Our trip started with our decision to take the train to the airport instead of being dropped off by one of the kids directly to the airport. Diane and I both took the entire day off even though our flight was not until late in the evening. The train option seemed like a good one right until the point where the train stopped only minutes after leaving the station. Apparently, an automobile was stranded on a railroad crossing that blocked our train. The train was reversed and returned to Norristown transportation Center. As it appeared the situation was not going to be resolved anytime soon, it was decision time. Since we had plenty of time to get to the airport on time, we decided to call and Uber. This turned out be a great decision. We ... read more

So bear with me if there are misspelled words and the grammar is incorrect. Thanks for reading. Also, I've changed the format for the most recent entry to be on top.Monday was a VERY full day for us. We started off at 7:30am and didn't end up until 10:30pm at night. Besides visiting extensively with Verna, then going over to Calvary Home to visit with Pat and then Dr. Eric Crichton, we then drove 1 hour towards Pottstown, PA to visit with the Depues. We first met John and Phoebe in 1986 when first arriving at the SAM base in Santa Cruz. Matter of fact they were ... read more

How you can afford a U.S Roadtrip You think you can’t, but with a little guidance, you probably can. If you follow these suggestions your vacation is not going to be necessarily luxurious or relaxing or even comfortable. But just keep in mind that all of your “hardships” will be endured for the greater cause of exploring the country and seeing all it has to offer! THE MONEY I am going to be upfront here and say that I spent about $2,400 dollars on this trip. Whether you think this is steep or not, just keep in mind that this number covered all expenses including gas and car trouble for a 5 week period driving coast to coast and viewing 10 different states. I personally think that this amount is much more than I should have ... read more

Well, only 4 days left until I'm on a few different planes to take me to Nadi located on the western coast of Fiji. Finally started packing this morning, and though it seems I've done a lot I know there is SO much more to do. Can't believe how quickly this day is approaching, but I don't think I've ever been more excited for anything in my life. to be continued...... read more

It is really hard to describe how beautiful the simple things in the States appear after coming from the dust, concrete jungle of Beijing, that also frequently struggles with polluted air and a press of humanity. This morning I took a few minutes to marvel at the flowers popping through the dirt in the garden. It is even funny to think 'even the dirt seems clean!' I guess our middle son must be processing through the same thoughts as he played in his Pop-pop's backyard with his brother “hey, you don't even have to watch out for the poop in the grass!” I guess the literally thousands of dogs in our neighborhood back home in Beijing have left a clear impression on him! Whew … the other adventure of the day was sorting through the mountain ... read more

Yum! It is good to be back for St. Patrick's Day. Tonight I enjoyed a quiet meal with my mother of some traditional boiled corned-beef, potato, beans, and cabbage. Later when comparing notes with my wife, it turns out she had a similar meal with her mother! While there are many traditions surrounding this great man of God. I would encourage everyone to take a few minutes and discover how God worked in and through this man: ... read more

18th of november: We visited Planet Aid's clothes collection warehouse, where we got to know what happens with the collected pieces, from when they come in from the collectors until they go out the warehouse. We tried out ourselves by sorting Toys from shoes and clothes. 19th of november: We accompanied an action where the containers in town, got "updated" and checked if they are in good conditions and have all information written on and if the locks where the supposed ones. If something was missing, the information missing (like phone number, company code.. ) where added and locks if nessasary changed. It was a nice action to see some of the neighborhoods in Philadelphia, which show a big contrast very close to one another. 20th of november: Two of us did kind of the same ... read more

Stayed with my mama and scott. They had just built a new bed and got a new mattress and linens - you wouldn't think allergies would be a problem. Well just ask Trav - coughing and sneezing every time we lay down to sleep. Got some work with Scott doing odd jobs like putting up walls in the basement, resealing a roof, painting a porch, ripping up floors and so forth. Matt and Marcella got married and the old gang got together. We met my friends for happy hours and Travis embroidered patches while i read my stack of library books. Hung out with Derek and went on adventures to the produce store with the excitement of knowing we could go home and cook a good meal after walking through the park. Time to chill out, ... read more
