Visiting with Mom
Lor and I had a blast going through Mom's jewellery one afternoon (aren't you glad you didn't throw out all your gold Mom?!). Shane and I also got to spend some quality time with Mom in the basement packing. Love it! :o) This blog gets a special dedication to my mum (Anne), who graciously lent us her vehicle for while we’re around this neck of the woods. Without it a lot of what was done below would have been difficult, expensive or impossible. THANKS MUM!
In a few short weeks in Ontario we managed to rack up an impressive number of sleeps in different beds. There was the madhouse of Bill and Sue’s which consisted of us, Bill and Sue, Val and Gus (Sue’s sis and bro in law), Dakota the puppy and for the first three days Lori (Kim’s sis). Lori crashed on the floor beside us, which meant copious amounts of laughter before every bedtime. We also got to fit in some quality time with their Mom, who was visiting London Ontario from Antigua.
We had a great visit for a few days with my friends from high school (Jason and Erin) and all of their awesome pets. Two pugs and two kitties, all super friendly and cuddly. They treated us amazingly well and fed us fantastic meals with a plethora of drinks. I learned that Jason has an extensive alcohol collection in his poolroom; I also learned that
Dakota
We loved walking Dakota across the street every day...as it's as far as he can go in his old age. if you let him, Jason will pour you a little taster of everything in his bar. This lesson led to a very long walk up the two flights of stairs to our bed. Cheers to them.
We then had a great night with my family and got in a good visit.
Next we whipped over to Waterloo to visit with Kim’s other sisters and the B-I-L’s. This visit was a 3-fold adventure. One sister is pregnant and the host sister in Waterloo just moved into her house a week earlier. The final fun of the day was that between the two sisters they have 3 wiener dogs. It was a sunny wiener fest in their new backyard.
That night on our way back to London, we were chatting to my friends Tyler and Niki who were in Grand Bend at his grandparents’ cottage. The plan was for us to go home (Bill and Sue’s) and visit them the next day in the Bend. However, due to slight text message confusion, they ended up inviting up that night and because we are traveling with our life it was no problem and we went straight there. Spent an unexpected
Quick stop with the Munns in London
You will be sick of us soon enough!! :o) 3 days with them and saw the Canada Day fireworks from the beach. (also noteworthy: drank a lot, walked the beach and played lots of crokinole). It was there that we learned the value of “bookmarking” conversations (thanks Ty), when you just have so much to catch up on that three days is barely enough!
We then met up with Kim’s godfather in Sarnia and were able to chat and reminisce with him about Kim’s late father, which was great.
We had a breakfast date with our friend Scott in London just before we headed up to Oakville to stay with our friends Sonia, Kevin, and Owen (a.k.a Owie, their little one year old boy).
Coming up on the agenda is several weeks in Oakville with lots of swimming and a fun visit to Montreal, Quebec to see Kim’s aunts, cousins and Grandmother.
A whirlwind adventure so far in Ontario.
