Leaving Don and Betty's House
12 Aug. The final leg of our Road Trip, NJ to home in Framingham MA was uneventful except for an odd downpour on the Mass Pike. We left Piscataway bidding a fond farewell to our friends Don, Betty and family and set off for home. Our journey has taken us as far north as Edmonton, Alberta, as far northwest as Jasper, British Columbia, and as far southwest as Las Vegas and Arizona. 7th Aug. Today we left Concordia MO and continued east on I70 towards Illinois, on our way to see friends in Monticello. 5th Aug. Continued our journey across Colorado using Highway 50 and crossing the Rockies through Monarch Pass (el 11,300 feet). After the Rockies it was down onto the Plains and some very rolling country-side. Night stop Burlington, CO. and a quick ride on a 100 year old Carousel complete with musical organ. 3rd Aug - From Kanab we traveled north passing Zion and on to Red Canyon making a detour in and out of Bryce Canyon. Amazing scenery, truly. We then followed the scenic highway north-east along the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument and Dixie National Forest, finally emerging through Capitol Reef National Park. 4th Aug - Left Blanding this morning and headed south to Bluff and on to the Four Corners Monument (UT, AZ, CO, NM), then on to Montezuma and a detour into the Mesa Verda Nation Park to see Spruce Tree House (Ancient ruins of the Pueblo people). We then drove east to Darango and took the scenic San Juan Highway north to night stop in Montrose. 2nd Aug. Today we followed the south rim of the Grand Canyon through the National Park and then north back into Utah. We stopped to see the Dam at Glen Canyon and night stopped at Kanab.
