Got a suitcase-boooooyaaaaah!!! That is like the highlight of my trip so far haha now I just need one more... I've been really super-wow homesick lately, but today is a good day, and I think that it's up from here =) Classes were pretty good, my classes are really small. The first day was so exhausting-just class in Spanish all day then come home with Spanish with my host family, phew! But I have one about the Spanish Civil War which is in English that I think I'm really going to like. I want to try an art history class as well, but I just realized today that that'd put me at 20 credits, so... haha we'll see. I went shopping yesterday! Finally. Spent my 50 euros worth that British Airways owes me at a store called ... read more

Okay, I am finally going to actually update this thing haha. I am in San Sebastian finally and met my host family yesterday afternoon. They live in a newer part of the town right by the university. Pretty much all of my friends live on the opposite side of the city, but it's a 40-50 min walk from one side to the other which really isn't bad. I walk EVERYWHERE. The city is so beautiful, and much different from what I expected. There are shops everywhere, like more stores throughout the city than there could ever be people. My family consists of a married couple and 2 daughters. One is my age and in France studying ballet, the other goes to school in Berlin and is 22. She and her boyfriend were here last night and ... read more

Last night we all went out as a group for our final weekend in San Sebastian. We went to the sidreria Petritegi. A sidreria is a type of restaurant famous in Spain where there are huge barrels of sidra (cider) and you eat and then fill your glasses of sidra straight from the tap on the barrel. The food and sidra are unlimited. For a certain fee, you get as much food and sidra as you want. A person just opens the tap and the sidra starts squirting out onto the floor and then people line up and fill their glass with a shot of sidra and gulp it down. However there is a very specific way to filling your cup with sidra. You want to let the stream hit the side of your cup because ... read more

Kayla, Danielle, and I watched PS I Love You for the first time tonight and i think that we cried from the very beginning of the movie to the very end. It was so sad! Haha, although i know all of you boys out there totally dont understand it, it was a great girls bonding night for us. We ended up staying up late and just talking about our lives and our secrets and such. It was fun and the crying was cleansing lol. We decided on this particular movie because of my trip to Ireland that is coming up this weekend! I cannot wait!!!!!! I hope it will be as amazing as i am wanting it to be :) We also made pesto pasta for dinner which was delicious and we had Kalimotxos while we ... read more

This time of year is always hard when you dont get to spend it with your family. At least for me it is because i am very close with my family. I have had a really hard week and i have been missing home like crazy. On wednesday I got to be skyped in to Brandon's family Thanksgiving and see his family which was really nice. I really miss getting to see little miss olivia (his 1 year old neice) and i finally got to see Eli for the first time! He is sooooo cute, but huge for his age. He was born on Sept. 1st the day i left to come over here and i was so upset that i didnt get to see him before i left. But it was so exciting to get ... read more

Tonight was a really nice night. Kayla and I ended up meeting up with Iker and he took us to this really cool bar that had pool and darts in the basement. We started off with darts, which is a really popular game in Spain. All of the younger college age people play it at the bars and stuff. I had never before played darts so Iker explained the rules and such of the game and we played 3 games. Iker was really good at darts and kicked our butt in all of them except i also found out that i am pretty good at darts as well and i almost beat Iker! I was so excited because i went out first, but it ended up that he won anyway because i had more points than ... read more

So our friend Steven's roommate Jon (pronounce Yon) is spanish/basque and he is very cute. In fact, all of the girls in our program think he is cute. But he is hardly ever around because he is from Bilbao and he just goes to school in San Sebastian and on a lot of the weekends he goes home to Bilbao to be with his family because his dad is sick with cancer. Well one night we were all out hanging out and Steven made a promise to Kayla, Danielle, and me that Jon would cook us dinner in his chonies (boxers). It was a joke, but last night Jon did have us over for dinner. Although he was not wearing just his chonies... ;) But he made us a spanish dinner that was absolutely amazing! He ... read more

Normally weeknights here are pretty slow since we all have school and homework to do. However, last night Danielle, Kayla, and me went out to get some pintxos and to just get a drink and to relax and talk after a stressful day. But that quickly turned into a pretty crazy night. We ended up at Tas Tas and well lets just say that we drank a lot and didnt pay for a single thing. The bar tenders gave us shots and sangrias, pretty much anything that we ordered and they never made us pay. It was awesome, although, the next morning was not so awesome. But it was still a really fun night out with the girls. Then today we made a nice dinner and invited Oier and Iker over for dinner. We made roasted ... read more

This weekend has been absolutely crazy. Luckily i was feeling better after going to the doctor on tuesday getting the medication because i dont think i would have survived this weekend without it. Friday night Kayla, Danielle, and me met up with Oier, Iker, and some of their friends. We hung out at Molly Malones, which is a local favorite bar in San Sebastian, for most of the night and then around two in the morning when Bataplan opened we headed over to Bataplan to dance. Iker got us in for free because his dad knows the owner or something like that and we also got a free drink as well, which is a good thing because the drinks in Bataplan were 10 euro apiece. It was kind of ridiculous. We had a lot of fun ... read more

Last night we thought we had two options set up to watch the big game between New Zealand and Bahrain, the winner of which would be going to the World Football Cup in South Africa next year.So when we awoke the first instinct was to try them both again and see what sort of online streaming of the TV we might be able to get. The first we tried wasn’t any good but the second had sound and a picture that came and went making it rather difficult to see the game. We noticed in the corner of the screen on the laptop that the TV link to the game was coming via EuroSports which we suddenly remembered was a channel available on the TV in our room. We didn’t need the laptop with the unstable reception ... read more
