Day 31 - Hutchinson to Limon Thanks to the storm the night before, the morning was much cooler and a lot less humid. We made an early start with a goal of hitting the west side of Denver by mid afternoon. We made good time on I-70 and were soon in Colorado. We stopped at a nifty looking diner in Flagler for lunch and then hit the road again. About an hour later we were flagged by a passing car that there was something wrong with the trailer tire. We pulled off in Agate to find that we've lost another bearing on the trailer. Oh Joy! This time, the bearing basically exploded and took the inner/outer bearings, hub assembly, grease cap and decorative hub cap with it. The hub nut remained, but was basically fused to ... read more

blog 09-04-15 Rock Springs to Ft Collins 09-05-15 Ft Collins to Limon, CO I didn't stay in Rock Creek last night, it was Rock Springs. Too tired to even know where I am! Got up and moving and managed to be on the road by 8:15 and thankfully again the sun was up high enough it was not directly in my eyes. The temperature was warming up fast and the air smelled heavenly. I headed east on 80 and the terrain was still rolling hills, mostly grazing land and hay production. Just passed Rawlins I saw Medicine Bow Peak 12,013 ft , picture, that stood out especially with it's tree cover. I took a quick trip through Laramie just to see it then headed south on 287 to Ft Collins. The weather was getting cloudy and ... read more

...we woke ourselves up early to spend a few last hours on the single tracks/, pack up camp, and find our Durango sticker for the trailer! We set out on the road at about 12:30 and we're still plugging away! Durango is in the south western corner of Colorado and we are *almost* across the state. It's been a slow ride since unfortunately all the main highways are in the northern portion of the state- and we have a sick copilot who has needed many "business" breaks! It's like traveling with a kid- quick find a spot to pull over!!! We are about 20mins from hitting route 70 which should take us a little quicker across Kansas. jo is at the wheel and a little anxious to get off these back road highways and find us ... read more

Hello from Limon, CO. I covered many miles the past two days. After looking at the weather before I departed Branson, I decided to drive a little further Sunday and Monday so I wouldn’t have as many miles to go as I cross the Rockies on Tuesday. There’s been some rain with snow at the higher elevations of the mountains west of Denver today. I’m about 100 miles east of Denver. I hear some rain on the roof of the RV as a shower is passing over me right now. Looks like it will be no problems getting across the mountains tomorrow. Monday was VERY windy and was a tiring drive. The campground last night left a lot to be desired. Tonight I’m at a KOA. One of the nice things about stopping at a KOA; ... read more

5th Aug. Continued our journey across Colorado using Highway 50 and crossing the Rockies through Monarch Pass (el 11,300 feet). After the Rockies it was down onto the Plains and some very rolling country-side. Night stop Burlington, CO. and a quick ride on a 100 year old Carousel complete with musical organ. The operators gave us a glimpse of the workings and a low-down on the history of this sixth one built. Pam and George ... read more

. Today is the day! We are restarting our trip… destination San Diego. But first we have to actually start - we were a little delayed due to a midnight phone call from Maria’s brother. We needed to scan and e-mail some information to Australia… using a dial-up connection - hence the delay! But the sky is clear and the forecast says something about snow in Colorado, but even though we need to travel as fast as possible we are not sure we will get that far… Statistics Starting Destination: Saint George, Kansas Ending Destination: Limon, Colorado Ending Destination GPS: N: 39° 16.306’ W: 103° 42.582’ Elev: 5437’ Miles Driven: 445.4 Trivia King With many miles to drive and not very many days, we decided to take the quickest route towards our interim... read more
