Ooohhh… I can feel myself slowing down as I can feel this amazing holiday coming to an end. When we got home last night, I intended to make a cup of tea before bed. It didn’t happen. I went into my bedroom to get sorted, and what actually happened…was absolutely nothing! No shower, no teeth cleaned, no cup of tea, I don’t even think I managed a good night…. Because I intended coming back out of the room!!! I saw the bed, got my pjs on, and stayed there until 9:15 this morning!!! You know what they say….. I must have needed it….ha ha Both Bernard, and Gavin went to work at the crack of Dawn this morning. I heard nothing! I’m unsure of what I might do today, but I’ll definitely do my best to ... read more

After the mornings walk and a good lunch, we all had some quality downtime back at the YHA. Some late evening pool was great fun. Cas and Ed vs Hat and I. We won't record just how many shots were taken before a ball was potted.... read more

Only a three hour hop from Aukland to Sydney and with the very early start and time changes we were in Australia in time for second breakfast. Cas bought four Opal passes for trains and buses (think Oyster card) and we took the link train into the city. There was an eccentric biker on the train who struck up a conversation and he called Ed a dude because he was travelling the world, had a back pack on, a straw Stetson and a white water rafting t shirt. Ed was slightly embarrassed, but also chuffed at the same time. Then it was five minute walk from Central station to The Youth Hostel at Railway Square. It's a cool place, the old station turned into accommodation for travellers. The music was on loud and there were chalk ... read more

With the two hour time difference we were the first ones up and about. Cas went out in search of coffee and a bakery and we sat down in the communal eating/chill out area and had a feast.... read more

We have a private room with four bunks. Cas tried to book us into one of the converted trains but they couldn't sleep four in one room. At £65 per night for all of us in a major Western capital, it's brilliant value. The bunk beds were a novelty for us and, because we've been having daily instalments of Harry Potter, they immediately reminded us of the Gryffindor dorms. As you'd expect, Ed and Hat were on the rooftop bunks and Hat made me laugh with her Rapunzel act.... read more

Christmas Eve-So it's Christmas Eve and I'm thinking of Nan ❤️ Can't quite believe it's two years since I had to say goodbye to one of the most precious people in my life. After a little lie in me and Lauren went shopping for either something red or white for the red and white party in our hostel's bar tonight. It took us a while but we both found a bargain. I got a red halter neck playsuit for fifteen bucks....steal! It's a little big, but it was cheap! On the way home I picked up my first box of goon and a mini midori for a special occasion. When we got back to the hostel we didn't have long before we had to get ready to leave for our bridge climb and I realised I ... read more

Where to start with Sydney - another wonderful city. We arrived late Wednesday evening are staying in a studio with kitchen so went out to get provisions. We're in a very busy area near China Town and loads of back-packing accommodation - bohemian, multi-cultural. Thursday - yes you guessed it - the HOHO bus. This was great as Sydney is a big city with loads of different sections so we saw an awful lot from the Opera House, the Harbour Bridge, through to Bondi beach and you learn so much about both the historical and modern places of interest. We're staying very close to Darling Harbour which is packed with restaurants so went to eat there in the evening. On Friday we took a tour to the Blue Mountains. These are about an hour or so ... read more

Well after waking up early to wish Chris my son a happy birthday and happy new year as he is in the UK, I decided to get a couple of more shut eyes - plus my brain was still hurting from the alcohol. When we did decide to rise and shine we decided as we were still delicate that we would watch the news to see the new year being brought in around the world - well London you did us proud. I think next year that is where I should see the new year in. We went down to the harbour around 3 pm and there were so many people some still trying to find their way home from the night before but everyone seems to be in great spirits. We had booked a lunch ... read more

So we have arrived out our apartment in Sydney and to be honest it is not in a bad position and we have checked out where we are going tomorrow night - which is in the botanical gardens now it is called a Lawn with a View if it is where I think then it is utterly fantastic and bleeding hell lives up to its name. Anyway after checking tomorrow night out and going into Apple in Sydney to sort out my photo downloading at this moment thank god I did as needed to reload Adobe Reader again lets hope everything works I sorted out a few things I needed to do - love apple (only when it works). So we find a nice little restaurant in the Rocks called Caminetto which was italian (no way ... read more
