Hi everyone, Let me introduce myself, although I USED to be very familiar to some of you in years gone by. My name is Ken. I'm a lonely little camel who used to travel the world with my very good human friends, Mel and Gareth. They have recently left home to go on yet another adventure, and shock and horror! they left me at home - on top of the kitchen cupboard, no less! Anyway, I have decided to set out on my own adventure and discover new horizons. Yes Mel and Gareth, I'm leaving home. I won't be able to travel too far on my own because I only have short legs!... read more

So, it’s April Fools and Maundy Thursday, marking the start of Easter and, I’m sorry to report, it looks as if we’re both coming down with something. Hopefully not serious, but sore throats and sniffles are the last thing we want when we’ve got a long journey to Sydney. Anyway, we thought we’d press on, so that we could have some rest time if we really needed it. Last night we’d stayed at a proper site with the most fantastic lake views, and they were even more beautiful this morning. We went down to the end of the peninsula that we were on (Paynesfield) and spent some time looking at the wonderful scenery and cars loading on to the ferry out to an outlying island. I also poked my head in to the local craft shop. ... read more

Mooring east of Eden. Our port of call was supposed to be Bateman’s Bay but was cancelled at the last minute. Certain improvements to the harbor were not made as promised and the mouth of the estuary is surrounded by sand bars and quite shallow. The Captain decided that it was too dangerous to call and instead we diverted to Eden. Instead of rushing to shore, I took advantage of the quiet and stayed on board in the morning. After taking my walk I took my Kindle and went to the pool for a dip and soaked up a little sun. I enjoyed a Mexican lunch poolside and then I indulged myself in a massage and facial. By then it was close to four so I decided to take the tender and explore Eden. There were ... read more

Canberra was lovely. So lovely that I would’ve liked to have stayed a week, and visited many other local attractions. Onward and Southward we went, though, and Thursday afternoon we arrived at Eden on the far South Coast of NSW. Eden is a gorgeous little fishing village surrounded by State and National Parks. It was once home to a thriving tuna industry which closed some time ago and left the locals and some keen fishermen behind. It's one of those places where you could just stay for weeks. It’s certainly a place I could live, except for those long cold winters! We stayed in a Caravan Park because, believe it or not, the national parks are more expensive to stay at! We’ve found that this is the case in every instance we’ve enquired about camping in ... read more

On Thursday we packed a picnic lunch and went exploring down the south coast. We turned off the highway onto all the tourist drives so as we could explore all the little coastal inlets and towns. We travelled to places such as:- Cottagee, Gillards Beach,Tarthra, Merimbula, Pambula and then all the way down to Eden. It was a long day and quite wet but the scenery was beautiful. We got back to the van in time for a quiet dinner.... read more

Nope, we haven’t disappeared into the depths of Australia (not yet anyway) and haven’t succumbed to any Australian nasties, we’ve just been having fun and I’ve been very slack with the blog! Since I last wrote, we have made our way from Albury through parts of the Kosciusko National Park, Canberra and then finally to the NSW south coast. In my last blog I left you in the rain at Cobram and since then we have had our fair share of heavy rain but fortunately our little house is still standing. We have been caught a few times putting the tent up in thundery showers and we have noticed each other secretly scowling, enviously at others with beautiful caravans who just pull up along side us, put down the legs and hop straight inside to put ... read more

She’s finally here and you’re finally getting to hear about it! Our third granddaughter, Maya Joy Hockings was born at 3:40pm on Friday 17th July at Bega District Hospital. The vital statistics at birth were 3.4kg, 50.5cm tall, 36cm head and stunningly beautiful. Hi Folks, Chages, changes! I didn't like the route in the Snowy Mtns, so I decided to continue up the coast! Continued varied riding, forests, farm country, salt marshes and of course the ocean. Also managed about 60k on a rail trail where I saw an Echidna! The biggest surprise was a 4 foot Goana crossing the road!!! Wow, I tried to get a photo but he was so fast and by the time I had the camera out, he was about 12 feet up a big gum tree!!! I've come through a number of little towns, Traralgon, Bairnsdale, Orbost, Cann River, Mallacoota, and I'm presently in Eden and it's raining like crazy! The thunder and lightening chased me into town, but at least I beat it this time!!! Take care all!!!! George... read more

Hello, Must be heaven, all the names with Twelve Apostels, Devils Marbles, Eden, Paradise Beach and so on. Anyway, we are about to start the ending of our Australian interludium. Going up the eastcoast now, heading for Sydney by the 30th of May, as our campervan has to be delivered in the depot in Belmore. Time to discover this beautiful coastline south of Sydney, hopping from beach to beach, taking scenic drives, and having good luck as the sun came back on our adventure. People told us the whales are moving in fromthe artic seas, saw some dolfins today, but no killer or other whales so far. It is getting dark by 5.00 PM so time to start thinking about dinner tonight. Hallo, Lijkt wel bijbels, namen als Twaalfs Apostels, Devils Marbels ( geen juiste vertaling ... read more
