So I am off to London on the 17th of December. Whilst staying in a few hostels and enjoying the local pubs, I will be interviewing for a job with the Imaginative Traveller. If offered the position as tour leader I will be off to SEAsia or perhaps Egypt within a few short weeks thereafter. This interview is something I look forward to and only mildly dread. I am surprisingly calm, but certain this will morph into complete panic as I exit the train in Ipswitch and board the bus that will drop me acrross from their office in Suffolk. I can only be as prepared as one can by reading travel guides and attempting to learn basic phrases. Though I am positive that my pronounciations of Thai words would probably repulse a native speaker of ... read more

Posted by: Onaxthiel: We hung out in Imagisme and Catalysts' apartment until they had both headed off to work. Luckily, this delayed our departure until the Boston traffic pattern had slowed down somewhat. The weather was quite cooperative for a day of seeing Revolutionary War sights. Our route was out towards Lexington and Concord, the two targets of British raids that triggered violent confrontations resulting in the War of Independence. I have to give a hand to the British infantry of the day. They marched 20 miles from Boston harbor, out to Concord, conducted searches of suspect homes, then a return 20 mile foot march, all in less than 24 hours, taking fire during the entire exfiltration. That would be quite painful. Truth be told, I imagine that I would barely be moving for the next ... read more

I am finally home and back in Rhode Island!! The trip was amazing, but I am exhausted. It's going to take a few days to feel "back to normal". Just wanted to take this time for thanks: - to the McNamee's for their hospitality - to Mark for the ride on the scooter and to the airport - to Brian for the hospitality - to the Georges' for their hospitality - to the midget for making me smile - to Jimmy Buffett for opening up a Margaritaville in Vegas! - to Joe for showing me the Grand Canyon - to Mullet, who never gave up at the buffet - to the dude who let me use his surf board once while I was in the Pacific Ocean - to the girl who thought I was "cool" ... read more

rhode islandChristoph HallI've been trying once again to keep up with blogging but there isn't a lot of time to do so. I usually write them in Notepad and then cut and paste them when I can get internet. Even then it can be difficult as everyone needs to check their e-mail etc.. Driving to Providence from NYC was pretty painless and were still driving on the vegoil that we picked up in that small town on the New York/Pennsylvania border. The bumpy NYC roads cracked the front windshield a little more and the already sketchy passenger side mirror had become an obstacle for NYC bicyclists that couldn't avoid it. I seemed about every 20 minutes or so a guy on a bike would ram his shoulder into the mirror while we were parked. The mirror ... read more

We welcome all our loyal subscribers to our second glob trotting adventure. South east Asia, mainly Thailand, has been a destination Aless has been anxious to visit for as long as I’ve know her. I suspect that if she had originally known my true motive for insisting we visit Peru two years ago, Machu Pichu would have remained a figment of my imagination. One of the most difficult issues about flying from North America to Asia is that you need to start so early in the morning. Most flights leave either from Chicago or LA (the two main departure points) leave in the late morning. The problem, of course, is that we live in neither of those cities. We found a good deal from Providence RI over to Chicago leaving at 6:30 AM, so we decided ... read more

DESTINATION: NEWPORT, RHODE ISLAND--SEUFER6 Thursday, March 1, 2007 Today we woke up to a gorgeous day here in Newport. Probably the nicest day since we got here. Jessica and Tanner did a couple of hours of school work while the rest of us busied ourselves with getting ready for the day. 2 hours later we loaded the minivan with sweatshirts, sandwiches, waters and various snacks, we decided to take full advantage of this beautiful day and drive to Cape Cod, Massachusetts's. The drive was gorgeous and relaxing. We made it to what is called the Upper Cape in about 50 minutes. We drove into a small town and went to the first beach we saw. This kids were hungry and anxious to see the beach. After walking around, we found an area out of the cool ... read more

SEUFER6: DESTINATION: NEWPORT, RHODE ISLAND & MYSTIC CONNECTICUT Monday-February 26-Friday March 2, 2007 MONDAY, FEBRUARY 26, 2007 Today we woke up to 3-4 inches of snow. It snowed most of the morning. Jessica and Tanner needed to get caught up on school work so we decided to make it a stay home day. Boy they worked hard most of the day, so we decided to reward them by dropping them off at the game room in the clubhouse to play while Lilly and Emma had a nap. They played there for 2 hours and seemed to have fun. After they got home we decided to rent some movies and have pizza. The kids enjoyed the movie Lassie, while Ty and I watched an adult movie called Little Miss Sunshine. We had a nice family day. TUESDAY, ... read more
