5/1/2012 - Murfreesboro, TN to Acworth, GA. Got up early this morning, around 6am. Slept hard, but a little hot at Wal-Marts. Shelby's back so bad this am had to take some Tylenol, not a good sign. Ready to get home and rest a little. Had the motorhome washed at Exit 318 on I75. Like stop here for washes as it is just north of home and they usually do a good job. The two guys that washed this time did a very thorough job. Cost was $51.00. The "redneck Mexican" did good again. If you stop here, just ask for the "redneck Mexican" tell him Taylor sent you :-). We are now in Bartow County, we feel we are home when we cross that line....getting back home on Tyler Taylor's (grandson) birthday. OK, WE ARE ... read more

4/30/2012 - Headed for Murfreesboro, TN. We left the Ozark Country Campground this morning in the rain. It had been raining since the early hours of morning. Finally got ahead of the rain down the road. Stopped at Pilot for gas on I24, was going to spend the night, but they were full. Found a Popeye's Chicken to get supper, the inside was closed, could not drive through, so we waliked the drive through lane. The person at the window was worried about us being in the traffic lane and went to get the manager. After some explanation as to why the motorhome could not fit through the drive through, the manager laughed and opened the door for us. Found a Wal-Mart and crashed for the night. Shelby T is having problems with the hip and ... read more

4/29/2012 - Mickey Gilley Show Lounged around the motorhome today, Aleta washed up the bedclothes getting ready for the road tomorrow morning. Shelby T lounged around and read. Later that evening we went to the Mickey Gilley Show. Very interesting how, he told his life history in his music. He did all 17 of his #1 hits and more. We bought a DVD of the show. We were recognized during the show as being from Mickey's home town of Ferriday, La. Mickey performed from a chair most of the show, but his voice was still very strong. Mickey took a fall a few years back while assisting a friend move some furniture and severely damaged his back. Does not play the piano now, but his goal is to get back to it. After the show we ... read more

4/27/2012 - Jack & Barbara left for Florida this morning. We slept in and then left around noon to visit Aleta's sister in Bella Vista, AR. She has had some health problems, but recovering well. Fran had prepared a good supper for us and we enjoyed it with them. Smothered pork chops with potatoes, onions, and carrots. Then Fran and Johnny took us for a ride around Bella Vista, Rogers, and Bentonville. Saw the first store opened by Sam Walton - The Walton's 5 & 10. You can really tell this is the home of Wal-Mart with all the corporate buildings in this area. On the way back to Branson, we stopped off for a square dance with the Ridge Rockers of Pea Ridge, AR. Was a really enloyable dance and all the dancers were friendly. ... read more

4/26/2012 - Began travel around 9:30am today headed to Branson, MO. Short pull today rather than the 360 miles of yesterday. Stopped at Lambert's Cafe for lunch. Along with your meal they throw fresh rolls to you, bring blackeye peas, fried okra, fried potatoes with onions, and molasses for your rolls to your table. There are three of the Lambert's Cafes, the #1 in Sikeston, MO, #2 in Ozark, Mo, and #3 in Foley, AL. We made it to Branson Ozark Country Campground. We are on site A1 with Jack/Barbara on A2. Jack/Barbara here only one night. We went to the Pierce Arrow show tonight, really good show. Luke Menard who was on American Idol is part of the group. Dakota, the granddaughter who broke her arm is a big fan of Luke. Aleta got all ... read more

4/25/2012 - Got woke up early today with the news that Dakota, our granddaughter; had broken her arm while playing volleyball. Filled up with propane and gasoline before leaving Dodge City, KS. Stopped in Greensburg, KS to see the "Big Well", the largest hand dug well in the USA. The well was closed for viewing due to construction around the well. Will re-open on May 26th. Continued on to Coffeyville, KS. This is the hometown of the Daltons. Also was the town where the gang attempted to rob two banks at the same time. This did not work out to well for the Dalton Gang due to one of the banks having a timelock on the safe. The ten minute delay waiting on the timelock allowed the townspeople to realize what was happening, gather together, get ... read more

4/24/2012 - Before starting out today, we had breakfast of bacon, sausage, eggs, and biscuits. Biscuits cooked by Jack in the Taylor's oven and the rest cooked by me - - Shelby T. Visited Boot Hill today. Boot Hill got it's name from the fact that those buried in Boot Hill were unknown in the area, broke, of a reputation such that the townspeople would not bury them in the church cemetery. They were typically wrapped in a blanket fully dressed, even with their "boots" on and buried. Hince the name "Boot Hill". The museum was interesting. Later rode out to a viewpoint of the Santa Fe Trail. Not a lot to see here except the historical markers. Had jalapeno burgers on the grill for supper - - yummmmmmmmy!!! Watched the results of Dancing With The ... read more

4/23/2012 - Left the motorhome around 11am headed to St Jacobs Well. This is a natural well out in the rolling hills of Kansas which has never been known to dry up and also no one knows how deep it is. It is known to have been visited by peoples of this area and those traveling through for hundreds of years. The water is a clear brown color. The imagination can run wild while standing by the well. While in this area of the Big Basin Reserve, we did some riding looking for the bison. One road was washed out at a draw, so Aleta says I went back to my teen years - - - she covered her eyes and I made a new road up out of the draw. Once safely on top, Jack ... read more
