Monday 27th July - Back to Spain, San Sebastian This was more like it - the hotel in San Sebastian that is. I am sat up writing this in a bed so large there is a walkie talkie on each side for contacting your bedfellow - should you be so lucky enough to have one that is. The Spanish tourist offices had come up trumps, both here and in Barcelona, so on that basis I could only but recommend them. I had struggled to find anything decent for under 200 sovs searching the internet with a budget that was half that and the Astoria7 was just the job. Anyway I had awoken in Foix to a dull overcast day, my first since leaving Salon la Tour, which always looked like threatening rain. Actually no I was ... read more

And To Think I Wasn’t Going To Come Here!! Leaving Bordeaux and France behind, I didn’t want to spend 13 hours straight on a train to Madrid, even though it seems strange to say that after doing the Trans-Siberian. The decision came when I recognised the name of a little town on the North coast of Spain, San Sebastian. Not knowing a lot about the place, I had only booked in for two nights before having to move on to the capital, but on arrival I wish I had booked for longer. With pristine beaches (both inside the bay for swimming and facing the ocean for surfing), an old town centre, a hill overlooking the whole lot with a statue of Christ at the summit (and everyone knows what I’m like when I see a hill ... read more

We arrived in San Sebastian on Monday the 6th July to some dreary wet weather..... most unexpected on our Summer European Trip. After attacking the mountainous road that lead to our campsite, we set up and chilled out for the afternoon, eagerly awaiting Scott and Emma’s arrival from Belgium that night. We waited and waited and waited until eventually falling asleep. Scott and Emma turned up at around 1am after a nightmare 12 hour drive. Scotty had also been the victim of an unfortunate mud slide knee to the left eye incident only the day before at the Rock Werchter festival they were attending. Making the 12hr slog that more difficult with clear vision from only one eye. But nonetheless they arrived safe and sound, and after exchanging a few stories we all hit the sack ... read more

Yo! Amigos One of the great things about this adventure is it's flexability. Although never in the original plan we have somehow ended up writing this to you from Portugal! More details on our random Porto excursion next blog. Last time we updated you we had crossed borders into Espagne and reached the seaside city of San Sebastian. There are so many superlatives to describe this place and we'll just give you some of the highlights broken down in the note format: The Hostel Ocean view was the name of our hostel and it really did what it said on the tin! Amazing views over Zurriola; the surf beach, and the balcony was the perfect place to catch the sunset. Walking into the hostel was like setting foot on the set of Point Break! Run by ... read more

Now this is a town I could easily spend some more time in one day. I recently just had a great stay in San Sebastian and loved every minute of it. This is a cool little holiday spot I can highly recommend to everyone. As you can see by the pictures it also has the most amazing views. Also I didn’t make up the most beautiful view in the world thing’.. there’s actually a plaque at the top of the lookout saying that.. The day I went up to the lookout I literally just sat there by myself for about 3 hours just staring out at the bay. With the crystal blue water, cool sea breeze and perfect bay it was so nice I didn’t want to leave. San Sebastian is located in the very far ... read more

Hola! Things have finally slowed down enough to add a new blog. I've been in Spain now for three days or tres dias and it feels like a week. This is an easy sensation when you pack a lot into one day. Let me catch you all up: My flights were very smooth. I took a plane to Atlanta to connect to my flight from the Atlanta airport heading to Madrid. By the time I found the gate and terminal, passengers were already boarding! I was thankful that I headed straight there instead of grabbing a quick bite (some dinner) like I was planning as I had about an hour before the flight but because the flight was so large (this was a 727 plane which can seat over 300 hundred passengers I think) they board ... read more

Welcome again, as we join you from the blistering hot streets of Rome. We apologize that it has been so long since our last entry, however, we have been struck by some unforseen computer problems, yet again. So, we will continue where we left off... arriving in Seville, Spain. We arrived sometime in the afternoon and, as always, made our way to the hostel first thing. We were pleasantly surprised at the area our hostel was in and by the hostel itself. The neighborhood was a maze of winding, narrow streets with small shops and cafés on either side of you. Lyndsay was especially excited because we were in more of a shopper-friendly district than ever before. The hostel was great, as it was more like a hotel, despite its rickity beds and TINY rooms. It ... read more

Sunny San Sebastian ... well that’s what the photos suggest. We’ve made it to Basque Country and San Sebastian is a draw card for the beach and surf orientated people. As with the other cities we’ve ventured to we seem to attract clouds and colder weather but despite that San Sebastian is a delightful town that is easy to get around and still has a lot to offer tourists. As with Madrid there are lots of Plazas and areas for the community to congregate and enjoy life and socialise. Our hostel is on the other side of a canal that runs through the city and guess what; you’d be hard pressed to find any litter on the roads or the waterways around here. The more we travel and experience Spain the more you notice the lack ... read more

Vi holder ... read more
