A BAD START The Flight That Wasn’t Ok, so it has been a very long time since we have really traveled, I mean the kind of travel that involves a plane not just a quick train ride to Philly. We were scheduled to leave at 9:05 pm on Thursday; Jerry rearranged his work schedule so we could get the NJ transit to Newark Airport. Well you know what they say about the best laid plans. The flight was cancelled, and I will not even go into the customer service nightmare I had to deal with that. Long and short of it was our flight was rescheduled to 7:30 am, meaning we had to get up at 3:30 am. Apologies for the blog free days but we have been very busy in Maine eating lobster, mooching (and I might have read a book or two...). After Salisbury we dipped into Portsmouth and dipped out again fairly quickly after realising it was a bit like Bromley only with less shops. Carried on up the coast spending a night in York, then on to Boothbay Harbour, a really pretty harbour village. We found a great campsite right on the shore and had a very peaceful time wandering about the port, looking at yachts and classic New England houses. The next morning we went to Pemaquid Point. Hi all, hope this finds everyone fit and well. So we left the beautiful Niagara Falls 10 days ago to explore the New England states (Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island & Connecticut) , and while it's been chilly it really is a beautiful part of the world. By far, the scenery has been the highlight. We thoroughly enjoyed visiting Vermont, though had to change our route, as we couldn't cross the river by ferry, as it was frozen. Not a consideration where we come from! North Conway in New Hampshire was picturesque with very friendly people and the coast in Cape Cod was lovely to see, more so waliking on the foreshore, it reminded us of Albany, WA. Today was a beautiful day. A little cool but sunny. We spent most of the day catching up on laundry, etc. Sometimes when you are travelling, it is good to have a day that you can just rest a bit. And, like I mentioned the other day, it seems like there is always some kind of maintenance to attend to on an RV. It is just like a home..it is always something. This afternoon we drove to Bar Harbor. It is really a nice little town. I believe that the population is around 5,000. I think the Bar Harbor area covers about 63 square miles.
