After repacking all of the suitcases with the purchases, we now have 4 full cases instead of the 2 we left the cruise ship with. We take a slow meander southwards on the A1A then go over the estuary onto the 1 still going south. We made a few stops along the way for some final items and for some additional supplies. Lunch today was at Cracker Barrel. This is another of our favourite eateries. George had the chicken dinner and there was honestly enough there for two of us except that Theresa is not keen on chicken on the bone. He managed to eat it all though and commented on how tasty it was. Tonight we are staying at the Motel 8 in Fort Pierce. This gets us about half way to Fort Lauderdale for ... read more

Hooray today I get to be sweep (back of the pack) with Amanda! Amanda is another radiant rider that I’m excited to get to know. She has killer dance moves and knows all the lyrics to all the songs. I think she may be the new Rally...! This morning our chore groups rotated so me and the Ellies are now in charge of helping clean up the host site, aka overnight crew. After packing up, sharing bagels and coffee, and vacuuming up the host, we had route meeting outside with a view of the intracoastal peeping through our parking lot. I threw it out there that we would be near the Loggerhead Marina and to check it out bc “I like turtles” has been a running joke, though no one took me up on it since ... read more

Since our return to the states, we have been set up in our motorhome in Vero Beach. We have been steadily working on the catamaran to prepare her for our trip south. After Gene working tirelessly on her (as well as the trawler and the Mako) for several years, we have put in a concentrated effort since our return from Europe in October. She is finally ready for launch. Launch videos & ... read more

You have heard no news from us in a while. This is because we had to make a very hard decision this past spring and we were waiting to see what came of it.... Caribee, as you know, was supposed to be our winter job. We were heading for Anguilla to do day charters between December and April, and Caribee would stay and wait out the summer months while we returned to our more regular jobs at home. You also know we had setbacks and issues, and as of this past spring we has still not reached Anguilla... not for lack of trying. The crash in Nassau showed us how difficult and alone you are for tows and repairs out of North American waters, and we have to admit it deflated us quite a bit that ... read more

Hi Everyone, We have had an eventful couple of weeks since our last blog. After leaving Tennessee, we returned to a couple of our favourite places to share with Jason, including Savannah and Saint Augustine, where we were lucky enough to run into our Pirate Friend on the way to Daytona. The boys spent a glorious 2 hours touring the Daytona International Speedway (while I enjoyed some pampering). This is the birth place of Nascar. Before it was built in 1959, cars were raced on Daytona Beach. Now that would be something to see! On our way down to the Florida Keys we went through a little town called Naples. It is the home to Americas most expensive zipcode, Port Royal, WOW! We found a cheap little place, for a cool 20 million dollars, with an ... read more

It has been quite a while....... Just after our last post visitors starting coming down the coast. Friends from our yacht club in Montreal have condos in Fort Pierce and come to stay in November and December, and both Makasi from RSTLYC and One Life who used to be at the club as well passed by on their way south. We also had a visit with friends from work whom we had not seen in a while...from Toronto and Oklahoma. T&TKiss from RSTLYC pulled in for a months stay in our marina around the same time. It was great to see everyone! A crazy few weeks for us. We went home for Christmas this year, the first time in a few years. It was a perfect drive home with no weather issues. We went to stay ... read more

We arrived back on Caribee about three weeks ago, and we were very happy with her condition. We had put in an air conditioner and left it set at around 80 degrees, we had all the light blocked out with our window covers, we stored all linens and clothes in air tight bags, we had moisture trapping bags in all rooms, and a fan to circulate things. We also had someone come in and check things once a month, and fix any situation that might come up. We heard it was a very wet summer with driving rains from all directions, and we had water in the bilge. Talking to others on the dock made us more relaxed though- many people with otherwise dry boats had water for the first time as well. Caribee did very ... read more

It will be three weeks tomorrow that we are living in Cracker Boy Boat Works fixing the damage from Nassau. First off I must say living in the yard is not so bad- we are at the end of the yard near the water. We see a wonderful orange glow over Harbortown Marina next door in the morning, we have beautiful sunset views, and views of the birds leaving and returning to Birdie Island at dusk and dawn. There is a songbird who wakes us up every morning with a myriad of tunes, and the blue jays and red cardinals have just arrived from I don't know where. Everyone here is very helpful and friendly, and we have the occasional bbq get togethers at the water's edge where the boat slips are. The downside of course ... read more
