Well the time has come for our much anticipated departure. Now that this time is upon us we both share mixed feelings, we are ecstatic to be coming ‘home,’ however are sad to be ending our fabulous adventure. We had our last social visit into London over the weekend, catching up with some friends over drinks, tapas and a boogie at Fabric. Was a strange feeling to now that we would not return to Fabric for some time, maybe even ever. However, exhilarating to know the next place we stop will be to see you all! Michael was very hospitable, providing a bed to sleep in and some shelter for the evening. Earlier in the day we enjoyed a visit to Victoria and Albert Hall, we were both amazed how large it was. My highlight was ... read more

Just a quick blog, basically to show some happy snaps! The weekend before last we had a daytrip to Oxford. Oxford is a fantastic uni town, for those unfamiliar with Oxford it is not multiple campuses as such; it is multiple buildings all separated according to faculty. For example, physics in one building, another is mathematics, etc; etc. A pretty place, one of our friends Wes has won a scholarship to study at Oxford university this year, am sure he'll love it here!... read more

Prague (or Praha as the locals call it) is indeed a beautiful city. Everyone says it is, and everyone is right. I just feel sorry for the poor schmoe who had to individually lay every one of those 10 million or so 3 x 3 cm cobblestones that line mostly all of the city. We had a few spare minutes and worked out that unless you live to about 115 years old, you don’t live 1 million hours in a lifetime, so either it was more than one guy, or otherwise he was really busy, and lived to an old age. OK, enough about the cobblestones. There is also a castle and a bridge (named The Charles Bridge actually), and its very easy to spend a few days just roaming around. The architecture really is quite ... read more

Chim Chimeny Chim Chim Che Roo! Last Wednesday I had the pleasure of travelling into London to meet Prof. Caralyn Barton, Lucy-Lou and Lisa B. Now, the professor is living in South Kensington/Chelsea, London. On my way out of the station I passed the Lamborghini shop, multiple porches, BMW’s Merks, etc; you know what I’m thinking! Also lots of very nicely dressed people, yes, this area is very classy! The buildings are mostly of Edwardian design, with bold white large columns making a grand entrance. The Prof states she frequently sees Hugh Grant on the streets! Was delightful to see the girls and reminise about old 2F times, was awesome to be able to pickup the pieces like we’d all seen each other the day earlier. After some wine, a table of Thai fish cakes for ... read more

Top of the morning to ya' all! Greetings from Scotland! The land of teacakes, Iron Brew, the Highlands and awesome accents! I travelled up to Glasgow, Scotland a day later than planned on the 3rd of January to see the delightful Juz and Knighsty and to get a sniff of what Scotland has to offer. On my first day I was greeted at the airport (thanks guys!) and taken to Juz and Knighsty lovely home. We ventured into the Glasgow towncentre, visiting the Glasgow Cathedral. The exact age of this cathedral is unknown, but it is I believe the only cathedral in the world to have another full church built underneath it. Seemingly the norm is to have a tomb or crypt or two, but to have a full adjoining church is rather unusual! The cathedral ... read more

Welcome 07! Well to anyone we have missed and for those we have not, we will wish you a very Happy New Years again!! Many of you would know we decided to see the new year in with style, heading into London to see the Chemical Bros. Our night began by meeting a friend of Justin’s whom we’d met a few times in Melbs at Paddington station. From here our adventures over London began! We jumped on a train where we were picked up by 2 of Michael's friends. Drove to Tanya’s house, dropped off the car, back on the train. We arrived to another persons house and were happily greeted by a somewhat familiar face, and lots of nibblies!! Turned out to be at least 11 of us, all Australian!! Funnily enough. The familiar ... read more

Festive Felicitations!! I believe it was a white Xmas in some areas of Victoria! What the?!! Come to the other side of the world, for it to snow in Victoria?! Strange!! I hope you all had a magical Christmas, we had a lovely day. Our Christmas lunch turned out an absolute treat, at last a meal I'd made that I could not fault! The turkey, cauliflower grattan, buttered basil and fetta beans, pumpkin and sweet potato soup and mulled wine, etc; was delish!! We didn't finish our lovely pudding til 6pm! Thank you to our parents for all of the beautiful Christmas treats under the tree, we were absolutely spoilt and will come back as 2 fat little piggies at this rate!!! 2 weeks ago we headed to Exeter. Specifically, to a carboot sale. Most of ... read more

Barcelona was fantastic. Just a tip when flying the ‘low cost’ airline - ryanair to start with though. Firstly, no one seriously believes you when you advertise flights for 1 euro. We all know there is a catch. The catch is actually multiple. Catch 1 = plus taxes. That brings us up to 30 euro immediately. Yeah right, how come the taxes when you fly with easyjet are only about 10 euro. Anyway, moving on to catch 2, would you like to take a bag with you? Pardon? A bag? Well yes as a matter of fact, that doesn’t sound like such a bad idea to actually take some clothes with me for a 2 week trip overseas. Ok, so 40 euro is our ‘low cost price’? Well yeah, but you’re going to Barcelona right? Well, ... read more

Milan, or Milano…. Sounds good, ce? Well, no, not so good… With some interesting comments before we left, we greeted Milan with fresh eyes and excited hearts. Our bus ride from the airport took us through the city to the main train station, we got the metro to the closest station to our hotel. We thought… or maybe optimistically hoped the area may have changed when we got out of the metro but it had not. It was the same everywhere.... Smoggy, dirty, rubbish everywhere, and people who all thought they were engaging in a starring contest with you! Any Italians out there (Yes Fi!) or people who love Italy, I do too just not this part. After visiting Rome, Venice, Florence, Tuscany and now Milan I can vouch for this. I guess it was a ... read more
