Today has been a very easy day. I had a meeting this morning to discuss possible courses with my study abroad advisor, and he informed us of all the sites to see in Assisi. Then I bought my last Italian textbook, a panino, and came back to the school to use their free wifi. I’ll probably go back home once I’m done with this post. Tomorrow all I have planned is a free lunch that the school is offering, which is supposed to be delicious. After that, I will probably walk around Perugia and take a million pictures, because I haven’t taken any yet. Then on Sunday I’ll be spending the day in Assisi, which will be wonderful. I have to remember to upload all of the pictures I will be taking. I can’t wait to ... read more

This first week is so boring to right about, but actually living here in Perugia is incredible. I was just going to combine the entries that I missed, but I’m listening to The Midnight Beast and am more motivated now. All I did in Italian was review verb tenses and conjugations, and then went on a walk through Perugia. We asked questions about different types of espresso in the bars and my professor told us about a lot of good places in the city that we should visit.... read more

Second post! This is a pretty good way to pass the time when you don't want to think about when we're going out to dinner. Italians don't eat dinner until after 8. My roomates and I are constant snackers between meals. It's hard to wait so long in between! We had lunch at 12:30 today, which were delicious personal pizzas, that I really want to estimate were a foot wide! This morning we had a meeting at 11am for the trip to Asissi that the group from our university is taking on Sunday. Our plan was to wake up at 10:30, but that went down the tubes realllll fast when we woke up to our door bell buzzing at 8:50am! My roommate Abby asked if I heard it, and we convinced ourselves it wasn't anything important ... read more

This is my first post on my first ever blog. I don't know if anyone will read this, or if it will never be seen. I would appreciate comments just to know someone is seeing this! I am a Jounalism/Mass Communication major and have always been into writing. I tend to ramble alot and I promise I can't promise to avoid doing it in this blog :) So, how did I end up here in Perugia, Italy? I wish the story had more substance than it actually does. Instead, it was more suggested to me by my dad. It started as a "Claire, I saw that there is a meeting about studying abroad in Perugia for Spring 2012..it's at this room at this time. And you really, really should go." I didn't say no. I had ... read more

This is a day late, so I’ll just post twice today. Our Italian classes began today. This week is only Italian, in order to teach us the basics on how to get by in Italy. We have three 1.5 hour classes every day. Super intense, but I’m going to learn so much. Then I went out to eat at my advisor’s house. We had so much pizza. We discussed all of the technical stuff, such as classes and how our apartments are. After dinner, when we were walking home, I asked one of my advisors to show us where Amanda Knox’s house is, so we took the short walk over. The house is so creepy, especially because we went at night. I’m going to go back to take pictures, but only during the day. It’s too ... read more

Hi everyone! So my computer completely died before I came here so I will only be able blog through the computer lab, meaning that I have limited time to say what deffinately needs to be said about this place. Let me give you a little update first. The ride here was long. I pulled my first all nighter on the flight which probably wasnt the best idea. But would you be able to sleep if you know that you would be living in this place for four months?! Doubtful! The first night we stayed in a hotel that was in a pretty sketchy part of the city. Seeing that part made me so nervous. It was not what I expected Perugia to be at all! But the hotel was beautiful inside and I met my roomates that ... read more

Yesterday and today have been so busy. I had to move in yesterday, and since moving in I’ve had a million meetings to go to. The one bad thing about the apartment is that it’s always FREEZING. I added a blanket to my bed last night and still couldn’t fall asleep because I was so cold. I just added another huge blanket, so hopefully it will help more. We took a small tour of the city today, and it is so beautiful. I can’t wait to go on a walk and just take pictures of everything. I should have taken my Nikon, or bought myself a better camera. The one I’m using isn’t too bad, but it definitely isn’t good enough. We’ve been making our own food for the most part. I bought a panini today, ... read more

So exhausted. Spent the day in the airport, went through security, got on the plane, all the boring things. The airline gave us chicken for dinner, it was so gross. I read half of my new book on the flight. It’s a lot better than I thought it was going to be. Overall, it was a very boring day. I’m at a hotel in Perugia now, chilling out. I think I might try to sleep at around 11:30pm, to try to get rid of this jetlag. I move into my apartment tomorrow, and have to take a placement exam for my italian course. Tomorrow is going to be such a long day.... read more

I am studying abroad in Perugia, Italy next semester, and I will be using this blog to record my experiences. I’m going to try my best to post every day while I’m away; writing absolutely everything that I have done that day, from classes to what I made for dinner. Hopefully I’ll be good about uploading pictures so that I can add those in, too. I have family in Italy, so I have been there quite a few times. I have also been to Ireland, the Netherlands, Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic. I hope to travel a lot while I’m there, mostly to the places in Europe I haven’t been yet. I’m extremely lucky to have this opportunity. Anyways, I just thought I’d write a small background entry before I leave. I still have about ... read more
