Hi Travel followers/lovers. This is our latest blog to bring us up to date on where we are and what we have done/experienced over the first week. After a couple of days exploring London we headed back to Gatwick via the express train to pick up our little hire car and then on towards Portsmouth for a nights stay in a great little B&B booked via Airbnb. From Portsmouth we travelled on to our first house sit at Martinstown near Dorchester in the south of England. What a beautiful little country town it is and we are so pleased with our choice. In this area, if the building is not 500 or more years old it is "new". Attached are a couple of shots from Dorchester. The church is over 1000 years old. Today we began ... read more

Spent a delightful week in Dorset with Lynne and her sister, Jayne. We stayed in a olde worlde thatch cottage on the Athelhampton House Estate, not far from Dorchester. Being so near the coast I did a couple of days walking two stretches of the South West Coast Path. The first stretch was from West Bay to Charmouth which entailed a hike up two very steep cliffs; the first Thorncombe Beacon and then after recovering from that a steep hike up Golden Cap, the highest point on the South Coast at 626 feet. As you will see from the photographs the views were spectactular from both especially on such a sunny day The weather on the second day of walking was pretty miserable and the walk from West Bay to Abbotsbury was a bit tedious during ... read more

This month's trip was for Dorchester, the county town of Dorset in south-west England. In a English context, Dorchester is not a big town with its ca 16.000 inhabitants. However, Dorchester has a fantastic mix of old monuments going back several thousands of years such as Maiden Castle, Maumbury Rings and and Roman Town House so the past is very present. Author of the "slightly" bleak novel, Tess of the d'Urbervilles, Thomas Hardy was born in 1840 in a village nearby Dorchester.... read more

The weeks that have passed since the beginning of the summer holidays have been brilliant! In the first week i had a camp over, it was one of the best parts of my holiday so far! Another addition to our brilliant holiday was when we went up North to Burnley to see Daddy's family. We spent most of the time there on the street playing tag and things like that with our cousins. After Burnley we went to the Lake District. It was so lovely I nearly fainted again! When we got back we met up with some of our friends who we will miss a lot when we go to Kenya! In case any of you are wondering why we haven't sent out the invitations for our camp over we mentioned in our first blog, ... read more

Back to the French Alps & Birthday Weekend in Eype 14th-27th April, 2008 La Tania I had an awesome week with Bern and Elizabeth back in the French Alps. They had gone back to work a second season and it was the last week of the season. It absolutely dumped down with snow on the Monday when I was travelling there which made skiing in the powder the next day fantastic. I couldn't believe how much snow there was for the end of the season. This time last year there was lots of green and wildflowers starting to bloom. We skiied across to Val Thorens one day and had a brilliant time on Europes longest toboggan run which is 6km in length. Lots of laughing and spectacular crashes on the way down. Housegirlfriend When I arrived ... read more

On Stella's Birthday (1 April) in the afternoon we arrived in Dorchester to meet up with Jeff who had booked us all to have a go at Zorbing! Having been asked to do this some months ago, now I'm not so sure. All of us (I think) were a little bit dubious when we arrived and watching the zorbs rolling down the hill did not fill us with much hope of improving our worries! After booking in and speaking to the very nice ladies at the reception desk to updated us on details about the zorbs, harnesses, aqua zorbs together with what to wear, I felt a little more reassured. Jeff had booked four single zorbs and two double zorbs. Stella and Wayne had previously decided to going together but now were going to do the ... read more

We looked at the giant hamster balls at the top of the hill with trepidation. Wayne looked distinctly unimpressed and repeatedly stated he would not fit into the zorb through the tiny hole! We checked in and decided to Hydro Zorb (with water) rather than be strapped in. Wayne felt we would bounce too much if strapped in which would be dangerous. He was informed that yes he could zorb and would fit into the hole, so we got our change of clothes and headed to the start point. Jeff and Jan double zorbed (strapped in) to the bottom of the hill, bouncing all the way down. At th... read more
