It has been a while. Since the last post we have crossed five different time zones and four different countries with four different flights. After leaving Kathmandu we flew to Delhi where we spent two nights with Maan in an improved experience of India, despite the intial chaos of once again coming into conflict with a taxi driver getting us to the right place. From the airport we wanted to go to Paschim Vihar; instead we were taken to Vasant Vihar. It was half our fault though and it got worked out in the end after much boken communication, phone calling, and accepting our potential fate to wander the streets for a night. From Delhi we flew to Kuwait where we spent the night in a riduclously luxurious hotel, a novel break away from the places ... read more

Our morning started with a much needed sleep in. We packed our bags, checked out and headed for one last look at the lake. Knowing this was going to be our last day in Canada we bought some maple flavoured biscuits and fudge, which was supposed to last the trip home and got as far as 20 minutes into our bus trip. From there we headed back to wait for our bus. There was a wedding being set up for some people at our motel and it was a great day. At 12.15 we headed out to wait for our bus. This is when our day spiralled quickly out of control. Our bus was supposed to meet us at 12.15, however, someone at the Chateau decided to run 15 minutes late and expected everyone to wait ... read more

We got an early start to the day as its our last full day here in Seattle. Tomorrow we will be flying out to start a new adventure in Yellowstone National Park! Looking forward to going to YNP but kind of sad to be leaving Seattle. First up for the day we headed to Ballard to check out the Hiram M Chittenden Locks. What an amazing place this is. The Locks, built in 1911 and often nicknamed the Ballard Locks, provides a link for boats between the salt water of Puget Sound and the fresh water of the Ship Canal, which connects eastward to Lake Union and Lake Washington. Tourists and locals enjoy watching the parade of sailboats, motorboats, tugs, barges and yachts passing through, as the locks' water levels are adjusted to allow their safe ... read more

Our inn keeper Linda provided us with some super ideas for a road trip outside the Seattle area. Off we headed - starting out by using the Washington state ferry to Bainbridge Island. The ferry is huge - cars are loaded onto the ferry and then passengers are welcome to sit upstairs in the lounge. The ferry has a restaurant and a bar onboard. The trip takes around 30 minutes and cost $20. Great views of Seattle are seen from onboard the ferry. Once we disembarked off the ferry we drove through numerous quaint small towns including Suquamish, Poulso, Port Gamble and Chimacum. We drove through Hood Canal and then over the Bridge - The Hood Canal Bridge is a floating bridge located in the U.S. state of Washington that carries Washington State Route 104 across ... read more

Weather today was intermittent Showers and temperatures reaching a maximum of 8 degrees Celcius. Caught the bus downtown and attended another weight watchers meeting. Staff were real friendly - insisting we stay for the meeting and happy to show us around the venue. Its been fantastic having the opportunity meeting other WW staff and members. From there we walked along Pine Street looking at all the xmas stalls and decorations along the way. We stopped by the Pikes Place Market Place again - it's hard not to keep dropping by - the whole market place has a great vibe about it! The Pike Market Fish Place, founded in 1930, is an open air fish market located in Seattle, at the corner of Pike Street and Pike Place. It is known for their tradition of fishmongers throwing ... read more

Woke up feeling absolutely rested - the bed here at our B&B is so comfortable and we slept so well. After breakfast we met another couple who are staying at the B&B who are from Sweden. It's great meeting so many people and learning about their lives. The bus stop to downtown is only a few minutes walk from here and is a flat rate of $2.25 per ride. We got off just before Pikes Market Place to collect our rental vehicle from SIX T In downtown. We upgraded from an economy size car to an Audi - Total cost including insurance $183 for 5 days hire. Very nice vehicle but it took us some time to figure out how to even get it started! Geoff is fantastic at being able to drive over here so ... read more

With a 10 hour stop-over here in Sacromento we checked in our carry on luggage and took a walk downtown. What a surprise it was to learn this is the home of the polar express train! Tickets sell out months in advance. They go on sale in September and sell out in 15 minutes. So no ride on the polar express for us but it was still it lovely to see such xmas spirit happening in town. We watched the Macy's Xmas theatre light show in the street centre - really feels like xmas here - very different from home in Australia. The train left Sacromento at midnight By which time we were a bit over sitting in the lounge. The Coast Starlight left on time at 12.15am. We got into our sleeper , grabbed a ... read more
