I've spent this summer going all around Majorca on a motorbike. I stayed in Palma and then visited cities like Portocristo, Alcúdia, Inca, Manacor, Valldemóssa, Sóller, Sant Elm, Sa Dragonera, Andratx, etc. I also went to visit "Les coves del Drach" and sunbathe in many beaches as "Cala Mondragó" or "Cala Varques".... read more

Offsite in Spain - Some of the advantages of being in Europe. It was a really nice surprise when I heard that our team is going for a offsite to island of Mallorca in Spain! We were to stay there for 2 nights. It was suppose to be a short chilled relaxing vacation, something I have probably never taken. The highlight was definitely food. We had 2 dinners at fancy places, 3 - 4 course and a different wine with each course. 3rd day we had relaxed lunch at a small local place and that was definitely the best food. Day 1: It was mostly fly, drive down to hotel, get settled, see hotel's private beach and then off for a fancy dinner. European style, there was wine with every course and there were like 3 ... read more

On Sunday we left Benicarlo Spain for Palma Spain on the Balearic Island of Majorca. We just spent our last 2 days relaxing at the Marriott Golf Resort (no I didn't get a chance to golf) and we start our journey back to US tomorrow. This is a great resort and we spent most of our time at the pool or health club. This evening we eat a barbeque with a live band. Great last evening... We will be stopping in New York tomorrow for a couple of nights to visit Tiffany's college, "New York Conservatory of the Dramatic Arts"... Mark K... read more

Well, I guess you might find this blog boring, nothing goes wrong, the weather is nice and we don't climb why mountains. We woke up this morning a little early to assess the bike situation, much to our delight Malcom came through and gave us bikes with much better tires I couldn't have been more please. His only miss was leaving the brake quick release lever (pronounce leeever- malcom is British) on all four wheels. I quickly place them in the down position and do a quick fail safe we are off. I suggest heading back to Pollenca without a sidetrack to the mountains. Our intent is to do a mountain climb that is on a peninsula near port Pollenca. The weather is warm and feeling great, so I decide to be a lovely wife and ... read more

Just thought I would upload some photos. Weather finally came right today, hooray! Biked into Puerto Pollensa, a neighbouring town, and hunted out a few geocaches. We got abused by a peloton of scottish cyclists for being on the wrong side of the road. In our defence, it was confusing because we had just come off a dual-way cycle lane and nothing told us to revert back to the other side of the road. Oh well, it was quite amusing hearing thirty scots in lycra swearing at us while the zoomed past. We also found an awesome roman archaeological site to explore in Alcudia. Sitting in the sun on our balcony enjoying un cerveza at the moment. Enjoy the photos, a plethora more to come!! ... read more

Well after a stern talking to from pro cycle hire about how we should have rented our bikes five months ago online and letting me know that while Malcom (bike guy from our hotel) is a stand up guy he is not a bike shop, they agreed to fix the spike and true the wheel. Apparently it's good business to reprimand and state the obvious to possible clients. Don't worry ed is taking notes for Mission Control's employee handbook. Well 1 hour later we are on the road, ed's newly spoked trued wheel has a flat. No problem, I fix it and we hit the road again. 2 kilometers later same wheel another flat. But the problem seems to be the extremely old worn out tire. I check the tubes no pinches, no holes, yet it ... read more

Ahh where to start, I guess at the beginning, last night I decide I want to go to LLuc (pronounced yuk) which means my biggest cycling climb in my life. Two years ago we did Orient, this would take me to the real mountain range. I didn't mention it on yesterday's blog due to nerves. I get unusually nervous about stuff like this, I know I won't be the fastest that I'm fine with, failing not as fine with! A quick aside, I have two leaky heart valves not so leaky they need repaired yet but leaky enough that I sounds like I smoke when cycling uphill. I do not smoke, but I do love those candy cigarettes with the puff powder smoke, but who doesn't. So last night at dinner Ed starts telling me things ... read more

Yesterday Claire and I walked to Alcudia old town. There is a beautiful old fort, in which the town is built. Tried my hand at speaking spanish with local shop assistants and managed to get a positive response, almost too positive. I seem to be able to trick people into thinking I speak a whole lot more spanish than I actually do. Quite awkward when they expand past my limited vocabulary and seek a response from me. Oh well, at least I'm trying. Oh, the weather is rubbish and I only brought one jersey... bugger. ... read more

I promise to stop drinking 15 espressos per day. I promise not to drink coffee with dinner. I didn't sleep hardly at all which is unusual for me. I always say I can sleep anywhere - except a comfy hotel after cycling 80 miles and drinking 15 espressos. Note Ed started drinking coffee this year so my caffeine addiction is at an all time high. I slept maybe two hours with tons of tossing and turning. Ed slept like the dead, seriously I turned on the light, coughed, turned over repeatedly and he slept through the whole thing. Finally at 5:00 after finishing one book and starting another I fell asleep for a few hours. Due to my somewhat comatose state today our cycling was less, but I stopped drinking coffee by 3:00 and we have ... read more

Semana Santa: All Fiesta No Siesta During Spain’s Holy Week Spring has sprung, and to Americans that means polishing off those chocolate bunnies and searching for brightly colored eggs. Here in Spain however, Easter week is one of the biggest and most esteemed holidays of the year, and definitely worth checking out. Instead of massive candy sales and feeling obligated to go to church, you’ll find something far more stately, spiritual, and dare I say it, cultural? Semana Santa, or Holy Week, starts on Palm Sunday and ends on Easter Sunday. During this period, Spaniards and tourists alike come out in throngs to watch religious processions take place. On each night of the week, different hermandads (brotherhoods or parishes) take their pasos (floats) with enormous figures of Christ on the Cross, the Virgin Mary, and other ... read more
