Savannah GA Brunswick GA Blythe Island Region Park Day 42 - 43 We are back at Blythe Island! Mark & Karen wanted to come back to Brunswick, GA and we realized this campground is only 15 minutes from Brunswick. When Angel and I stopped on our way south we did not see much outside of the campground. Once again when I made the reservations I asked for two sites next to each other, and for pull through sites. We were assigned back in sites, very far apart. When we checked in, I asked again and the receptionist said, they were very full but she would try. She was able to move us, and as we went through the campground over fifty percent of the sites were empty. I really do not understand people. Arriving at our ... read more

Blythe Island Regional Park, Brunswick GA Trip Day 3 Travel Day 3 Another very smooth easy start of the day. We were the first RV to leave Ellerbe Farm, and Harold was up and working before we left. He had already collect eggs from the chickens, and was delivering them to the campers that had ordered them. Getting out of Ellerbe's was very easy, The jeep was still connected, we did not have power, water or sewer hooked up, so all we had to do was pull the slides in, and lift the leveling jacks. Both of them are done by pushing buttons, Angel handled this while I checked the lights and that everthing outside was clear. I did find one of turn signals on the jeep was not working. I did some trouble shooting but ... read more

Travels with Snowbirds 2018, Santee State Park to Golden Isles RV Park, Brunswick,GA. The one about asking for prayers Shit, it was cold last night. Something about being inside a metal box when it’s very hot or very cold. Nasty. I went to bed under my down comforter, wearing my cotton hat, my fuzzy socks, and electric blanket on top. The covers were so heavy on me I couldn’t move, but I was warm. I woke up in the middle of the night sweating. I got rid of the electric blanket and the hat and slept on until 7:30. Temperature 30 outside, 42 inside. I walked Winston quickly, broke camp, which consisted of putting my steps away, unplugged electricity and hit the road by 8:30. I pointed south towards Pooler, Georgia, and the large Walmart and ... read more

Today is a travel day, and so I finally have a chance to sit down, gather my thoughts (which seem a little scattered today, so I apologize ahead of time!), and reflect over the past week or so. After leaving the Vero Beach area, we spent a number of days pushing ahead to cover some ground. Not that we are honestly in much of a hurry to leave the sunny south. But time is slipping by, and we do want to get back to Dover at least a few weeks before school starts. And the coastline is a whole lot longer than I anticipated, when broken into 30-50 miles/day chunks! And, there are still many things to see in Georgia, South and North Carolina and beyond. My dear “fellow boater” friend, Nancy, and I were chatting ... read more

Last night was the coldest I have ever spent in Moya. I had the furnace on until I went to bed at 10:30. I have 2 space heaters. One is just awful, the other is so so. I have a third one at home, very small but puts out a out a lot of heat. Why oh why did I leave that one home. Well, the so so one spit and died. The awful one was in an outside compartment. In 20 degree windy 10:30 pajamas, hat, etc., I grab the lousy one out of the compartment and turned it on. What makes this one so lousy is it doesn’t get really hot ever. Not that I would leave it on HOT HOT all night long, but something reasonable. Fortunately I have a plushy heated throw. ... read more

Kayak and moving Happy Birthday Lisa Friday was the day I was going to get out on the river. There was so much going on all week that I just didn't have time but today was the day. I walked with Oscar over to the river to decide where I would put the kayak in and where to park the van. The spot scoped out and home I went to inflate the kayak and get myself dressed in shorts and my water shoes. The spot I had planned to park the van was now taken so I put the kayak on the bank, drove back to my site and left the van and walked back to the river. Getting in was easier than I anticipated and off I was floating on the river. I headed upstream ... read more

Travels with Snowbirds January 1-2, 2016, Wilmington, NC to Brunswick, GA Dedicated to my friend, Barb. (She’s in the hospital) I hope this gives you a laugh or two, Barb. I don’t know whether to title this one, “My Son Thinks I Am Losing It” or It’s All About Being Old.” Perhaps they mean the same thing; you decide. I am back on the road. It has not been without it’s issues, just getting to the point when I am truly ‘on the road,’ so I will back up, because I think it’s a good story. I don’t know how often I will blog this year. I will be staying at my favorite campground with my RVing girlies for 6 weeks. Life there can get pretty boring to write about, but, as you know, I can ... read more

Good-bye's are never easy and the one with our son, Cory, and his family is so difficult. It is wonderful when we are with them but when we have to leave, it becomes so apparent how much we miss them. ????. I hope we will see them again soon. Last evening, we went to the Mellow Mushroom restaurant. Rachael is working there on her college break as their hostess......And she is "The Hostess with The Mostest". The food there is delicious and bountiful. We got on the road @ 9:30 the morning. For a moment I was nervous because I couldn't find my pocketbook. This is getting to be a bit much and way too stressful. Fortunately, it was quickly located in our car but geez, it is not helping my blood pressure. Perhaps it is ... read more

Today has arrived! It's a day of celebration and farewells. Today we celebrate two birthdays: our grandson, Ryan Knapp and our dear friend, Sandy Foreman. Happy Birthday to Yoooooo....that's Cory and me singing to both of them at the top of our lungs. Lulu is humming the Happy tune. The Knapp family flew home today. We had to say our farewells yesterday as they headed to the Sandford airport at 5:20 AM today. Their flight left at 8:00 & they landed in Elmira, NY just over two hours later....it still seems so amazing to me to wake up in Florida and be home in New York in such a short time. Thank you, Orville and Wilbur! Yesterday, we had our good bye lunch at Flippers Pizza in Old Town with Lory, Jay, Sara, Sam & Sandy. ... read more

2/27/2014 - Got up this morning and rode to Savanah first to the Eighth Air Force Museum, Savanah River Walk and Speed's Kitchen. The Eighth Air Force Museum is definitely a good see. If around Savanah go to the museum. Had lunch at Sonic :-). Did the Savanah River Walk - very interesting, the old buildings, the small shops, the restaurants, and such. Earlier, Mike Paul had given Shelby T and autographed copy of his book, "Bridge Over Cedar Creek'. Very good read, Mike has a unique writing style where you feel as if you are in the story with him. Mike, Diane, and two of their friends - Steve and Vickie met us at Speed's Kitchen. If you are anywhere around Shellman's Bluff/Townsend, GA this is a must stop. The restaurant is several classroom trailer ... read more
