Once again our travelers, having created a new possibility, find themselves back in Jolly Ole' England. With an amazing change of direction, we arrive with joy in our hearts and family on the agenda; to be able to spend more time with Grandma Millard, Wendy Richards, Emma, Terry and family, as well as the lovely Kirsty Boys. From London to Ispswich we travel, to meet up with Justices amazing cousin Emma and her family for another week of catching up, visiting town, dancing at the local music festival, staying up late to watch movies after the kids settled down for the night, and to take turns cooking family din-dins. Emma is quite the cook! Especially when it comes to yorkshire puddings! It was so great to have an intimate week with the family having last ... read more

Quick update from Taunton as I've made it this far and having a break for lunch. Will add more details later. Weather holding out for me (just) at the moment and the going has got much flatter now I've entered Somerset. Beautiful ride alongside the canal today with lots of flowers and wildlife surrounding me. Stayed in a guest house last night with a bath and a hosepipe (for the bike, I'm not quite that dirty yet!) and a cat and a bar, what luxury! These B&Bs aren't half worth the extra couple of quid when you've been riding all day. Met a fantastic old guy in Tiverton who checked over my bike for me and reassured me it would get to John O'Groats no problems...whether I will too is another matter apparently!! If a customer ... read more

It's only 5 more days then I'll be sailing into the sunset! Well, sailing towards Newcastle at least, and then heading further north to the land of misty mountains & glens, woolly cows and men in kilts! I'm busy sorting out music, thought I'd have a little break & decided to try setting up a travelblog...hope it works! More later..... read more

On Easter Sunday (8th April) I cycled the Devon Coast-2-Coast route with my uncle. It was 102-miles of beaches, estuaries and lush green valleys that followed much of the west flank of Dartmoor. The route followed former railway lines, took us through tunnels and across breath-taking viaducts and bridges. It was a long day (setting off from Illfracombe at 8:15am and finishing in Plymouth just after 8pm) and very challenging but we made it with about 15 minutes of daylight left! As well as improving my fitness ten-fold with the training and burning off about 4 days worth of food in 12 hours, the ride also helped me raise about £500 so a big thank you to all those who sponsored or supported me in some way or another - especially to my Uncle John ... read more

Greetings. I know that you've missed us so we decided to fill you in on our trip to England last weekend. I realise that many of you with Scottish heritage are probably saying "why would you go to England....never mind for the weekend?" But it was in fact an important reason. My baby brother, Jamie was getting married. We flew into Heathrow at approximately Thursday lunchtime and after a quick shower in the Air Canada arrivals lounge we headed off down the M3. I did pretty well at remembering how to drive on the left hand side of the road. In the next 3 days only once did i drive on the wrong side of the road. Unfortunately I did it in front of my sister Shiona who honked her horn rather dramatically at me. Off ... read more

Good afternoon!! How is everyone back in the fabulous Melbourne? Well just another update on our UK adventures! Firstly, have been thinking a lot of my beautiful mum today, on today her very special day! HAPPY BIRTHDAY Mum! Very disappointed, her card which was sent with 10days to get there, did not arrive for her birthday. My apologies Mum and Dad again for waking you up! I hope you have a fantastic time in Rutherglen, sounds like a divine getaway, one that is very well deserved! You’ll be happy you got the 2 boys to keep each other company in Pentridge! J I posted in our previous blog that I had a day of temp work at last, well….. I hated it! I see myself as a hard worker and are more than happy to put ... read more

Well a good afternoon to you all! Hopefully this blog will not be as long as the last, as there hasn't been as much stuff going on. Following on from last week re: markets and selling my earrings, we are very happy to have checked out the Taunton market on sat. Well, well, well. It was more of a cattle market than anything.... so plenty of cows, which Charles insisted on talking about all the different cuts of meat about right in front of them! Another moment when I nearly became a vegetarian! To put it politely it was very small so I'm ecstatic I didn't pay all of that money to discover the size of it. I spoke to a gentleman whom we bought a doona, yes that's doona NOT duvee' cover from, he recommended ... read more

Before you start, I'll have to warn you, this is a long blog! Sorry! Well, since our last entry Charles has been busily working away. Found that the work ethic here is very different from Australia. Not directed at the nurses or doctors but at the other staff, that generally people are on the cusp of lazy! Maybe that’s why they love Aussies over here. Also, that due to the increased amount of doctors over here that the accountability wanders a little bit, and it’s difficult to ascertain exactly what your duties are. He was happy though, having gained some priceless vascular experience anastomosing a saphenous vein graft (large vein in your leg) to the femoral artery, which he hadn’t done before. Charles is also happy with the team he is working with and in particular ... read more
