Background: A land of vast distances and rich natural resources, Canada became a self-governing dominion in 1867 while retaining ties to the British crown. Economically and technologically the nation has developed in parallel with the US, its neighbor to the south across an unfortified border. Canada's paramount political problem is meeting public demands for quality improvements in health care and education services after a decade of budget cuts. The issue of reconciling Quebec's francophone heritage with the majority anglophone Canadian population has moved to the back burner in recent years; support for separatism abated after the Quebec government's referendum on independence failed to pass in October of 1995.

Ok ... I will confess ... I am both excited and scared concerning the trip I am about to embark on. I am excited to be travelling to Spain and Portugal, places I have never been. I am excited to be walking the Camino de Santiago through the beautiful countryside of Spain and experiencing the culture and attempting the little Spanish I learned the last few weeks. I am excited to meet new people from around the world and hear their stories and share in their pain and joy. And of course, I am very excited to see my friend Jorg [View Full Entry]

A summer of sober anticipation is coming to an end. I leave for China in less than three days. It is here in these pages that I will make an effort to keep all of my browser buddies whom are interested in my journeys informed. Having survived my anticipation, I will not speculate nor reveal the details of my near future plans aside from itineraries. I am the most excited, anxious, nervous and sleep deprived I have every been. Itinerary: Monday September 1st 2008 08:25 depart Detroit (DTW) flight AA851 08:35 arrive Chicago (ORD) 10:35 depart Chicago (ORD) flight AA289 [View Full Entry]

I know I mentioned this before, but the Penner's are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. That is who I stayed with the last 2 nights, and they referred me to the guy I am staying with tonight. The 3 kids were so much fun, and they had a cat too which as you know is high on my list! Yesterday we got some rain, and therefore I did not get out and do any riding. But I was fortunate enough to get a personal tour of Port Rowan. The kids and Dianna and I took the van [View Full Entry]

I forgot to mention the other night while we were cruising around on the boat, we found some stranded boaters. It wasn’t quite dark yet, but getting very close. Apparently their battery voltage was too low, maybe from running lights and other things too long without running the engine, and they needed a tow. The people that were on the boat with us knew who they were, and towed them across the lake back to their dock. Today was an interesting day, as far as my emotional status goes. I went for another ride with Don (Harley guy); he decided to [View Full Entry]

Frank earned his “Pro Status” some 5 years ago and represented Canada at the ISA Event in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 2005. Both will represent Canada at the 27th ISA in Coolangatta on Australia’s Gold Coast. One could say that the Reynens have a Love Affair with Shuffleboard. They met on the Courts in London, Ontario and were married two years later. Home at Last! North America » Canada » Ontario » London
Hey everyone! Just a quick entry to let everyone know that I'm back safely in Grand Bend. Wow, what a trip! My last day in Santiago on Monday was nothing special - just visited the cemetary. Seemed fitting to finish with Santiago's cemetary, since I started with Buenos Aires'. It wasn't quite as grand as Buenos Aires' was, but it was certainly worth the visit. The flight home, via Dallas, was long but fine. Dallas, by the way, has one of the better international terminals I've been in. Back home late yesterday, to snow and cold. But at least no wind! And this is it! The final blog for the World Tour - Northern Hemisphere, 2007! What an adventure. You've read some of the comments from some of the passengers. I believe I can honestly say that this trip changes lives! We have been on camels, elephants, planes, tuks, feluccas, dhows, dune buggies, water taxis, buses, (and more buses!), and horse-drawn carts. We have walked, climbed, sat, eaten, had a few drinks, danced, shopped, talked, visited, and danced some more. We have had long days and short days. We have had adventures in Nairobi and free time in Dubai. We have seen [View Full Entry]
