Well, I am getting ready to leave. I leave tomorrow at 5:45 a.m. from Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport. I fly into Chicago, have about a 2 hr lay over and then I am on my way to London!!! I should arrive about 10:45 p.m. local time. Then, I am going to catch a bus to Kingston upon Thames to stay with Josh for the evening. Today I finished up the last of my shopping, so I now have everything. Just have to reorganize and right now I am not focused to do such an activity. I have been online most of today doing random things. I also ran the last of my errands and drove around the Twin Cities listening to music and just enjoying my last few days in Minnesota. I also went out to ... read more

Greetings, all! Welcome to my travel blog! This site is for friends and family to stay in touch while Marni, Joni, Marc, Fred and Joan are traveling around Europe over Christmas. I'll try not to make it too boring, but I make no guarantees. This first posting is prior to departure. It should get better once we're in Europe :-) As you can see by the photos it's going to be another white Christmas in Minnesota! Fred and Joan arrived in a cloud of snow around noon today and made their first stop at White Castle on their way to our house. Now they're sleeping it off :-) I don't understand how they could have arrived on time with all this snow because I'm always delayed on sunny days. Hmmmmm. Joni's finishing her finals today and ... read more

We quit work on September 7th and took the last 12 days to prepare for our trip. I can honestly say that it has been the busiest 12 days of my life. Everyday, from 9am until 1am we have been doing things constantly. Every day is spent running erands and getting things in order for the trip, while every night is spent with friends or family, . Its been a manic two weeks and its been wonderful to see so many of our friends. Its hard to believe that tomorrow is our last day here and that at 9am on Monday our adventure starts. I will try my best to make sure that we keep this travelblog up to date and add copius amounts of pictures to our stories. Always feel free to write us and ... read more

Howdy Partners! Have now spent so much time in the mid-west I feel like a pro-cowgirl. Can ride a horse, drive cattle and ride bulls with the best of 'em. After LA, cousins Michael, Heather, Spenser & Mallory v. kindly put us up for a few days. It was brilliant to see them all and they really looked after us. Have been 'hiking' in Yosemite and the Rockies, learnt about the Mormons in Salt Lake City, spent some time at a beautiful Ranch in Wyoming, seen 200 bears (in a safari park) and visited so many amazing little towns where we were the only people not wearing cowboy gear! One bar really made me feel like I was on a movie set for an old western and Karl was convinced the cowboys would 'make him dance' ... read more

PAT: Last night while packing, I had the TV on. What should be playing but Smokey & The Bandit!!! Now I'm inspired for that long road trip! Before Smokey & The Bandit the movie Easy Rider was on, another good road trip movie. I can't comment on any inspiration that movie might provide...mom my might be reading this. This morning sure started off on the wrong foot. I set my alarm for 5:30am to get into work early so I could leave by 10am. Either I shut off the alarm and went back to bed or it never went off and i didnt' get up until 8am. I guess I'll look at the positives and by happy for the extra 2.5 hours of sleep I got. As if that wasn't enough, on they way to work ... read more

I've decided to do a current journal and fill in South America steadily. Sorry that it's all over the place. After Curitiba when went up the Sao Paulo, for a night then ducked up to Rio for our plane to New York. We nearly froze when we got off the plane at 6am, but over the next few days covered most of what there is to see in the Big Apple. Lundy headed over to London on the 15th, so it was a bit strange saying bye in the subway after travelling for so long together. I will be glad however to not have to throw any more pillows at him to stop the snoring (hehehe, sorry Lundy). The next day I went to Chicago, which wasn't any warmer, and then caught a plane to Minneapolis. ... read more
