Saturday was a sweat box in London! We had to lug our backpacks to Baker Street in order to catch the 'Easy Bus' to Stansted. Turns out our bus didn't turn up, but managed to get on the next one at 11am. The (mini) bus had no aircon so we we had to endure the heat for another hour. Took a Ryanair flight to Palma Mallorca which left me with the impression of a flying McDonalds restaurant. Took the resort hopper bus from Palma airport to Puerto Alcudia. Mallorca looks ruggedly beautiful, can't wait to explore. Managed to find Mallorcan vino for less than 3 euros... sweet. Beer is quite cheap too. Off to explore the Easter markets today. Apparently the spanish are into their religious festivals; who would have known? ... read more

His whole blogging thing takes some getting used to. Thus that's why I ended mid word, niw the unfortunate part remembering what word... Ahh yes espresso, right I was deluded we somehow thought the jersey shore two years after our first bout would somehow improve. Well I'm here to say that Pauly D and Snookie missing as was bruce spring stein. Sad that we went from referencing the jersey shore with Bruce Springstein and we have downgraded to Pauly D, the situation and Snookie. That is truly sad and I have to wonder how The Boss feels about that? Ok so no improvement and btw it always rains when I am struggling with wind and traffic. So I am wearing our only cycling mirror I am going to digress for a second - shocking Germans who ... read more

We are back in Mallorca, two years later almost to the day. Much like last time we had an uneventful flight. Meaning fell asleep the minute I could lay my seat down. Ed woke me (by shaking me) a little before breakfast. We promptly got lost in Palma, finally foud our way to Santa Maria Checked out out hotel ( yes I gave our room the once over for any creepy crawlers) happy to report all clear! Found our bikes for the week and put our pedals and seats on an went for a Great forst ride. It was beautiful we went to a little village, Costix, ha espresso and headed home. It was good, we learned that we have become huge bike snobs. We don't bring our own bikes and we both noticed the handlebars ... read more

So, I have definitely been slacking on the blog front...but that should just tell you how much fun I'm having! No time to write it all down! When we last left off I was heading to Rome. Well, let's just say that city is NOT overrated. I absolutely loved it. Miss Alexandra Heuer was a phenomenal tour guide and we hit just about every landmark I had hoped to see. Climbed to the top of the spanish steps (my favorite), drank a Peroni at the Trevi Fountain while making my wish, saw the Coliseum, Pantheon, Victor Manuel, walked around where Caesar was stabbed, and climbed/rode the elevator to the top of St. Peter's Cathedral. The night-life in Rome was an absolute blast and the food... oh the food. Pizza, pasta, bruschetta, suplees (deep fried ball of ... read more

My friend decided it was time for us to visit the island of Mallorca (Majorca to global neophytes). It seemed to her that we were the only people in the (our) world who had not been to Mallorca. In deference to my reluctance, she decided that we would only stay four nights. Our main purpose in taking the trip was to see the island, its people, the city of Palma, and the almond trees in bloom (and anything else that got in the way, as far as I was concerned). I had heard of the Spanish custom of Tapas 'hopping' which I looked forward to most of all. Much to my consternation, the eating habits of the Mallorqinas - as they are called - and for that matter the Spanish as well, leave something to be ... read more

Hey everyone! A few cool things to fill you in on. This week was a blast. The weather was amazing and I got a couple great runs along the beach in. Nothing wrong with that. Tuesday and Wednesday night my friends and I did "La Ruta" which is a group of 25 small bars around Palma that have a drink and a tapa for 2 euro! We didn't hit all 25 haha but the ones we went to were so cute and fun. While at one of them on Tuesday night, we overheard some people speaking English and we could tell they were American. Sure enough we went over there, and they were from Iowa. Graduated from UNI (university of northern iowa) recently. Small, small, SMALL world, isn't it? Yesterday (Saturday) a group of about 25-30 ... read more

Hello!! Well, since I posted last, I have seen the Bellver Castle and a town called Valledemosa (where the musician Chopin spent a lot of his time.) Both were interesting and beautiful of course. I went to mass on Sunday evening inside the La Seu cathedral here in Palma which was really cool. The entire mass was of course in Spanish and I was dissapointed to discover I do not remember the spanish "Our Father" that I had to memorize in Spain. Oh well. Also, ate the best italian food I have ever had in my life at this restaurant called Garibaldi. 20 euro for all you can eat all you can drink. You may be thinking if its all you can eat all you can drink, the quality of the food/drinks are terrible but you ... read more

Hola Amigos! Things are still great as ever here in Mallorca. I'm still trying to get completely oriented in the city and if you don't already know when it comes to directions I may be the WORST person alive, but I'm trying to get better here... so far unsuccessfully. But working on it. Tuesday and Wednesday nights in Palma there is this thing called "La Ruta" (the route) and its 25 bars who have a tapa and a drink for 2 euro so we did that Tuesday and it was a ton of fun! Lots of small but packed bars with interesting people from all over which is sweet. Today we went to a town in Mallorca called Soller. Google it if you get the chance. To get there, we took the oldest train in Spain ... read more

Bicicletas Today has been the greatest day yet here. I could barely wake up when my alarm went off at 9 but forced myself out of bed and thank god i did. It was 65 and sunny and my group and I rented bikes and biked around four about 4 hours along the coast. I can't even begin to describe how beautiful it was. Mountains, yachts, fishing boats, restaurants, rocks, cliffs, beaches, and clear blue water. Wow. Had a delicious salad, pizza and sangria at a restaurant along the water. The owner of the restaurant also rents out boats and said for 50 euro we could go on a party boat complete with a DJ, all you can eat and drink and free entry into this club. Sounds like something we will definitely be trying. The ... read more

First Real Night Out Last night was my first experience with the insane lifestyle of Spanyards. We got to this club en el paseo maritimeo (a street full of bars and clubs along the water) around 12-1 and I got home around 530 am and the club was still packed when I was leaving. Its absolutely wild. I am falling more and more in love with this place every single day. It's amazing. The past few days have been 60 and sunny and hearing about the snow back home makes me feel even luckier. Spent the day drinking coffee at various patios (I am already addicted. Never drink it in the states, and now I can't stop.) I've made some great and hilarious friends already, one of which has an apartment and went to culinary school ... read more
