Part I I am, more or less, two hours away from my destination and I feel tired, I can't get some sleep, maybe I'm just not used to a long travel. My usual flight takes 2 to 3.5 hours as all were in Asia. I don't know what to expect when I arrived but I'm really excited for tomorrow's event. Wondering if there might be some familiar faces around to mingle with but hope to make new acquaintances too. Yesterday I woke up early to finalize my itinerary and I'll try to adhere to it as much as possible, unless something comes up. I have checked the weather as well for the coming week, it would be windy and a bit of showers on the first 2 days; and temperature ranges from 9 to 17 degrees ... read more

Spent the morning packing and preparing to move onto Melbourne. Went out to grab some lunch, visited China town and Paddies Market before settling on the quayside to watch the finals of the dragon boat racing. Back to the apartment to change then out to meet relatives. Great evening.... read more

A good flight from Auckland to Sydney. Impressive to see the harbour bridge and opera house from 6000 feet. Took a while to get transfer from the airport to hotel organised and then was I glad I did not have to drive into the city in the evening rush hour. When we got to our accomodation it turns out that it was a dockside warehouse now tastefully converted into apartments. You should have seen the smile on our faces when we were told that we had been upgraded from a studio apartment to a duplex two bedroom penthouse on the top floor. When we travelled up in the express lift and then opened the door to our apartment we realised it was almost as big as our bungalow. We unpacked and then found a supermarket to ... read more

G'day everyone, ok, gave you an idea where we're staying, now I know you're all envious, don't be, I will try and get some night time photos for you if you want !! All joking apart, it has saved us a bomb on accommodation in Sydney, as I said before, very expensive here. So we have just had dinner in a very nice pub, special offer, steak, chips and salad, yummie. We're sat by the bridge, getting dark now, but we have wi-fi here so doing all the updates we can. Well today we set off walking again, walk walk and lots of walking in very hot weather, but not complaining, just incase you think I am !! So we decided I needed a bit of scaring again, well why not, it's been a while !!! ... read more

Hello followers, During this week a colleague from work took me out for an awesome game of squash, we played for approximately 2 hours. I obviously lost every-time because I've never played squash before ^^. Same for being on a bike, the ride on the bike was really relaxing after a busy day at work ;). On the 23th of May Sydney kicked of the lights - Vivid Sydney festival ! Vivid Sydney is a festival of light, music and ideas that includes large-scale light installations and projections through to music performances and the holding of conferences and seminars on ideas and creativity. The festival is wide spread from a special Aquatique show on Darling Harbour till the main street lighted buildings at 'Circular Quay'! After seeing the Aquatique show at the harbour I've went with ... read more

Our last day in Sydney and it is Bernie's birthday. To celebrate, a whale watching tour has been booked which we are both very excited about as we headed to Circular Quay again to find some breakfast/brunch. We thought that there would be more to choose from for breakfast along the harbour, but most places on the Western side of the harbour (opposite the Opera House) were deserted. We ventured up into The Rocks and ended up going to 'Pancakes on the Rocks'. When we went past last night there was a queue down the stairs and onto the street. The queue was only slightly shorter this morning; Sydney-siders must love their pancakes! We strolled through The Rocks Sunday market and then wandered back to Circular Quay for our whale watching tour. It's quite early in ... read more

Good Afternoon, or evening/ night for those in Merry England. So an eventful week this week, but not alot of touristy stuff took place as to be frank the weather has been awful. Mr Maullin's parting comment to me was ' remember your hat and sun cream as you will burn' Well to be frank I have considered buying a coat. On wednesday I went for my interview at the city council and managed to get some work for the next 3 months with the possibility of extending it to the maximum my visa allows of 6 months. They employ around twenty eho's so the prospect of movement and possible sponsorship is on the cards if I want to take it. The pay is more than double my wage in the UK, but the cost of ... read more
