Hi everyone! I am doing a test e-mail today to let you know that I am heading out on another world tour next weekend (Nov. 4th). I am updating the "subscribers list" because some of you, who followed along last year, may not be interested in doing so this year. If that is the case, please delete your name/e-mail from the Subscribers list. If you are interested in following, just leave things the way they are.......and stay tuned for another adventure!... read more

Yes, the day is almost here. Not a day too soon, either, considering the temperature outside is plummeting faster than Britney Spears' career (ZING!). Okay, that was pretty bad... Christina and I managed to navigate our way through the countryside of Southwestern Ontario yesterday, leading me to believe that we can find our way out of any situation (by the way, if you ever get a chance to visit Gobles, Ontario, you really should take the opportunity). Not sure when I will get to report on Fiji. I am assuming probably not till we hit Sydney. If you are like me and know absolutely nothing about Fiji, one I suggest you read Getting Stoned With the Savages by J. Maarten Troost (also the author of Sex Lives of Cannibals). He is a hysterical writer, specifically when ... read more

The biggest trip of our time in the US arrived on the 19th of July with us flying up to Canada to attend Chris & Jen’s wedding. As we are incorporating a two week driving holiday through Canada and the New England area, we are going to break this entry up into three parts; the wedding, the trip through Canada, and the New England (NE north of New York City) area of the United States. This was the trip that we had probably been the most organised - we had the flights and hire car booked in February which has been pretty unique since we have been in the States. Time flew past and before we knew it we were packing our bags (at the last minute of course). Unfortunately John and Judy’s visit overlapped with ... read more

Snowing, -7c What to write??? I'm confused. This is my first entry where I haven't travelled ANYWHERE (and this IS a travelblog, not a 'dear diary' entry!). I haven't even visited Toronto again or left London! Not because I'm not interested - I've just been so busy working, living and hanging out with fellow Londoners. People come & go from the hostel, snow storms come & go, the weather is getting a little warmer (it actually dipped above 0c yesterday) but I'm staying put.. for the meantime anyway. I'm looking forward to travelling again and starting the great 'homebound' adventure, but in saying that I'll miss London and all the people I've met here. It was weird 'settling in' somewhere for a while but the friends I met here made it very enjoyable. I know where ... read more

Visited US States Map Snowing, -26c (bloody cold!!) So…. I’m a travel writer! I never planned it that way and I’ve always had images of writers being obsessed Woody Allen type characters. You know- raving nerdy, loony and insane idiots. Is that what I’ve become?!?! A ‘major Australasian’ travel magazine (I’ll let u know if u ask!) took a liking to what I had to say about Vanuatu & New Caledonia. So now I’ve been asked to do 2 major feature articles on both - the first in the upcoming addition and the second in the winter addition. How did this happen!? I mean it’s bloody awesome, but I could never have planned such an ‘exotic’ overseas job title!!! Anyway, I’ll be busy re-reading and refining what I experienced in New Cal & Vanuatu. I can't ... read more

As many of you know, I’m now pinned to the highly dry, sometimes fascinating but mostly boring law textbooks designed to reprogram my way of thinking until I begin to live, breathe and act like a lawyer. Due to this indoctrination process, I am forced to take what mini-adventures come my way. This blog will start off with a recap of the highly exciting Law Games in London, Ontario and digress into random thoughts on living in Calgary. Everyone loves pictures, and well, I permanently misplaced my camera in London. Therefore, you’re treated to pictures from the Heart Mountain hike just outside of Canmore (Okay, see next blog entry above). London, Ontario. I don’t think I would go to this place for a random jaunt but it was a memorable city. I went as part of ... read more

The City of London is closed today! No transit, no schools.........no nothing! Apparently, this is a "first" in over 30 years.........lucky me! So, Kate, you were asking just how much snow did we get........ Ok, I know that not everyone is interested in this particular entry, but it was the easiest way to send these pictures for you (family and friends) to see. This is what I woke up to today! And just think.........a week ago I was in Iceland and the ground was clear! So, it's definitely time to find the box that has my winter boots in it (I just moved into this house before going on the world trip!). And I don't own a snow shovel either............I knew I was looking at buying a condo for a reason! Anyway, lucky me again, with ... read more

(I must be losing my "blogging" touch, because it appears as though this last part of the Blue Lagoon blog didn't get published on the web! Can't have that happen...........so here it is! And if it so happens that you did get this twice, .....oh well! I can use all the help I can get!) - I decided to add a picture from each country, to kind of give you a summary of where we've been and what we've seen. Enjoy! (Happy Pat, from home in London on Saturday morning) So, as I wish you all farewell and adieu........(and I'll miss you!).......I will add my commercial break here: Now that I am home, I'm "open for business".
