Geo: 51.3347, 1.41787Dad and Mom Blair came for a visit. The first couple days we stayed in Ramsgate. We took some walks into town and around the area. On Thursday we took the train into London. We decided the open top, double decker bus was necessary so they could get an overview of the city. We used the underground a lot to get around the city as well. We made sure they saw the highlights of London including Westminster, St. Paul's Cathedral, Tower Bridge, Piccadilly Circus, Harrod's and the British Museum. At the British Museum we tracked down the crystal skull. Steve has wanted to see this skull for a long time. We tried to see the changing of the guard but the crowds were obstructing our view. Oh well, we tried.Once back in Ramsgate we ... read more

Geo: 51.3347, 1.41787Hello Just a posting of happenings around town. July 19 2008 - The Kent Beer Fest. This was a great way to spend my birthday. Kim and I went to the Kent Beer Festival in Canterbury. It was held in a huge barn out in the country. There were lots of different beers there from different breweries but almost half of them had run out because this was the last day of the festival. Beth and here boyfriend Adam had been there the night before and drank most of the beer. We still got to try lots of good beers, packed a tasty picnic lunch to take with us, enjoyed the sounds of a U2 cover band, great weather and meet some new friends. It was a good day all around. Geo: 51.3347, 1.41787 It is the anniversary of America's independence from the British so of course we had to celebrate. Kim put up the American flag; we invited some of the other expats, and fired up the BBQ. Jessica and D'Andre who both work with Kim at Pfizer and are from Michigan joined us in the celebration. Beth was feeling under the weather but her British boyfriend also joined the party. Kim was able to find a local fireworks company that delivered fireworks to the house so it was a true 4th. The BBQ was packed with burgers, dogs, shish kabob and we had baked beans, Cole slaw, potato salad and apple pie. It was a beautiful day and the cold beer tasted great. After our small firework display we ended the evening with the true ... read more

Geo: 51.3347, 1.41787 After My Dads (Frank) Graduation from California State Long Beach with his second bachelor's degree, he and his wife Donna made the incredibly long flight from California to England. The first three days of their visit were gray and rainy. Go figure, perfect weather for growing potatoes, mud mud mud mud. Well why should they be spared the real English weather. Just then the sky's opened and the remainder of there visit was great weather. How they got so lucky I don't know. I think they brought the weather with them from Southern California. Why the weather was lousy, we took the opportunity to visit the Spitfire Museum in Ramsgate. Lily just loved having Dad and Donna around. They took her on lots of long walks. An afternoon visit into Canterbury and Whistable ... read more

Geo: 51.3287, 1.41078We got to see the blue bells! You cannot imagine how amazing it was. So pretty. We went back to Kings Wood for one last shot. Our timing was perfect. The weather here has been pristine. Sunny skies and warm. It has lasted more than a week, this is heaven. Steve takes Lily to the beach and the park everyday. We think she prefers the beach. Who would have thought our Lily would become a beach bum! I have been working a lot in the garden. Planting flowers in pots and trying to get the garden under control. The down side to not having a hard winter is the plants take over! The ivy is engulfing a small tree, small plants in the border need dividing, the hydrangeas are massive and the compost piles ... read more

Geo: 51.3287, 1.41078I can´t believe it´s been so long. I am a true slacker. Sorry about that. I guess weekly updates were a bit idealistic. Things have been going well here. We are getting used to our surroundings and can now drive several places without the use of the TomTom. Work is good. I have been moved to a new area.... Yep, already. I am now reporting to a new person and doing a slightly different job. All is good though. Steve and I were recently back in the States for a visit. It was great to see family and friends. We also got to bring our doggy back to the UK. It is so great having her here. We try to go out and explore the area every weekend. We kind of pick a place ... read more
