On June 28, in the afternoon, we went to the zoo. It is a small zoo with limited animals, but we enjoyed it and would certainly go again. Being afternoon, we missed some of the animals (like the polar bear) who were sleeping. My favorite was the snow leopards, they cooperated so nicely for pictures! We also got to see a baby musk ox, but the pictures didn't turn out because they were in the shade. There was even a couple getting married outside at the zoo! We stopped to watch the bride getting walked down "the aisle"! ... read more

On Sunday, June 28, we went to Powerline Pass in the morning. We parked in the Flattop Mountain parking area and Deb, Mark, Mandy & Katie (the dogs), Leah and I all went for a walk. The weather was perfect! I guess this is a good place to spot moose, but we didn't see any. There were people hiking up many of the mountains. I guess hiking up Flattop is one of the most popular hikes in Anchorage. There were lots of pretty wildflowers along the way.... read more

It has come to an end and I must say that I have enjoyed and been awed by Alaska. The mountains and glaciers are spectacular and the wildlife and flowers are beautiful .I will send photos from home. Travelling in an RV was great. We took advantage of the ability to pull over for lunch or site-seeing or even sleeping whenever we chose. At one state park it was only us and the ranger! Travel is slow and often we were just tired,. In total we put on 1360 miles in 11 days. Not a LOT but as you all know I don't do road-travelling to willingly so it was enough . Tonight it will be one of those long days . Anchorage -Minneapolis-Regina in about 10 hours . The time change will be the killer. Look ... read more

Our first place to explore in Alaska was the Alaska Native Heritage Center. There was a loop trail around a pond where there were examples of different tribal homes. Inside of each was someone representing the people who would have lived there and explaining there lifestyle.... read more

We have spent the last several days with Noel and Sue at thier home in Anchorage. We have enjoyed taking the time to unwind from the road trip. After our fishing trip, we have decided to rearrange the trip. We are going to leave here and head towards Inuvik. That is at the end of the Dempster Highway, 500 miles of dirt road(1000 if you count round trip). We went Downtown the other day and visited the museam. Yesterday we drove out to the small town of Hope Alaska. It is across the bay from Anchorage. By the way, when you look at the Glacier pictures, it is not mounds of dirt. The ice flows down and pushes the rock and dirt ahead of it. As the glacier recides, the ice is covered in a thin ... read more

We get to move in to our apartment today! :) Finally! I can't say that I'll never go camping again, but it's definitely gonna be awhile lol. So, the apartment is really tiny and we had to pay a ridiculous amount of money to get it (bad credit), but at least we have a roof over our heads now. No more being homeless! Yay! The apartments have a fitness center that's right next to our building, a tanning bed, and a hot tub. They also have lots of grass for Griffin. Poor puppy got really sick yesterday. He went to the bathroom something like 18 times within the day. He ended up going in his kennel when we were in the chiropractor's office, which was awful. Since we were camping, I took him and the kennel ... read more

I am going to talk to the lady at the Alpine Apartments at 9. Hopefully we can move in tonight or tomorrow. REALLY hopefully lol. I love camping, but you can only handle so much of a good thing, ya know? We went to Petco and got Griffin a new harness and leash yesterday. This one was supposed to stop him from pulling when he walks. Lol, guess how that turned out? Yeah, not so much. That little fart has so much freaking energy. So, David is still waiting to hear back from the telecommunications company, GCI, up here. He would be doing what he was back home, and he would be making more money than he is right now. He's really starting to like the people he works with now, though. I'm glad. They have ... read more

June 12th We left Chicken after a hearty breakfast sandwich at the camp cafe. Only a few miles of dirt road remained to be negotiated until the pavement reappeared. The night before I had spent a considerable amount of time cleaning and adjusting the drive chain on my motorcycle. The succession of rain and dust and various other dirt had made quite a mess of it. Normally I have a gadget to make quick work of the task, but on a road trip like this, it is accomplished with a can of WD-40 and a rag. The first 80 km or so to Tok were under a bright sun and warm weather. Once we got closer to Tok, the sky started to cloud over and eventually opened up on us. The rain did not let up ... read more

So here I am stealing some more wifi lol. I found out that I didn't get the job at the mortgage company yesterday. Guess it's for the best, though. I don't think I really wanted to work at a mortgage company, I think I just wanted to work. Anyways, the girl from Adams & Associates, Carolynn, is amazing. She is doing everything she can to get me a job, even if it's not through the company. She actually called her mom and sister and even an old friend who works for the governer's office to see if she could find anything. I've been joking around with her and calling her my best friend every time she calls me. I'm seriously gonna get her flowers or take her out to dinner or something when I actually start ... read more
