Well today was my last day in the US, me and erin headed to some sports outlets and i got a smaller fleece and gave her my original fleece and i bought some quick dry and sweat wicking tshirts for hiking as my cotton tshirts i have will be useless for hiking. So after the turmoil and lack of sleep over the weekend i had a great sleep in a really comfortable bed and a great sleep and i did not get up till 10.30 am and i had toast and yogurt and took my malaria tablets again and remembered my multi-vitamin and asthma steroid in-haler and i finished off the weekends blog. Erin was feeling a bit better than she did yesterday and we headed off into LA, first stop was Redondo beach which merges with manhattan and samosa beach. We then headed for Hollywood and passed hollywood and vine which use to be a famous prostitute hangout and we then headed up into the hills and the Hollywood sign and the houses on the way up were small and nothing to shout about but are not ... read more

Hi Everyone, So we made it to Eddie's parents house around 11pm. Our flight left on-time at 8:45pm and the flight was pretty uneventful. Sophia loved the window seat, loved take-off and landing. I think the most exciting part was when Sophia had to go to the bathroom. I didn't want to leave her in there, by herself so had the bright idea that we could both fit in, ha, what a comedy or errors that was. It cut about 10 minutes out of the flight though. Audrey did good accept the last 20 minutes or so. They put us on a tiny plane, so they made me check my carry on which held all the toys and snacks. We made due though with barf bags and straws. We leave tonight at 11:15pm for Thailand. The ... read more

Dearest Family and Friends, The time has come for me to embark on my greatest adventure yet. I know there has been a lot going on in the world recently and even in the places I am going to today, but rest assured I am not scared. At this point I am anxious and ready to get lost. I am excited about all that I am going to see and experience. I feel confident in myself that I tend to keep my head above water and am street smart. I know being in a completely new place (and many of them) can be daunting, but I am ready for the challenge. It is not like I am the first girl to travel around Europe alone... My amazing friend Kelly said to me after she traveled on ... read more

It's finally here! Okay, so I don't actually leave for my trip until tomorrow, but the taxi is coming at 4:30am (!) to take us to the airport and I will literally be a zombie at that hour so I'm posting my last U.S. post now while I'm still conscious. I am sooooooooooooo excited to see central Europe! Last I checked there were thunderstorms in Vienna so I am crossing my fingers for no rain when we get there (or at least no rain on the days when we'll be doing the most walking). I am 99% packed (with probably way more than I will ever need), so hopefully I haven't forgotten anything. Passport...check. ID... check. Camera and money... check. The rest I could probably get by without or buy there so I think I am ... read more

Okay, I think I finally have everything planned as far as can be planned until I've actually arrived at my destinations. I'd like to think there is at least a tiny bit of spontaneity in me so I don't want to go too overboard. Here is how my trip is laid out so far... Tuesday June 5th- Leave LAX at 7:00am, Austrian Air Flight 7998 W Arrive JFK at 3:04pm Leave JFK at 5:54pm, Austrian Air Flight 88 W Wednesday June 6th- Arrive Vienna, Austria at 8:40am Wander around city dazed and jet lagged Thursday June 7th- Sightseeing City Tour, Danube River cruise Friday June 8th- Ring Walking Tour (State Opera, Hofburg, Burgtheater, Sigmund Freud Museum, Parliament, Rathaus, Votivkirche, The Prater) Saturday June 9th- City Walking Tour ... read more

I'm kind of an anxious person to begin with. If there's something to worry about, I'll worry about it. If there's something to be overly eager and impatient about... you get my point. So with 17 days until I depart for Vienna, my nerves are working overtime in both directions. Have I planned enough? Have I planned too much? What if something goes wrong? What if, what if, what if?!? This is the first overseas trip I have taken in a LONG time. This trip is also kind-of the bridge between a certain past and an uncertain future. As a recent college graduate (after too many years of going to school), I honestly have no idea what the future holds, and that's scary. Beyond this trip, I have no definate plans, just an open road of ... read more

We arrived home today, after a relatively uneventful 12-hour plane ride. Friends are welcome to come and visit us, but please call us first to make sure that we will be home. We are going to be settling in over the next few days, doing loads of laundry, going through mail, shopping for food and getting used to driving around town with 2 kids. The past 18 days have been quite a long journey and we are so glad to be home.... read more

Finally, after two days of sorting and packing, we are ready to go. This has been the most difficult trip to pack for. Since we returned from China with Sophia, the only trips we've taken have been road trips. The kind where you can pack everything in the car and not worry about having the space for it. Our first stop in is Hong Kong. We get one full day there and two nights, before flying to Wuhan. So, we will have some time to visit with friends and to show Sophia some of the sights. She is so excited to see the tall buildings there. Anything above 2 stories tall in Torrance already makes her day. We can't wait to see the expression on her face. We hope to start posting more regularly once we ... read more

Anthony's last day at work was yesterday and we decided to take a break from our packing and from preschool by going to the San Diego Wild Animal Park. The weather was perfect and since it was a weekday, there were no crowds at the park. Sophia even told us that she liked it more than Disneyland. Go figure. We have been so preoccupied with getting ready, that we almost forgot that today is our 3rd anniversary with Sophia. Yes, the two girls' "Gotcha Day" will be exactly one week apart. Pretty amazing, isn't it? All the more so, since they are from the same province.... read more
