G'day We've done quite a lot since the last blog entry. On Tuesday, (yes I know we've told you about stuff since then) we visited a contact who was recommended to me in Melbourne. Brian Studwell is the USA representative for Henselite - lawn bowls manuafacturer. They are probably the top of the market worldwide, and make all their bowls in Melbourne. Just before he played in a social game. Geoff got and gave information about bowls in both countries. Yesterday (Thursday) we attended our second TV recording. Yes, we were at the actual recording of the Jimmy Kimmel's show followed by a very loud, short concert by ancient rocker Ziggy Pop. Yesterday we went, with Andy to a rehearsal of the Bill Maher show "Real Time With Bill Maher" Maher is an ireverant left ... read more

The end of our do-a-whole-lot-of-nada week is tomorrow morning, so we'll be heading toward Arizona next. While we were here we got to hang out with a lot of friends, sit around our campfire, barbeque a lot, and we even went up to Universal Studios. Echo had a day at the dog beach, and Rummy had fun trying to sit on top of any games we tried to play on the kitchen table. Overall, it was a nice week, but we're both ready for our vacation from our vacation to end. Hopefully now the weather will start to get better, and once we get back up into higher elevations in a week or two we'll have a much better time. Fingers crossed that we won't find any more snow, or threats of freezing pipes! ... read more

Aaaah, hello Friends! In the last couple weeks I have received a number of emails asking the same question . . . “WHERE are you?!” - one friend actually wrote my mom to try to get the scoop on my whereabouts (sorry Al). My apologizes to all - as suspected I’ve proven that I am not a “blogger” . . . but I am alive and happy with much to tell about my last 5 months on the road (has it really been that long?!). If you’ve been reading any of my entries you’re aware that I’m extremely thorough (aka long winded) so if you’re only interested to know where the heck I am now skip to ** before the last few paragraphs ;) That being said I must also acknowledge my gratitude for allowing ... read more

Comming to America.......well everybody had been talking about how strict it is when you enter the country, but it wasn't that bad. I guess compared to the other places we´ve been to it´s not so bad. In Singapore we were grilled far more thoroughly as well as in Australia. But in Fiji we hade to prove that we were actually gonna leave the US in the near future....so maybe that´s why they didnt care to much when we got to LA. But anyway..LA´s been funny. Haven´t seen mant silicon babes, but we didn´t go to the beach and that´s probably their main hangout ;) And not one celebrity has cought my eye:"where´s Lindsay and Paris. We went on this tourist bus and drove past celebrity houses. It felt really perverse, sort of like spying. Paparazzzi is ... read more

Today we took to the hills in the morning - Mt Lee specifically. Oh, yes you probably know that the famous Hollywood sign is on Mt Lee, but Andy tells us that you can't actually get near the sign. A bit of a drive onto the nearby lookouts or overlooks. The first one on Mulholland Drive gave a view out over Los Angeles. In the foreground was the open-air Hollywood Bowl but the distance view was quite disappointing due the thick smog - no wind. The second lookout looked back to the east into the San Fernando Valley. Andy informed us that this was the home of international porn production. He hasn't received any calls for extras roles in these yet. After lunch and a sleep (for Alain) we drove quite directly to the coast, ... read more

The Seattle to San Francisco train trip takes about 21 hours--along Pugent Sound and through some beautiful country in the Cascades. Our trip was a bit longer since the train was delayed by an hour or so and never managed to make up all the lost time. No problem for us. We got off the train and onto bikes as soon as we could and biked across the Golden Gate bridge to Sausalito for lunch. We worked up quite an appetite. After we returned by ferry we biked along the Embarcadero and then walked up Lombard St. Off tomorrow to Denver.... read more

FEBRUARY 2007 My dog Callie, a Shepherd/Lab/Cattle-dog mixture really loves our family ranch the very best. It is located in San Diego county, nearest the town of San Ysabel and Julian. Ever heard of Dudley’s bakery? They have the BEST bread ever. Anyway, my Sierra Club pals and I went to the ranch for a weekend of rest and relaxation. In between eating, taking pictures and hiking, we played Mexican train, an absorbing dominoes game that can take hours to finish. Callie likes the hikes the very best. She is a true Cattle dog. ... read more

Oceanside Well, we're back in Oceanside, where we lived before we moved all of our stuff up to Washington. We spent the day playing with Echo, running errands, and Danielle was reading. It's an official week of relaxation as we wait for warmer temperatures in Yosemite, the Sierras/Nevada, the Grand Canyon, The Utah Nat'l parks, and Colorado. The new plan is to spend a week here on the lake and ocean on Camp Pendleton, simply relaxing and not driving anywhere. Then we'll head east to Arizona and spend some time there, in Tucson and up to Flagstaff. Then we'll attack the Grand Canyon and all those other places as the weather becomes more camping-friendly. So, lazy days, not many pictures except those of us chilling out! Lots of love to everyone, hope you're all doing well! ... read more
