We went on a ferry from Lopez back to Seattle where we couch surfed at a guy i met when i came through seattle a few years ago. Then we headed to Vashon and got to stay with Adrian and Simon, my hobo friends from Alaska, and their baby girl OMI FINCH. so great to spend time with them. I worked on writing my essay to Berea and got to have great socializing at night. and Simons job doing outdoor maintenance and trail building seems like a dream. I left north Carolina on a bus and went to Nashville to see my friend Katie. Then I headed to Seattle and met up with Travis there. We got picked up and went to Nick and Melissa's house. All the guys in nick's bridal party were in one place for the first time and everyone enjoyed each other. We had a great time and the wedding was held out on Neah Bay on the Olympic Peninsula. Our friends Sam and Shamba had moved from the valley near the camp and up into the mountains a little ways and told me i might be able to come out there and help out on the farm. So i went out there. done. And lived in an A-frame with a room attached and loved it. the Love shack it was named. And sam and shamba where in their tipi down the road and the family in between was wonderful. Travis came out there and stayed with me during one of his two week breaks from work in the fall. The guys and i headed from PA to Detroit to stay with one of Joshs good friends. We went to a diner in the morning and heard about what detoit is now. We saw what Detroit is now. Its empty. Done. but things are starting low down. things are building. Then we stopped in Kalamazoo to get a beer at Bells before dropping Travis off with Liz. And we headed on. After suddenly left camp and i went home to see my father in PA since he had gotten really sick. I stayed there for a while and worked with my mother's husband doing some pick up construction and saw old friends. Got to take a trip with many friends from highschool out to the shore for a weekend of relaxing and hanging out together. re-fell in love with Rumi thanks to a book by SARK. Continuing to work as cooks at the camp. Long days and beautiful nature when you had the time to stop and explore and look around as if for the first time. And the beautiful women, hope and sarah got to stop by. and we were able to go hiking for a few days and find the most beautiful swimming hole that i have ever been to. with rocks to jump off of, waterfalls to slide down, whirlpools to stand in, rocks to slip and slide into the river. We got a weekend of from work at Camp and took off. We went to Tori's apartment and explored beautiful places. She took us to Compression Falls which is a steep hike in from the road and then you arrive at three consecutive falls that you can climb and swim up to the top and then jump off all of them in a row. After the spring sessions at camp we headed into the summer and staff moved in. We became certified EPI givers. and it work, it was all the time. i made baskets and dream catchers and lots and lots of food. My old friend, Barak, from Boston was getting married in Charleston. None of the rest of our boston posse could make it, so i went to represent the thing we had. Rented a car - how responsible - Camped outside at a hostel in Charleston and went to the wedding. The day following the wedding we went to the beach and explored Charleston a little bit. It was Memorial Day weekend and everywhere in the town was crowded. So we did what we could and decided to drive to Asheville instead of spending the last night in Charleston.
