Fox Gloves Gardens

at Tilba Tilba
To-day we packed up and headed north for Merry Beach (1/2 hour north of Batemans Bay). We decided to spend the day sightseeing on the way. Our first stop was at a little town called Tilba Tilba where we stopped and visited the Foxglove Gardens. We enjoyed spending time wandering through the gardens. We then travelled to a town called Kianga for Morning Tea (Tourist Drive 5). Along the way we saw an echidna crossing the road. Poor Steve tried to pull up the van so as I could run back and take a photo. I just caught him before he [View Full Entry]

Today we decided to spend the day at Bermagui. It was nice to have a day when we weren't travelling. We walked into Town and hired a kayak and did a 21/2 hour paddle up the river. It was very cold and windy but it was a lot of fun - once we got ourselves co-ordinated with the paddling. LOL. We then went back to the van and had lunch and a walk followed by dinner at the local RSL club. [View Full Entry]

On Thursday we packed a picnic lunch and went exploring down the south coast. We turned off the highway onto all the tourist drives so as we could explore all the little coastal inlets and towns. We travelled to places such as:- Cottagee, Gillards Beach,Tarthra, Merimbula, Pambula and then all the way down to Eden. It was a long day and quite wet but the scenery was beautiful. We got back to the van in time for a quiet dinner. [View Full Entry]

We had a lovely trip along the Monaro Highway and down to the South East Coast. We travelled through some lovely country towns and stopped for lunch at Nimitabel and purchased some lovely homemade jam and lemon spread. It was very windy travelling down Browns Mountain and we called into Pipers lookout to admire the views. We drove through Bega and then headed North to Bermagui. We stayed at the Zane Grey Caravan Park. I would recommend this park. It is in a beautiful position and we had views of the water from our caravan. We stayed here for 3 nights. [View Full Entry]

On Monday morning Steve and I set off for Canberra. We had a good trip down and arrived late in the afternoon. We stayed at the Canberra Motor Village. The caravan park was a bit like a parking lot, no trees or views, but it was close to my niece's place and handy to the city of Canberra. We settled in and then went to visit Steve's brother and his family. On Tuesday morning we drove into the City and visited Lake Burleigh Griffin. In the afternoon we drove down to the Cotter River - a place I frequented often as [View Full Entry]

Weekend in Melbourne Oceania » Australia » Victoria » Melbourne
Steve and I flew to Melbourne to surprise my brother Andrew and take him out to dinner to celebrate his 50th birthday. We stayed at the 'Mantra on Jolimont' Hotel which was very close to the MCG and the Rod Laver Stadium. On Saturday morning we caught the train out to Andrew and Jane's house. Andrew got a wonderful surprise when we walked in unannounced. My nephew, Simon, had his basketball grand final on that afternoon so we went to barrack for the team. They played very well and won the Grand Final. On Saturday evening Andrew and Jane and my [View Full Entry]

This lovely dining table was made my Steve's brother, Rob during his Year 12 woodwork class. He made it for Sarah and Steve. I took some photos when it was on display at the school. Rob made it for his Year 12 Major Woodwork Project. It is beautiful isn't it. [View Full Entry]
