Hello my fellow travellers! Today has been a truly wonderful day! I woke up quite early and ate breakfast with Martin, trying a local delicacy that was like a mix between milk, cream and cheese. It was quite tasty and interesting. Afterwards I went to the city centre where I started with a visit to the Saint Martin's Cathedral and then went back to see the Slovak National Theatre and Slovak Philharmonic in the daylight. From there i made my way to the Old Town Hall and found a door open so I actually got in without paying (although it would honestly have been worth the 5 EUR entrance fee). The view from up in the tower is very nice and there are several rooms that are well preserved in their original state, the staff was ... read more

Hello my fellow travellers! Today has been a very interesting day with many good meetings. This morning Jay was the first to leave since he had an early train to Vienna, my own one was about an hour later. So, I said goodbye to Jay with a promise to try and meet again in Berlin in July and a bit later I said goodbye to Jakub and Mark, both of whom I will meet again on Wednesday. Neither Katy nor Christine was up yet. At the train station my train was 20 minutes delayed but it was okay as it gave me a chance to get a little something to eat. The train ride though was really fun as I got to share a cabin with two lovely ladies from Japan. They were talking a lot ... read more

Rano nechane kluciky len na stoliky u recepcneho a smer domov. Este vyhadzujem zubnu kefku a stare roztahane pyzamo. V pekarnicke kupujeme osie hniezdo a cokoladovy croasant. Po ranajkach uz ... read more

ZHODNOTENIE Rumunsko ma prekvapilo akurat sofermi co pustali ludi cez prechod este ked ani neboli na nom, fakt uplne nieco nenormalne, niekedy to az prehanali. Vylet hodnotim velmi pozitivne, ziadne zle skusenosti, ludia v pohode, pocasie vyslo, jedlo dobre, preprava bez problemov, ubytka na slusnej urovni.

Po obdrzani potvrdovaci... read more

Although I never intended to stop here when I planned this trip, or when I changed my plans to avoid air travel 4 weeks ago, I'm glad I did. My first visit to Bratislava - 6 years ago - was a whirlwind that left a general impression but little substance. I now have that substance, and for that I am grateful. Bratislava is not a huge town for sightseeing - most of what you'll want to see and remember is in the Old Town, which you can meander through and be done with in about an hour. I did that on Friday, my first afternoon in town. To get past all that, I wanted to use the bus and tram system, and while it's easy to use in theory, it didn't quite work out that way ... read more

Of all the places I expected to be on this trip, this has got to be the unexpected of the unexpected. I had no intention of going to Slovakia on this trip, other than maybe sleeping through it on the night train I had booked for right now between Budapest and Poland. But things change, and that's great. This is my 2nd time in Bratislava, but the first time was only about 6 hours one day while I was staying in Vienna. This time, I get to experience more than just a meal and a few of the highlights. Already, I've enjoyed myself immensely! The train ride was smooth. I couldn't believe it, though I did make sure to catch the train that was going all the way to Berlin. I figured if the Germans were ... read more

Najviac ma zaujal anjelsky hrad, taktiez nocne koloseum bolo famozne. Vsade som cital ,ze popri ... read more

Po tom co mi doma neschavalili let do kolumbie (spiatocna cca 350€) som zacal vymyslat kam zuzanu zoberiem, bo bolo naznacene, ze este neaka cesta mimo eu bez nej a je finito. Koncom/zaciatkom roka bola kopa lacnych spiatocnych leteniek, trebars cina, thajsko s odletom z pardubic za cca 250€, kuba, dominikanska republika, portoriko cca 190€ odlet madrid, japonsko 280€ odlet vieden. V januari ryanair spustil akciu, kde jednosmerna letenka vychadzala na 9,90€ (odlety z ba do milana, rima, sardinia). Ovsem niekde bolo treba pobudnut tyzden, dva tyzdne aby to vyslo 20€ za spiatocku. No ale najlepsiu akciu (lety jun - december) dalo cebupacific, spiatocka dubai - manila za 25€ (do dubaia sa da dostat spiatockou za 200€) Na diskusii akcniletenky.com sa objavila zaujimava tema so zlavou 70€ v pripade... read more

In April 2008 while on a trip to Hungary I decided to travel to Slovakia by train with my Hungarian friend. I wanted to see another former Soviet bloc communist state in Eastern Europe besides Hungary and Poland. The following is an account of our visit to Kosice the second largest city in Slovakia. It was a cold morning when we set out for the railway station in Nyiregyhaza. The train was scheduled to leave at 7:30 but we arrived at the station well in time. An hour after leaving Nyiregyhaza the train pulled in at Miskolc where we had to change to another train for Kosice. However, we had to wait another two hours at the station for this train, so we spent some of the time to have breakfast at the station cafe. The ... read more
