My friends back yard
I made my first trip to Cincinnati, Ohio. Bill has made a visit last year. So we have both been to Cincinnati, but not together. I went on a mission (a quick 3 nights/2days) to photograph maternity photos for our friend. It was a quick visit and we spent most of the 2 days I was there doing maternity photos and MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! Photos turned out great and we had a good time doing them. I found Cincinnati to be really charming. I love the old colonial style architecture and the country side is really spectacular, even on over cast rainy [View Full Entry]

Brought Puffkin with us starting this week! She was uncomfortable at first but has gotten used to it. Went to Weyers Cave in Virginia and unloaded. Had to go back to York PA, but this time to a different place. We had to pick up beans at a Hanover Foods factory. It smelled pretty good out there, and was out in the middle of nowhere. Needed a bypass pretty bad. We delievered this to a Richfoods place in Richmond Virginia. It was a chaotic, horribly organized distribution center. Kevin used a company check to pay a "lumper" (and without a doubt, [View Full Entry]

I'm still down at Xavier and I am dying for this semester to end! This is my last week of classes and I have finals next week. I wish I didn't have to concentrate on finals and could do a ton of research for Spain. I bought a lot of travel books on Spain, maps, a grammar workbook, and several children's fairy tales in Spanish to help me refresh. I don't have a Spanish class this semester and I'm a little worried. Once you get to the Unversity of the Basque Country (where I'm taking classes), you have to take [View Full Entry]

Ft. Knox to Cincinnati Kristin B.Here I am! In lovely, wonderful Cincinnati! I am so in love with this hotel room I have decided not to drive to Michigan tomorrow. I was only coming up to grab a carful of stuff, but decided there was nothing I desperately needed. That, and there's a Saks outlet across the street in the mall. I'll just come up for finals like I had planned, so my friends, be on the lookout! I should be home around the 23rd! I'm also getting an amazing chance to catch up (and even get ahead) with my [View Full Entry]

Getting dressed in the morning
Getting dressed in the morning
It may not be exactly as spacious as home, but it'll do!
Our trip began, not so promptly, at 2:00AM this morning. The 51 Cardinal was supposed to reach Cincinnati at 1:10 AM but in what I'm told is typical Amtrak fashion, it was running an hour behind. When we finally got on board, our room was surprisingly large. We splurged and reserved the full-blown bedroom for the fist leg of our trip (Cincinnati to Chicago) as we expected to be tired, boarding at 1:10 AM. There's a double-bed down low which folds up into a couch when not in use, an upper single bunk which we use to stow our bags, a [View Full Entry]

With a little over two weeks before our departure, I had one last trip to make, the Flying Pig (Cincinnati) Marathon. Call me crazy, but it was my third marathon of the year. I know that I probably won't get another one in before the end of the year (well, perhaps Singapore, but we'll see when the time comes), so another one seemed like a good idea when I registered a few months ago. Also, it was a good excuse for a roadtrip with my running buddies. Our last trip together for a while as I'll be gone and another friend [View Full Entry]

WARNING....BORING BLOG! Hello there my sugar plums! I dearly miss you all and need many hugs when I get home and to La. You can start scheduling appointments with my secretary....oh sorry...administrative assistant, Markuz. OH...tear. I just saw a commercial for "Visit California." Miss it soooo much. On to other things. We had a rough week of driving. Lots of it. We left Indianaplois and went to Des Moines. It was cute, but we didn't really experience it. We did a show and left. We headed to Evansville/Tilden Illinois. The teachers were great. So were the kids. They love [View Full Entry]

It is still snowing. I am just hoping that it won't be a problem when i fly out for New York next week. I gladly made lunch yesterday using fresh Chicken that we got an this amazing International market the other day known as Jungle Jim's. This supermarket has food from all over the world (including Australia). IT is fresh and cheap. They had quite a few varieties of asian vegetables like bok choy and english spinach. I was almost in heaven. They also have about 2 dozen varieties of NAan breads. I bought some Lindt chocolates to give to my [View Full Entry]

Today is a GREAT day. I have logged onto the ISIS website to get my results everyday for the last two weeks and saw that my results were delayed. Today however it said.... Drumroll..... H1 Honours first class. It is just midday so when i let out an audible gasp and then asked Randy and Jacob if they could open some Champagne they obliged. It's been in the fridge for a few days. Thankyou so much to everyone who suffered with me. It is a miracle. 7 weeks ago i was in hospital. Today i have my results and i am [View Full Entry]

Today was a day of contrasts. I went to Randy's Church in the morning at Forest Park, Cincinnati. This is the church where Randy works and i got to see him conduct an orchestra performing Mozart's Coronation Mass. Not exactly the drums, guitars and saxophone i am used to. It was really lovely. Two walls of the triangle shaped main church space were made up of large panels of stained glass that told the story of the bible and history. It was realitively contemporary so after a while you could make out large skyscraper lik buildings and a space shuttle. [View Full Entry]
