Good times
Gants Hill, again, with Emma Once again our travelers, having created a new possibility, find themselves back in Jolly Ole' England. With an amazing change of direction, we arrive with joy in our hearts and family on the agenda; to be able to spend more time with Grandma Millard, Wendy Richards, Emma, Terry and family, as well as the lovely Kirsty Boys.
From London to Ispswich we travel, to meet up with Justices amazing cousin Emma and her family for another week of catching up, visiting town, dancing at the local music festival, staying up late to watch movies after the kids settled down for the night, and to take turns cooking family din-dins. Emma is quite the cook! Especially when it comes to yorkshire puddings! It was so great to have an intimate week with the family having last seen them at the wedding in Mexico in a much less personal setting. Now if we can only get them to move closer to Washington that would be fabulous?!
After a glorious week, Emma once again drove us an hour an a half to Gants Hill so we could take the tube to Paddington station to then take a train southwest to Taunton
to see Wendy and Grandma. What a saint she is!
We arrived in Taunton in the afternoon, where Wendy met us at the station to take us to our rental car she had kindly researched. For the next two weeks we would stay with her, and come and go as we pleased. Wendy, a childhood friend of Justice's moms, who was also just at the wedding in Mexico has a heart of gold to compliment her tough attitude. She made visiting Grandma possible by sharing her home with us.
I think it's safe to say that at this point the dynamic duo was starting to feel the most slight sense of home-sickness after visiting so many friends and family at home and in San Pancho, continuous travel was beginning to feel lonesome. So off to Grandmas house they fled. One look at the auspicious woman filled our senses with emotion. She looked like ten years had fallen off her since our visit at Christmas. " My family," she cried, "and my new son". Few words could describe the love that emanated from the small Taunton flat that evening until of course it was time to go to Bingo.
Playing Bingo is a favorite seven day a week activity for Grandma that we also indulged in much of the time. In addition to Bingo, we took Grandma on many day excursions in our trusty rental car including: Dartmouth, Exmoor, Lynton and Lynmouth, Sidmouth and Lyme Regis. We simply had a wonderful time spoiling each other. As well as time with Grandma, we also made visits to other family friends. Including a visit to the Posh Pig Farm with Wendy to see Hillary, John and family and of course the pigs. There, we had great fun and excitement chasing/catching chickens and safely depositing them back into the roost for the evening. Another night, we enjoyed a delicious meal cooked by Sharon and Johnny at their beautiful home in the Blackdown Hills.
For two nights and three days we met up with the magnificent Kirsty Boys in Biddeford and her swanky camper van Blue Belle for soggy camping in Cornwall. The weather pissed down relentlessly but still it was no competition for our sunny spirits. We lived it up in the camper van, ate drank and were merry despite the rain. We had such a good time with Kirsty and
Noah's baby blues.
Whatch out ladies... her lovely boyfriend Jim that they will be coming to stay with Justice's Mom and Dad, shortly after we return in January!! Woo-Hoo, do we hear shredding slopes?
As it often does, when having fun, time passed all to quickly in England. So when Emma called to ask if we'd be open to going back to Ipswich for a few days we happily said "of course". This planning in the moment was getting better by the moment!
We said our teary goodbyes to Wendy and Grandma and Headed to London with Kirsty and Blue Belle.
For the next two days we stayed at Kirsty's moms, close to London. From here, we ventured out to meet some of Kirsty's magnificent friends as well as had a day to explore downtown before heading back to Ipswich.
The evening we met up with Emma, there was a horrific thunder and lightning storm, we're lucky we didn't crap our pants driving back that night as the strikes came so sudden and close!! A few days turned into another week in Ipswich, who could blame us these guys are just too much fun. One day during the weekend we headed out to
Justice and Grandma
A day trip through Exmoor to Lynton and Lynmouth. Visit Grandma Joan together. Her generous friends, she was staying with, invited the whole lot of us over for a roast. Yet another tasty meal. It was marvelous to see her, if even for one day. Back in Ipswich we passed the days playing the two pence machines at the seaside, engorging on fish and chips, laughing till our bellies ached and finally saying our last goodbyes at the Gants Hill station, yet again......
We were off now to take the train then the Ferry from Portsmouth to Cherbourg France..
Stay tuned faithful readers to learn how the dynamic duo travel around the backroads of France... Do they go by train, bike, car, foot or all of the above?...........
Remember, same travel time, same travel blog.....We love you all.....
