going to be a long one since we are on the road on Monday and now we have to pay for internet access...Booooo! We have bought a lovely new car. Is is a 1988 Holden Commadore (spelling??). It was $1000 (500 each) Its name is "Spanky - the pirate car" A few facts.... When you turn on the AC it makes a high pitched whine like an uptight vacume cleaner or hair blower.. There is something of metallic substance that drags on the ground underneath..no one knows what it is.. We will never know how many kms are on it because that section of the car hasn't worked since 1988 - this is the only thing we might get fixed...Its good to know how far a ... read more

The wedding was fantastic. The ceremony was at the beach. It was a little cloudy with some sunny breaks, which made for a really nice temperature. Michelles dress was super hot and the look on JRs face when she walked down the stairs was priceless. Michelle never wears revealing outfits. The ceremony was short and sweet, completed by the release of 12 monarch butterflies at the end. That was a perfect touch... On to the party..... Tenneal and I spent all afternoon helping Michelle & JR get set up. We were put on candy floss detail. This meant we had to make 25 little bunches of floss for the kids. At first it was fun...at first....After a few hours of flossing we were finally done. We took the floss up the hill to the wedding shed ... read more

Judge not..you have no idea what a rainy day in Oz will make you do. Until yesterday I had no idea just what we were fully capable of... So we are sitting by the pool dreaming of the beach, a little bored. Tenneal looks over at the quad parked beside her...."We have a quad" Avril looks at the plastic garbage bin lid..."We have a garbage bin lid" Michelle looks on the ground..."Oh look we have some rope!" All 3 girls look at each other and nod...it must be done...... read more

I have now left the city after an amazing 2 weeks. Louise is now travelling up the east coast whilst I am going south towards Melbourne. It was sad saying goodbye to Louise as we got on so well and shared some great times :) We celebrated my last night in the city by going to a BBQ and then Scubar again. Monday nights are always busy as it's Crab Racing, which ironically is rubbish! At the BBQ this time we brought our own drinks and some crisps as well. I discovered and bought the most amazing thing ever.......Malibu and Coke....in a can! I couldn't believe it when I saw it, my drinks...in a can...perfect! BBQ was scrummy and we played cards with some guys from UK, the loser had to jump in the pool fully ... read more

I have fallen in love and we’ve only been here…11 days….My new love is fierce at times, yet always beautiful. My new love pulls me along, sometimes whether I want to go or not. My new love is mysterious, holding so many secrets and adventures. My new love is dangerous and often deceiving, yet can be calm and peaceful as well…oh yes, you guessed it…the ocean - my new love. We have been body boarding all day. It has honestly been one of the best days I’ve had in a long time. There were huge swells ripping into the shore all morning. I have never had the (wo)man against nature feeling like I did today. I can see how some people see the ocean as having a personality. It almost feels like a living being choosing ... read more

So I fulfilled my requirement as a tourist here when Alf took Karen and I to Symbio Wildlife Refuge, south of Sydney in Wollongong. And can we just say that I loved every second of it!!!!!!!! We won't mind that everyone else there was with little kids; I guess I'm just a kid at heart who eats this stuff up! Didn't get to hold a koala but got to hang out with the kangaroos so I cannot complain. Afterward, we went to nearby Illawarra to admire the views of the coast from up above, as well as drive along the new coastal bridge that just opened last week. For dinner we had barbequed kangaroo. No really, we did. In one day I got to play with them and eat them; can't get any better than that! ... read more
