Hello friends and family, Khao Lak was amazing and wonderful and serene and everything we had hoped for. The computers were all broken, there was no phone in the room and no televisions, which turned out to be good because we really just relaxed, ate, slept, ate, played in the sand, ate, shopped, ate, shopped, ate, shopped and did I say eat. We fly into Khao Lak airport. There is this little taxi booth to the right of the entrance and taxi's all over the place. I remember someone saying to go to the taxi booth and we did. It was a 30-minute wait for a taxi which was a bummer so we walked for a second and ended up making a deal with another driver for 200 baht less then the little station. It took ... read more

Oh people, what a crazy day we had. It started off early in the AM. We headed for the floating markets, which were so fun and entertaining. We get on this little boat and float around for awhile. Every few minutes Tong hands us a different food to taste. Some of it was wonderful and are things we never would have attempted to try without her, well forcing us. :) Tong had the driver take us all around the back canals, which was so cool. Unlike the main market area where everything is packed, this was a quiet little detour that we all enjoyed. We really did enjoy every aspect of the floating markets and would recommend them to anyone. This was the one site that I really wanted to experiance and I am so glad ... read more

Hi Everyone, What an awesome and amazing day we had today. I think it was one of the best days I have ever had. We woke up this morning feeling pretty good. Tong picked us up at 10:30am to go to a Thai fishing village. I wasn't sure what to expect and honestly, wasn't that excited about going. Boy, was I so glad we did it. We drove about 30 minutes outside of Bangkok. We are finding that there isn't much to do in Bangkok accept shop, which isn't bad for me, but Eddie and the girls are getting kind of bored with it. Anyhoo, we drove to this quiet little fishing village. The banks were lined with these very modest little fisherman houses. We get loaded into the long tail boat and away we go. ... read more

Hey Everyone, Today was an interesting day. As I mentioned before we were all (accept Eddie, punk) up sick last night. By the time Tong (our tour guide) and I reached each other this morning, she was already in town, she lives about 1.5 hours out of town. I didn't feel like it would be good to take the girls out, so I decided to just keep them in. Tong ended up driving me over to a market to by some fresh fruits and veggies so I could make dinner tonight. When we got back, Eddie said that Audrey threw-up again, which made me really nervous. This is basically the third day she hasn't felt well, so we decided to take her to the hospital. No worries mom, she's fine!!!! We got there around 10am, met ... read more

Hi Everyone, I am going to keep this one short. Yesterday was a bit rough. Because Audrey was sick, we just stayed in our hotel room in Chiang Rai until about 1pm when we needed to leave for the airport. We got into Bangkok around 5:15pm and our hotel around 6:30pm. The taxi driver couldn't find our hotel, I sure know how to pick them, this seems to be a costant issue. I pick these out of the way hotels and nobody knows where they are. :) The hotel is really nice, older, but the rooms are huge and the views spectacular. We are a bit out of the city, itself so our view is of the city. I had the oppertunity to see the view a lot last night because I was up all night ... read more

Hey Everyone, I am going to keep this one short and can add more later. Audrey wasn’t feeling well yesterday and I want to be there when she wakes up. The day was going normally and then about 12 noon, she threw-up, got me good. We all ended up with new outfits, even Eddie who was sitting in the front seat! J We were so far away from our hotel that we just kept going and the rest of the day she just couldn’t keep anything down. She doesn’t have a temperature, so I think she must have had some water contaimination or bad food or something. She was still in good spirits, but as we got closer to Chiang Rai, we just cut our day short and hung out around here. It was good for ... read more

Hello Everyone, Well, it’s New Years Eve and we are here and doing well in Chiang Rai. The hotel is lovely and very well appointed. Chiang Rai is much smaller then Chiang Mai, it’s actually how I thought Chiang Mai would be. The people here are just a genuine and we really had a great time today. We started off around 9am and headed straight for a tea-plantation. It was this little set of buildings with hundreds of acres of tea plants rolling through the hills. It was beautiful. Eddie saw a fountain that he insisted I get a picture of. It was a woman with a bucket on top of her head with water shooting out of her nipples, MEN!!! J We spent some time there and had some dried fruit. The dried kiwi was ... read more

Hi Everyone, What a great day we had yesterday. A lot of it was spent in the car, but we had a lot of ground to cover in order to get from Chiang Mai to Doi Mae Salong. We started out around 9am, checked out of the Chiang Mai Residence, Sophia didn't want to leave. She loved it there. We immediately headed to a childrens orphanage. Gosh, I wanted to take them all home. The staff was really friendly and you could tell that the children are well cared for. It was so sad though. When we walked in the door the kids got so excited and immediately began running for us and jumping all over us. The boys headed straight for Eddie. At one point he had three 1-3 years olds in his arms saying, ... read more

Hey Everyone, Gosh, all this activity is catching up to us. We are all so tired... Today was another eventful day, although Sergeant Kai kept us busy, we didn't feel like we were running. The morning started off around 9am when Sergeant Kai picked us up at the Chaing Mann Residence. We started the morning off at this amazing temple, although the name escapes me at the moment. It was so beautiful and elborate like many of the temples but this one came to have two special qualities for us. First, upon arriving we took off our shoes and went inside where a monk was blessing couples that wanted to get married. It was very nice to be able to watch, the people are so friendly and open here. While providing the blessing, the monk began ... read more

Hi Everyone, Well today was all I expected and more. We were picked up at our hotel around 9am and taken about 1.5 hours out of town to the Elephant Nature Park. This is an elephant sanctuary for abused elephants that have been poorly treated in the logging or tourism industry, for the most part. These guys and gals have had such a rough time of things from tramatically having their eyes polked out to being beaten beyond belief, this place rescues these elephants and allows them to live out the rest of their lives in peace. We as tourists pay to go spend some up close time with these creatures in an enviornment that is unlike any other. Upon arriving, we were given some ground rules, mostly common sense things. We then spent some time ... read more
